Chapter Text
“Damn." Katsuki sighed, yawning as he unwrapping himself from the bundle of bedsheets. Thoughts of the ‘welcome back’ party thrown last night flooded his mind. The mornings after any party was always the worst part, hangovers were no joke. Walking into Hanta’s room uninvited, Katsuki plopped down on the end of his bed.
Hanta peeked up before laying back down, he was used to the random pop-ups. Everyone that lives there is, to be honest, they’ve all grown very comfortable around each other after living together for so long.
The house was really quiet this morning, which was rare. Most of the time Kaminari and Kirishima would be all over the place, hyper as ever, Katsuki being the one to scold them to sit the fuck down somewhere as Kyouka would play music from her room which could be heard through the whole house while the only sane person of the house, Hanta would be minding his own business, chilling somewhere.
Due to the quietness, Katsuki was able to hear the small conversations between the by-passers walking past the house, the birds singing softly as they splashed in the nearby pond, and so much more outdoor commotion. It was nice.
"Last night's party was.. wild," Hanta rasped out, being the first to break the pleasant silence in the room. He yawned, resting his head on Shouto’s lap. “We might've overdone it just a lil'." He finished, sighing heavily once Shouto started to massage his scalp.
“No shit." Katsuki sneered, pulling out his phone from his pocket. The brightness made his headache worse, causing him to let out an exaggerated groan.
"Dude, imagine how much there is to clean.."
"Don’t worry about that. Ky and I cleaned up the majority of the mess while the rest of you were asleep.” Shouto murmured.
"Thanks, 'roki" Hanta grinned, sitting upright to lie closer to him.
Katsuki only shook his head, quietly exiting the room before he ended up seeing things he never wants to witness.
While walking past the living room he noticed Kaminari and Hitoshi sleeping, cuddled up on the couch. Out of kindness, he went over and put a blanket over the two. Honestly, living in a house with a bunch of couples made him feel lonely as hell..
The problem was, Katsuki wasn’t too fond of relationships. Speaking of, his recent relationship went to shit in a heartbeat. It wasn’t his fault though, his ex, Kai was a manipulative asshole. Izuku, Katsuki’s best friend, never liked the guy from the start. Izuku’s mood changed instantly whenever he came around, always silently muttering slick remarks to himself which Katsuki found amusing since he could always hear every word Izuku said.
Katsuki drowsily walked back into his room to find an outfit for the day, might as well go get breakfast to keep himself occupied while his friends spend the morning all cuddled up with their boyfriends which must be fucking nice.
He has always gone to the same café ever since he began to attend Myermiya University. It was a small, two-story cafe ran by Izuku. He always rambled about opening a cafe ever since they were ten years old, making drabbles of how he wanted the scenery to look and all. The two of them have been joint at the hip ever since a young age, growing up doing everything together.
Katsuki put together a simple outfit for the day, blue jeans, a black hoodie with a small orange 'X' on the right side, a black beanie, and a pair of black crocs. He didn't bother to change any of the jewelry in his ears, leaving the earrings of his two-lobe piercings on each ear and industrial piercing on his right ear as is.
After texting the group chat to alert them that he’d be out for a while he grabbed his coat, keys, and laptop and left out the door.
Once he got in the car he sat still for a while, letting the warm heat settle in. He let out a shaky breath, readjusting the beanie on his head to the point where a couple of strands of his hair peeked out. Clicking through the channels of the radio, Katsuki stopped once he heard a familiar tune, Weak by SWV. For some reason he was very interested in 90’s music, he just couldn’t get enough of the vibe of it all.
The blond began to hum along, tapping a single finger on the steering wheel as he drove.
It's a feeling that I don't understand
'Cause my heart starts beating triple time
With thoughts of loving you on my mind
I can't figure out just what to do
When the cause and cure is you…
All types of music put Katsuki at ease but this type in particular had the blond feeling like the most careless person in the world.
Familiar bells tinkled as Katsuki pushed open the café door, the scent of sweet vanilla and fruity pastries filling his nostrils. A welcoming voice was heard from afar. It wasn't unrecognizable, Katsuki knew exactly who it was.. how could he not.
“Hi." The blond huffed, stuffing his hands further into his coat pockets.
“Oh, Kacchan! Hey!" Izuku beamed, "Bad morning, hm?" The latter questioned, a concerned look overtaking his expression. Izuku always noticed when the blond was in a bad mood, his normal scowl deeper than usual.
“Very. everyone’s laid up right now, I had to get out of there."
Izuku giggled, smiling at the blond. Katsuki loved his smile, it always made him feel warmth inside when Izuku smiled or even made eye contact with him, thinking about it just made him feel like a pathetic sap.
“Maybe a nice coffee with a baked muffin might make your day better, yeah?" Izuku offered, tightening the strings of his work apron around his waist.
“Of course." Katsuki grinned.
“On the house just for you." Izuku smiled. Katsuki thanked him, letting out a quiet chuckle before going to take a seat.
Katsuki was in complete ecstasy as he ate. Izuku’s baking skills were always on point even before he attended university as a culinary student. In their teenage years, Izuku would bake when he got bored, letting Katsuki be the one to taste test everything. The blond didn’t really favor sweets, he didn’t like them at all really but when it came down to Izuku’s baking, he sure as hell loved it.
After finishing his breakfast he opened up his laptop, lazily staring at the screen as he started working on some assignments that needed to be due. He decided to stay at the café until Izuku got off his shift since they haven’t got to spend much time together this past week since Izuku was away with family.
Taking a lookup from his work, he noticed Izuku sleeping. His arm propped up, supporting his head that was repeatedly leaning over from trying so hard to keep himself awake.
“This idiot, always pushin’ himself to work past his limits,” Katsuki whispered, groaning as he got up from his seat.
“I think it’s ‘bout time you close for the day.'' Katsuki insisted, patting the greenette’s shoulder.
"Yeah,” Izuku yawned, stretching his arms out over the countertop before standing up and reaching for the cleaning supplies.
“No, no more working for you,” Katsuki demanded, taking the supplies out of Izuku’s hands. “You’re clearly fuckin’ exhausted. You can get your things and wait in the car, I'll close up for you today.”
“Thank you, Kacchan,” Izuku said, yawning once more.
“Yea, yea. It's no problem.”
“Can I come over to the house today? I haven’t seen the others in a while.”
“’Course you can, nerd. No need to ask.”
The drive back was peaceful, the excessive amount of heat warming up all the cold areas on Izuku’s body and the repetitive noise of raindrops hitting the windows made him quite tired. He tried to stay awake but his eyelids were getting heavier by the moment. After finding a way to get comfortable in the seat, he shut his eyes, falling into a deep slumber.
“Deku, We’re here,” Katsuki said, patting Izuku’s thigh repeatedly. “You can nap in my room if you’re still tired.”
“Carry me up.” Izuku slurred out, now leaning his head on Katsuki’s shoulder.
“Okay, sure.”
“Really?”
“Hell no. Now get your lazy ass out of my car.” Katsuki retorted, playfully rolling his eyes.
“You hate me.” Izuku huffed, wiping imaginary tears from his eyes.
“You don’t even believe that yourself, nerd.”
“True,”
After a long while of bickering, the two had finally gotten out of the car. Since Katsuki thought it was a good idea to cop the first parking spot he saw they were soaked by the time they reached the porch.
Once Katsuki unlocked the door, Izuku causally waltzed his way into the blond’s room and took a pair of shorts and a random t-shirt out of Katsuki’s dresser. He changed his clothes before sprawling out on the bed, wrapping himself in the covers, his head full of curls being the only thing visible.
"Got any classes later on today?" Katsuki questioned, now taking off his clothes and slipping into more comfortable clothing, a simple t-shirt, and black sweatpants.
"Sadly, yes." Izuku groaned. "But I only have two for the day and they're both evening classes with Aizawa, he's pretty chill and doesn't assign much so I’m not complaining." He finished, sinking further into the bedsheets.
"I know I am not the only one who realized how close Aizawa and Mic have been throughout these last couple of days.." Katsuki said, walking over to his desk and pulling out some art supplies, beginning to drabble.
Katsuki loved drawing during his free time. He’d draw the first thing that came to mind, something that only he’d understand the meaning behind. The art looked so unusual but yet so unique.
"Yeah! I've noticed it too,” Izuku beamed, suddenly popping up from underneath the covers. "The tension between those two is very obvious."
"They're so gay it pains me.." Katsuki jokes, causing Izuku to let out a loud snort.
The two sat in calming silence, enjoying each other’s company. After a long while, Katsuki connected his phone to his speaker playing All Night Long by Mary J Blige. Izuku began to bop his head and tap a hand against his thigh to the beat simultaneously. It’s always been one of Izuku’s favorite songs since they were little brats even though the meaning behind the song flew right past his innocent mind as a child Izuku definitely knows what the lyrics mean by now. He began to sing beautifully, hopping up from his spot on the bed and ‘performing’ for Katsuki. His dancing was nowhere near as good as his singing but he was making an attempt, for sure.
“Ooh baby, Not tonight
I don't wanna fuss ‘n fight
I just wanna make it right!”
Katsuki only cackled at the other, somehow Izuku got a hold of a brush which he was now using as a microphone. The taller one watched as Izuku swiftly moved to almost every spot in the room, soon walking over to him and attempting to pull him up out of his seat.
“I'm sayin' that I love you every day
And I know that you love me
Baby, admit it”
“Come on Kacchan! Your favorite part, it’s coming up!” Izuku said, showing off that cheeky smile that the blond could never get tired of.
The two sang in unison. Sure, Katsuki wasn’t a good singer but who gives a shit, singing wasn’t his thing. Izuku sang the chorus passionately, continuing until the last few lyrics of the song. He threw himself back onto the satin sheets, out of breath. Katsuki did the same, outstretching his arms.
After a long while of staring at the plain black-painted ceiling, Katsuki glanced at Izuku, who was now sleeping. He was too pretty for his own good, all of his features complemented one another perfectly. Huffing out a breath, Katsuki shook himself out of his trance. He got up, carefully lifting his best friend up and putting him underneath the sheets. Today was a good day so far. He didn't have to worry about going to any classes or practices for the day, it was just him and Izuku. All was well.
