The rustling sounds of the busy city in Coruscant woke you up. Or maybe you woke up because you know today is the day. He probably knows it too, since how much he seems to can’t get his hands off you last night.
You’ve passed this day countless times, yet somehow the pain feels like it’s brand new.
It’s kind of ridiculous how you thought that this day won't be painless at all. That’s what happened on the day you agreed to be his girl. He reminded you before that, his job always comes first.
You thought that this relationship would be the regular “He goes to work, comes back, and lives happily ever after with you”. However, your man is a clone captain. His brothers died everyday fighting in the Clone Wars.
You know what you’re signing up for.
Now here you are, staring at your lover’s face. Mesmerizing every part of his face. On the day that could be the last time he’s ever in your arms.
Kriff
Your eyes slowly drifted to where he stacked his armor on the corner of the room last night. Everytime he came home, the paint on that armor appeared to be wearing off. Even sometimes, there’s a hint of blood of his dead brothers on that white-blue armor. That’s when it hit you, someday that hint of blood could be your man’s on someone else’s armor.
Stop it
Your loud thoughts seem to have woke him up. You didn’t realize that you’ve been crying, until he wiped the single tear off your cheek. Sadness and guilt were painted on your lover’s face. Kriff, you shouldn’t be crying at all.
Slowly, you scoot over until your head is under his chin. He puts his hands around your waist, while giving a kiss on your forehead.
“I’ll come back to you, I promise mesh’la.” said Rex as he leans his forehead against yours.
You lift up your face and stare at him.
Dammit, you love this man so much.
How he loved to give you a bear hug every time he came home.
How he took care of you the same way you took care of him.
How he holds your hand and gave you a reassuring swipe of thumb every time you feel uneasy
How he gave those hugs from behind whenever you’re distracted at something.
How he didn’t waste any time on spending the day with you whenever he’s here.
You didn’t mean to be in a relationship at first. Yet, he succeeded in changing your mind.
You hold his cheek, he instantly puts his hand on top of yours.
“Come back to me, okay?” you said while giving him a reassuring smile. He replied with a nod and kissed your forehead again.
You two eventually spend the last hours holding each other, giving each other comfort that you two desperately need.
