hindsight is a wonderful thing, or at least that is how the saying goes. in saebyeok’s opinion; hindsight was useless.
if you’re looking at something with hindsight, that means that nothing can be done to save the situation since it already took place. thus, it is a useless activity in saebyeok’s mind. what good would being able to understand the past if it has already happened?
at least that is what she tells herself every time she visits the grave she set up for jiyeong.
that was the first thing she did when she got out with the money, set up a funeral and grave. a few weeks later she buried an empty casket. into the ground, where the wood could rot away, just like saebyeok’s mind now that she was without jiyeong.
she missed her, but she dared not think of her with hindsight.
saebyeok knew what would happen if she did that, and she could not live with the pain of not just losing a friend.
she would have to live with the pain of losing the person she loved.
