Chapter Text
When Hyunjin met Byeonghan for the first time, it was like his world changed instantly. They had hit it off right away, going on date after date until the older man had finally asked Hyunjin to be his boyfriend.
Byeonghan had swept Hyunjin off his feet, and the members were ecstatic for him. They hadn’t him this happy before, and it led them to befriend the man. The company had no problem with it, as long as it was kept private and out of the public eye.
But that was two years ago, and things have…changed since then. At first Hyunjin thought the honeymoon phase was ending, until he completely missed his birthday. Not even a call or text until Hyunjin had to call him. Byeonghan just said sorry and that he had something come up and that he didn’t have time to tell him. Hyunjin had let it slide, forgiving him when he really had every right to be upset. And that had become a regular thing. The older man was hard to reach when Hyunjin needed him.
But he didn’t think much of it, even when it hurt.
The others had noticed, and they didn’t hide the fact they had grown to dislike Byeonghan, no despise him. They had noticed the man had only come around when he wanted something. The way he had manipulated Hyunjin’s feelings.
Hyunjin knew deep down that something wasn’t right. The way that Byeonghan had always asked him to buy things for him. Asking for designer clothing from the brands Hyunjin had contracts with. Every so often asking Hyunjin to introduce him to any of his celebrity friends.
But he brushed it off, even when it hurt. He didn’t remember the last time Byeonghan had ever gifted him something, or done something for him. The members were not subtle with their feelings at all when the man was hanging out with Hyunjin at their dorm or backstage.
They hated the way Hyunjin left their dorm with a smile on his face, only to come back several times trying not to cry. They had tried to get him to open up more about what was going on, as they really had no idea how bad it really was. They didn’t want to upset him, or to overstep.

Hyunjin should have ended everything the first time it had happened. Most nights when he stayed over at Byeonghan’s he was exhausted from the busy schedules he had, and all he wanted was to rest and relax.
“Byeongie please.. I’m so tired. Can we do it later? Or another time.. right now I just want to sleep..” he said softly. The older man continued to persist. “Come on jinni, I’ll do all the work, you can just lie there.. you hardly ever here to please me. If you really cared or loved me you wouldn’t be putting up a fuss..” the man huffed.
The words felt like knives cutting into his heart. But the words had made him feel guilty. He was hardly here.. and they hadn’t had many chances to ever have intimacy together. He just nodded, giving the other the okay.
He didn’t feel any pleasure from it, just laying there as Byeonghan finished himself off and then rolled over to go to sleep, not even uttering a ‘good night’ to him.
He curled up and let the tears fall down his cheeks.
He wished that was the last time it happened, but that too became a regular occurance.

They had recently released their 3rd full length album, and then right off on a world tour they went. While things hadn’t gone back to normal, it was now safe to finally go back on tour again. Byeonghan begged Hyunjin to let him go, and eventually he caved. The members hated it, but didn’t say anything.
They didn’t know what to do. They knew that Byeonghan was no good for Hyunjin, and they knew they weren’t being overprotective about this. Close friends outside of the group had noticed as well. Yeonjun, Wooyoung and Juyeon had expressed their concerns to the members.
They didn’t know how to approach it. Jisung had tried, but Hyunjin just told him not to worry and that he was fine, before leaving the room without letting Jisung even say his concerns.

Hyunjin looked around the festival, they had been invited to headline Coachella for one night during their tour. He had been looking forward to this night for months, as it had been one of his goals since he was a trainee.
But Byeonghan was nowhere to be seen. The older man insisted that he get tickets, and Hyunjin had gotten them for him. Yet, he wasn’t here. He had called several times, only to be met with no answer.
He shook his head, pulling on his in-ears and walking over to his members with a frown on his face. Felix had looked over once he saw movement, a frown matching on his face once he saw the look on Hyunjin’s face. “Baby wants wrong…” Hyunjin just leaned down, resting his head on his shoulder. The other members looked concerned, but stopped themselves from intruding as they knew it would stop Hyunjin from opening up. “He isn’t here..” he mumbled.
Felix wrapped his arms around Hyunjin, stopping himself from groaning. “I’m sorry baby..” he said as he ran his hand through Hyunjin’s Hair. He didn’t know what to say, he felt enraged and he knew if he spoke again he would say something that would scare the boy off. They wanted Hyunjin to feel comfortable opening up about what was going on, because they knew it was way worse than what was obvious.
Hyunjin pulled away, feeling a little better with the comfort of Felix. Letting his thoughts and feelings drift away as they went on stage, letting himself get carried away by the performance. He had looked for a moment, to see if his boyfriend was in the seat he booked for him.
He wasn’t there.
—-
He sat on the couch, pulling off the blazer and grabbing his phone off the table. The performance had just finished, and they ate the Korean BBQ that was set out for them. The members scattered around the room, taking a much needed break before they would go out and enjoy the other performances.
He looked around, there wasn’t really anywhere else he could go to make a call to Byeonghan. They were given a small room, probably the quietest place he could even make a phone call. He pressed the dial button, biting his lip as he waited.
Surprisingly, the call went through and he heard the loud noises of the festival through the speaker. Before he could even say anything, Byeonghan’s slurred voice came though- obviously had been drinking. “I know I missed your performance, but I ran into some friends and we wanted to see another performance. It’s ok, I’ve seen you perform a dozen times anyways.”
Hyunjin couldn’t believe what he heard.. he felt his heart shatter for the hundredth time. Tears welling up in his eyes before he could stop them. This night was so important to him and Byeonghan knew that.
“You knew this night was important to me..” he said, not even bothering to hush himself. “You begged to come, for me to get you front row tickets. Y-you always do this to me!” He felt his members' eyes on him, but he didn’t care at this point. The emotions that had accumulated over the past few months had come crashing down and he couldn’t help but start crying harder.
“Yah, don’t be like that. I’ll see you tonight.” And then the phone call was cut off. Hyunjin threw his phone across the room before getting up to leave the room. Felix got up and pulled the boy back down into a tight hug, tears of his own falling down his cheeks. He held on tight, knowing it wouldn’t be good for Hyunjin to storm off in a place they didn’t know well so distraught. Hyunjin had let himself be pulled, only sobbing harder as he let out the pain he has been concealing for so long.
Chan ushered the staff out, knowing that Hyunjin wouldn’t want them to see him like this. Minho had a tight grip on his water bottle, he had known that Byeonghan didn’t treat the younger right but none of them had ever seen Hyunjin this upset before. Seungmin and Jeongin had just walked back in after throwing out their trash, frozen by the door.
Changbin walked over, sitting behind the two boys on the couch and rubbed his hand over Hyunjin’s back while Jisung had simply held him in a tight hug like Felix had, Chan coming over and sitting on the table in front of the couch.
Hyunjin had looked up, pulling himself away from Felix and Jisung only to push forward and crash into Chan’s arms. There was something different about the way his hyung held him that comforted him as he sobbed into his chest. He held onto him tightly, letting himself cry it all out. Chan just pulled him closer, looking just as pissed off as Minho. He wished he had stepped up sooner..
Felt like hours, before his sobbing had turned into sniffles. “H-hyung, why.. why does he do this to me.. I love him so much… it hurts..” he said, his voice crackling. Chan pulled away slightly, his hands coming up to hold Hyunjin’s face in his hands gently. He wiped the tears, before speaking softly “I don't know baby. But you do not deserve it.”
“I know.. I know I don’t. B-but it’s so hard- hard to actually admit it and leave him.” He whimpered, shaking his head not wanting to cry even more. “Hyung, can we go back to the hotel.. I-I just want to rest and maybe talk about it later. It hurts too much right now..”
Chan nodded, wiping his tears again before ushering everyone to pack up. Changbin stayed by his side, letting Seungmin and Jeongin grab there stuff. He held Hyunjin close as they went through the back and into the van. Once back at the hotel they had split up and showered, but ended up all being in Hyunjin’s room once they were done. Hyunjin had a small smile on his face, as he watched them all pile in wearing cozy pajamas. He looked up at Chan, before asking softly. “Hyung can you- can you help me keep him away for a while. I-I don’t want to see him right now..”
“We’re not letting him near you Jinni.” Changbin has answered instead, snuggling close to Hyunjin. He signed, letting himself get comfortable before falling asleep.

Minho had been the last to clean himself up, he quickly changed into his comfortable clothes before heading out of his room to Hyunjins, once he got the text that they’d all be in there tonight.
He stopped in his tracks, gritting his teeth as he saw Byeonghan down the hall. He pocketed his phone and walked up to him. He grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and dragged him back down the hallway.
“Yah what the-“ he shut up once Minho shoved him into the wall, his face up close and personal. “You fucked up. All you do is fucking hurt him and he doesn’t want you around right now.” He let go, walking over to the door and picking up a bag sitting on the floor. “So here’s your shit, get lost before our guards drag you out by your feet.”
Throwing the bag at him as their security guards walked up. Byeonghan was escorted off their floor. He shook his head, wishing he could have done more to the bastard but he knew it wasn’t going to fix anything and would only upset Hyunjin when he found out.
He quietly walked into the room, walking over and crawling into the bed behind Jisung. “He’s been escorted off our floor.” He simply said, before going to sleep.
Chan had looked at his sleeping members before looking down at Hyunjin beside him.
Everything was far from okay, but they wouldn’t stand by anymore. Byeonghan would not hurt him anymore. They wouldn’t allow it.
