Work Text:
After spending any amount of consecutive days with Yoongi, people usually figured out two things very quickly:
- Morning did not officially begin until his coffee was gone.
- He valued his sleep each and every night even if it was only a couple hours.
His nightly routine consisted of this order: putting on his red and black flannel pajamas, brushing his teeth, washing his face, walking to his window and closing his blackout curtains, then securing the two drapes with a clothespin in the middle so the sun wouldn’t dare sneak a peek into his room the next morning.
Any small amount of light could, and without a doubt, would wake Yoongi. It didn’t matter if it was light coming in under the doorway (like his freshman year of college) or light through the window, his phone lighting up with notifications -- light was light and it would wake him up.
And now, as Yoongi stared at the note on the front door of his apartment he wasn’t sure what to do. Every single door down his hall had one and he would have missed it completely had it not been for the indignant squawk he heard down the hall from another tenant.
“Can they even do this?” The other tenant, Hoseok, asked with disbelief lacing in his voice.
Yoongi looked at Hoseok and shrugged, unsure of what landlords could and couldn’t do.
Hoseok and Yoongi were friends. Kind of. Maybe more acquaintances really. But if it weren’t for Hoseok, Yoongi wouldn’t have an apartment so he was always pleasant and said hello in passing, and sometimes he helped him bring in groceries when it looked like he had too many to handle on his own.
Yoongi sighed and looked back down at the note.
All tenants of the 3rd floor are asked to evacuate the premises by 11pm on November 1. A termination process for termites will begin at 6am the following morning. You may return 5 days after on November 7.
Thank you for your cooperation. Rent will not be taken out for these 5 days due to this inconvenience.
Another squawk left Hoseok’s mouth. “Five days?!”
“Holy shit,” Yoongi muttered.
He let his hand drop to his side and mentally began running through his list of friends.
Namjoon: Lived with Seokjin.
Seokjin: Loud. Especially when gaming.
Jimin: Lived with Taehyung. Sex. A lot of it.
Taehyung: Lived with Jimin. Sex. A lot of it
Jeongguk: Lived an extra 20 minutes from Yoongi’s work of place. Didn’t have a spare room. College student. May be up late.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow at his last option, which really seemed to be his best bet. Jeongguk was actually a pretty quiet kid, quieter than Seokjin that was for damn sure. (But God, Yoongi had the absolute biggest crush on Jeongguk. He didn’t like to think about it).
As Yoongi came back to the present he caught the last bit of Hoseok’s sentence.
“-stay with Namjoon?”
Yoongi shook his head. “Jin-hyung is too loud for me.”
Hoseok laughed. “You have somewhere to stay though?”
“Yeah,” Yoongi said, positive that Jeongguk wouldn’t turn him down in his time of need. “I guess I better go pack some stuff. Tell Joon and Jin I said hi.”
“Sure thing,” Hoseok said, smiling brightly as he walked back to his apartment, two down from Yoongi.
With a groan, Yoongi begrudgingly went into his apartment, dreading having to even look around for a duffel bag.
He smiled down at Holly, who greeted him at his feet with excited yaps and a wagging tail.
yoongi
jeonggukkie
have room for me and holly for a few days?
jeongguk
uhh sure hyung, everything okay?
yoongi
my floor is getting exterminated this week for termites
i have to be out tonight and then for 5 days
jeongguk
that sucks hyung
bring whatever you need for u and holly!!
just enter the code when u get here
He’d have to treat Jeongguk for lamb skewers tonight as a thank you.
Yoongi pocketed his phone and headed into his room in search of his duffel bag he hadn’t used since college when he had a boyfriend he’d regularly spend the night and weekends with. For a brief moment, he thought about how sad life was but then he remembered he had a dog and was literally producing music — his dream. Absolutely fuck men.
✨
“Holly!”
“The dog gets a greeting before me?”
Jeongguk looked up at his hyung with a smile on his face, nose scrunching as a giggle escaped his lips. Yoongi felt his breathing stutter for a moment as he watched the face in front of him literally light up when he looked at Yoongi.
“Always, you know Holly is my favorite. But hello to you too, Yoongi-hyung.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, Holly was his favorite too so he couldn’t fault Jeongguk.
“I brought us dinner,” Yoongi lifted the takeout bags, wiggling them slightly. The stall they always got their lamb skewers from had been closed so he opted for jjajangmyeon instead.
“You didn’t have to do that,” Jeongguk replied, giving Holly one last pat before standing up and grabbing the takeout bag from Yoongi, fingers brushing for a moment. “Come on in. There’s some extra slippers for you.”
Sure enough, there were extra slippers by the door for him already. Yoongi toed off his shoes and slipped on the gray slippers, taking his time so the fast-paced beating of his heart had time to calm down. He couldn’t believe Jeongguk just smiling and brushing fingers with him had him practically gasping for air.
He took in the space around him, where he’d be living for a few days. Jeongguk’s apartment wasn’t anything extravagant. As per his list, it was a one bedroom living space. The bedroom connected to the kitchen, only a small kitchen island dividing the two. Jeongguk’s bed was pushed into the corner opposite of the kitchen, and there was a small shelving unit (that was a bitch and was always getting hit by the bathroom door) dividing what one may consider a “living room” (but Yoongi would barely call it that when it only had a TV) and the bedroom. He guessed Jeongguk had still never gotten around to finding a couch.
“Did you bring dinner for Holly too? He’s begging for my rice.”
Yoongi took his bag off of his back and dug around for the two bowls and the small container of dog food he’d packed. “Where should I put it?”
“Just put it at the end of the island. Dinner’s ready,” Jeongguk said, pushing a takeaway container toward a stool for himself and Yoongi.
“Thanks, Gguk.” Yoongi sat down on the barstool (after filling Holly’s bowl so he could enjoy a nice meal along with them).
“I only said yes because I knew you’d buy me food, hyung.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes. “We’ll get our lamb skewers later this week. Our usual stall was closed.”
“Was it? Ah, I hope the ajumeoni there is okay.”
Yoongi nodded in agreement, breaking apart his chopsticks to dig in. The two ate in silence as Yoongi surveyed the apartment once more.
“I brought some blankets to use, figured I’d just sleep on the floor.”
Jeongguk looked down at his food sheepishly. “Sorry, hyung. I still haven’t bought a couch. But you could sleep in my bed-“
“Hyung will be fine on the floor,” Yoongi answered, reassuring him.
“I have a thick blanket my eomma gave me when I moved here and didn’t have a bed yet. That’ll help your back out and it won’t be so cold.”
“You think I’m an ahjussi?”
“No!” Jeongguk answered quickly, waving his hand holding his chopsticks in the air. “No, hyung, I just don’t want your back to hurt!”
Yoongi grinned. “I’m teasing, Jeonggukkie.”
“That was mean,” Jeongguk said, a small pout on his lips as he shoved noodles into his mouth.
With their stomachs full of noodles and rice the two set about their nightly routines on their own. While Jeongguk was in the bathroom Yoongi set up his sleeping space and read quietly. And once Jeongguk was done, Yoongi headed in while Jeongguk worked on a few assignments for his classes.
And once they were both done, they stayed in relative silence doing their own thing until Yoongi looked to his left and saw Jeongguk yawning.
“Is it your bedtime?” Yoongi teased.
“Hyung,” a whine. “I got up early this morning. I ran before my 8am class.”
Yoongi couldn’t fathom the motivation Jeongguk had for a senior in university. His senior year was all afternoon classes and he had Fridays free. He took the bare minimum required for that year after loading himself up too much his junior year.
“Let’s sleep, Gguk.”
Jeongguk looked at the book in his lap and the computer in front of him before nodding in agreement and shutting both the book and computer. He climbed out of bed, stepping over Yoongi, and placed his stuff on the kitchen island.
“Sorry it’s so crowded, hyung, I’m sure you didn’t exactly want to sleep on the floor right next to me.”
“It’s okay, better than living with termites.”
Jeongguk smiled, turning off the lights above the kitchen island before stepping over Yoongi once more and throwing himself into bed. He reached over and to Yoongi’s horror switched on a night light, bidding him goodnight.
✨
It was not a good night.
It was 3am.
It was witching hour but Yoongi did not give a fuck about witches. In fact, he was kind of hoping one would show up and cast a sleeping spell on him, if that was such a thing.
He’d had more than enough time to assess the beaming light behind his head. It was an Iron Man night light. A piece of plastic in front of the bulb in the shape of a circle that had Iron Man on it, his hand in front of him showing one of his Repulsors. Yoongi wished he had one to focus his energy into to blast this night light out of the socket in the wall. The rest of the Avengers team were behind Iron Man, mocking him it seemed.
He flipped over onto his side again and huffed. He already knew the moment he walked into the apartment he’d have trouble falling asleep due to the two windows in Jeongguk’s apartment. And he knew he’d wake up early because of the sunlight. But he for sure thought he’d at least have an easier time falling asleep.
He just never factored in a fucking night light.
He flipped over again to face the other direction in hopes of getting some shut eye, but he knew he wouldn’t. He was genuinely jealous of the dog down by his feet that was fast asleep.
At 6am, Yoongi gave up and grabbed the book next to his bed deciding he could at least read for a bit before he had to start getting ready for work. Jeongguk didn’t have class until ten this morning and told Yoongi he wouldn’t be going for such an early morning run. It was arm day apparently anyways so he’d be hitting the gym.
✨
“Thanks for the breakfast, hyung.”
“Sure thing, kid,” Yoongi replied, trying to hurry and finish up his food. He’d have to leave the apartment in about ten minutes if he wanted to be on time to work.
“Did you sleep okay last night?”
Yoongi hummed his response. He didn’t want to be rude when Jeongguk had given up living space for him so he just didn’t give a concrete answer and instead hopped up from the barstool and put his plate in the sink.
“I’ll be back around six. Lamb skewers tonight?”
“Sure, hyung!”
“Great, have a good day, Gguk.” Yoongi ruffled Jeongguk’s hair with his hand before going to the door and slipping off the slippers in favor of his shoes. He gave Holly a pat on her head and one last wave to Jeongguk before slipping out the door.
Maybe he could get an hour or two of sleep in his studio this afternoon.
✨
“So how’s it going with your literal wet dream sleeping next to you?”
“Gross, never call him that again.”
“Am I wrong? Not even a week ago you had a dream where he was gi-“
“Jimin!” Jeongguk screeched, reaching out and shoving his friend. “The whole weight room doesn’t need to know!”
Taehyung was off to the side on a bench laughing at Jimin and Jeongguk. He knew very well the dream Jeongguk had last week, and he wouldn’t want it broadcasted to the whole room either.
He walked over to his two other friends, pout on his lips. “Are you guys almost done? I’m hungry.”
“Aw, Taehyungie,” Jimin cooed, placing his weights down on the ground and leaning over to place a small kiss on Taehyung’s pout. “We’re done.”
“We are?” Jeongguk asked, perplexed because they still had three reps left.
“Tae said he’s hungry.”
Jeongguk rolled his eyes, not even wanting to argue. “You guys go ahead. I’m getting dinner with Yoongi-hyung anyways.”
Jimin froze from bending down to pick up his weights and Taehyung eyed him curiously. “Dinner? As in a dinner date? Is he buying? Are you going to a restaurant?”
Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows. “We’re going to our favorite lamb skewer stall.”
Taehyung deflated at his answer and Jimin continued picking up his weights, sighing in defeat.
“What?” Jeongguk asked.
“We just thought it’d be a date is all,” Jimin replied, disappointment in his tone as if his own being depended on this being a date.
Jeongguk decided to put his weights away too. “Guys, hyung doesn’t like me like that. He literally called me ‘kid’ this morning.”
“It’s just his coping mechanism to convince himself he doesn’t like you.”
“That makes zero sense,” Jeongguk replied, pout on his lips much like the one that had been on Taehyung’s moments ago.
“Ah, Ggukkie,” Jimin reached out and patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry too much about it. Enjoy your dinner with Yoongi-hyung.”
Jeongguk nodded, walking to the bench with his hyungs to pack up his bag.
“Wear your ‘eat my ass’ jeans tonight.”
“Taehyung!”
✨
taehyung
are your eat my ass pants on?
Jeongguk rolled his eyes and tossed his phone onto his bed. His “eat my ass” pants were not on nor did he plan on putting them on. The pants were only worn for certain occasions and going out to eat lamb skewers with Yoongi was not the same kind of occasion as going to a club.
Even if he was considering it he wouldn’t have had time because he could hear Yoongi typing in the code on the other side seconds before he tumbled in, bag strapped across his chest.
“Hey, Guk. Let me change real quick and we can head out.”
Jeongguk wanted to tell him he looked nice in his slacks and button-up ( really nice) but he just smiled and gave him an “okay, hyung.”
The air was chilly tonight and Jeongguk was grateful that he’d shrugged on his denim jacket over top of his white tee before they left. His hands were stuffed in his pockets as he walked down the street next to Yoongi, who seemed to be shrinking in on himself as if it would help fend off the cold.
“Ah, think our ajumeoni is back, Jeonggukkie.”
Jeongguk looked up and sure enough, their favorite stall was open. A smile broke across the ajumeoni’s face when she spotted the two boys, waving her hand in greeting and immediately beginning on their lamb skewers.
They both bowed when they came up to the stall window, giving her bright smiles. “Aish, you boys are too thin, did me being closed for a couple of days really make you this skinny?”
Yoongi chuckled. “Is everything okay, ajumeoni? I was worried when I came by yesterday.”
“My children visited for a few days. My husband persuaded me to shut down so we could all be together.”
“Do your children live far?” Jeongguk questioned, grabbing a couple of napkins that he’d no doubt end up needing.
“They live in Hong Kong. My daughter’s husband has a firm there. And my son lives in Gwangju. Not nearly as far, but it’s rare for both of my children and their families to be home if it’s not a holiday.”
“A special occasion?” Yoongi asked.
The ajumeoni rolled her eyes. “They surprised me for my birthday.”
“Happy birthday, ajumeoni,” Yoongi said, smiling brightly.
“It’s not for another month, Yoongi-yah, but thank you. That’s why it was such a surprise.”
Jeongguk gave the ajumeoni another soft smile. “They must love you very much.”
“But we’re glad you’re back,” Yoongi commented, reaching to grab the lamb skewers she offered him. He handed them off to Jeongguk while he fished out his wallet.
“Hyung, you bought takeout last night, I’ll pay-”
“Let your hyung pay,” Ajumeoni cut in, taking the money from Yoongi’s hands. “Now, you two boys eat those and come back if you’re still hungry. And don’t wait so long before coming back again.”
“Of course, ajumeoni,” Jeongguk replied, giving her another smile and a bow before walking to a fold-out table and sitting in a wobbly chair with Yoongi.
“Eat well, Jeonggukkie.”
Jeongguk nodded. “You too, hyung.”
They ate in relative silence, a few mentions of their days here and there. But overall, the silence didn’t bother either one. Jeongguk lived alone pretty much for this sole reason, he loved silence — thrived in silence honestly. Sound was always distracting to him when he was doing work, his first year of university and living in a dorm had been hell. Although Taehyung tried his very best to give Jeongguk silence, it wasn’t something that came naturally to him (especially once he started dating Jimin).
Jeongguk realized he had had no trouble studying last night with Yoongi in his space. In fact, it had almost been comforting to hear the pages of his book turning while he did work in bed. It was a nice background noise that he welcomed.
“Did you really sleep okay last night?” Jeongguk asked, taking another bite. He wasn’t satisfied with the simple hum of an answer Yoongi had given him this morning over breakfast.
Yoongi looked down at this question, inspecting his lamb skewer like it was suddenly the most interesting thing. “Yeah, I slept alright.”
“Sorry I don’t have a couch for you or something. The offer still stands, you could take my bed.”
But before his sentence was even finished, Yoongi was shaking his head. “I’m not going to take your bed, Gguk-ah.”
“It wouldn’t bother me if you did,” Jeongguk said, his doe eyes showing nothing but honesty.
Yoongi smiled. “I know, but hyung is fine on the floor.”
They don’t stay much longer, the chilly air nipping at their noses and fingers. Yoongi had already oggled Jeongguk’s red nose and cheeks one too many times. They quickly finished up and waved goodbye to the ajumeoni inside the stall, promising to be back soon.
Shoulders bumped as they walked leisurely back to Jeongguk’s apartment, mostly in silence once more, but neither were bothered enough to fill in the space with noise. They were both comfortable once again.
Their routine repeated from night before. Jeongguk got ready to settle in for the evening while Yoongi read and then they switched. And once again, Jeongguk found that he didn’t mind the sound of the book pages turning while he finished a couple of his assignments.
A small ding! did however pull him out of his studies. With a sigh, he slid open the message from Taehyung, already assuming it’s about his “ass eating pants.”

✨
“I’m just so tired,” he whined, head resting on the desk in front of him.
“Just ask if he can close the curtains.”
Yoongi squinted his eyes at Namjoon. “They’re sheer.”
Namjoon rolled his eyes, a rant on the tip of his tongue about how Jeongguk would move mountains for Yoongi so he’d no doubt do something about the curtains. He refrained.
“Just come stay with me and Jin.”
“No way in hell,” Yoongi sat up, putting his headphones back on but left one ear free so he could still talk to Namjoon. “I’d rather listen to Jimin talk about Taehyung’s dick.”
Namjoon’s face screwed up in distaste. “We’re that bad?”
Yoongi clicked around on a few files, trying to find something that interested him. “The banging of your headboard while Jin rails you is louder than my maintenance guy hammering shit the next complex over.”
“Okay, just suffer then.”
Yoongi nodded. “The thing is, I’m not even suffering. Not really. I’m enjoying my time there way too much. It’s nice to go there after work and eat with him. And it’s nice in the evenings to be in each other’s company even if we’re not talking. It’s just nice and the exact opposite of suffering.”
Namjoon gave Yoongi a look, one that said he was endeared by every single thing Yoongi was saying.
✨
“I can’t believe Yoongi’s even staying with you,” Jimin huffed out, breathing still a bit erratic. They’re both sweaty, shirts clinging to their skin and hair wet from their run. Jimin lets out a small whine about the stairs up to Jeongguk’s apartment.
“Why?” Jeongguk tapped in his apartment code, pushing open the door. They were greeted by an excited Holly, wagging his tail and tongue lolling out the side of his mouth.
“He can’t stand sleeping with light. It has to be pitch black for him,” Jimin explained. He rubbed behind Holly’s ears, making a kissy face at the dog before continuing. “One time he stayed at mine and Taehyung’s, he bitched about the light coming in under his doorway for hours.”
Jeongguk looked at Jimin in shock. “What? He hasn’t said a thing about light.”
“That’s why I’m surprised he’s even here. You have so much natural light and sleep with a night light. Namjoon and Jin bought blackout curtains for their guest bedroom and they put a towel under the door so light doesn’t come in that way in the morning. He’s just super sensitive to light. Well, and sex.”
Now that Jimin mentioned it, Jeongguk did wake up a few times the past couple of nights because of Yoongi tossing and turning in his sleep, but he had figured he was trying to find a more comfortable position. And Yoongi did look pretty tired this morning, but he brushed it off saying he just needed his morning coffee.
“Oh my God,” Jeongguk mumbled. “He’s been miserable here. And he hasn’t said a thing!”
No wonder he’d been skirting around Jeongguk repeatedly asking if he’d slept well.
“I can’t believe he bitched to everyone else he’s stayed with but not to you.”
“Who didn’t bitch to who?” Taehyung asked as he walked into Jeongguk’s apartment like it was his own. “Hi, babe.”
Jimin smiled and gave Taehyung a peck on the lips. “Yoongi. He hasn’t said a thing to Gguk about the light in his apartment.”
“But we got bitched about for a sliver of light under a doorway? He really does like you, Ggukkie.”
✨
If he was lucky, he would just pass out from exhaustion tonight. He had planned on napping in his studio but ended up getting immersed into a song he’d found from a couple of years ago that he decided to revive and work on.
Yoongi stopped in his tracks when he walked further into Jeongguk’s apartment and realized how dark it was. It didn’t make sense because it was still bright outside, sunset still an hour or so off. “Jeongguk?”
A head popped out of the bathroom just then. “Hyung!”
Towels and blankets hung in front of both windows in Jeongguk’s apartment, the room enveloped in darkness. “Did you do this?”
“Jimin talked to me today,” Jeongguk admitted somewhat shyly, walking towards Yoongi with his hands behind his back. “He told me you can’t sleep well with light.”
“Gguk, you didn’t have to do this.”
“Why didn’t you tell me, hyung? You must be so tired.”
Now Yoongi looked a bit shy, fingers fidgeting as he looked everywhere but at Jeongguk and his wide doe eyes. “I didn’t want to burden you, you’re already letting me stay here with you.”
“But I want you to be comfortable here,” Jeongguk said, pout on his lips.
“Thank you, Jeongguk.”
“‘Course, hyung.”
“Let hyung treat you?”
Jeongguk grinned and walked over to the kitchen and flicked on the kitchen light. “I already bought us takeout. Thai.”
Yoongi let a small smile slip and let his bag drop to the floor, walking over to a barstool. “You’re the best, my favorite dongsaeng.”
“I’m going to tell Jimin-hyung and Tae-hyung.”
“Go ahead,” Yoongi said, opening a takeout container. “Think they already know.”
✨
As they crawled into their beds that night, Yoongi could already feel his eyelids closing. Part of him couldn’t believe Jimin ratted him out, but the other part was thankful because now he might get a full night’s sleep for the first time since leaving his apartment.
He was just about to tell Jeongguk goodnight when he heard a small click and suddenly it was brighter behind his eyelids. He slowly peeled them open and was startled when he realized Jeongguk had clicked on his night light.
Iron Man stared him right in the eyes and let him know he did not win.
“Gguk-ah?” Yoongi murmured, hand flopping up on Jeongguk’s bed and feeling around for him.
“Hyung?” Fingers brushed across his hand, stilling his movements. “I thought you were asleep already-”
“Almost,” Yoongi sat up, yawning as he looked up at him. “Iron Man woke me up.”
“Iron Man?” Jeongguk’s eyes furrowed before he realized. “Oh, hyung, I’m sorry.”
“He’s too bright,” Yoongi whined.
If it were any other situation with Yoongi whining Jeongguk would’ve cooed, but instead he just bit his bottom lip before giving Yoongi a wobbly smile. “Hyung, can I tell you something?”
“Hm?”
“You can’t laugh.”
Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
“Promise?”
“I promise.” His fingers flexed in a sort of promise underneath Jeongguk’s hand.
“I’m,” Jeongguk hesitated, sighing before he rushed out his sentence. “I’m scared of the dark.”
Yoongi wasn’t really sure how to respond. It honestly hadn’t been what he was expecting Jeongguk to say. But then again, he didn’t know what he had expected. Just not that.
“It’s really embarrassing, I know. I’m twenty-three and afraid of the dark.”
“Not embarrassing, Gguk.”
“Yes, it is.”
“Okay, maybe it is a little bit. But there’s nothing to be afraid of. Hyung is right here.”
Jeongguk let out a small laugh. “You sound like a dad.”
“Hypothetically, if there were monsters under the bed or in the closet, they’d get to me first. I’m on the floor. I’m the most vulnerable.”
Jeongguk seemed to genuinely consider this for a bit before shaking his head. “I guess you’re right. But I’m not afraid of monsters, Yoongi-hyung. I’m just afraid of the dark. I don’t like not being able to see what’s around me.”
Yoongi sighed, he removed his hand from under Jeongguk’s in favor of running it up and down his arm a couple of times before speaking again. “Can you just turn it off for five minutes? I’ll be asleep then try turning it on.”
“Hyung, if light under a doorway wakes you up then a night light right above your head will too.”
Yoongi groaned and thrashed around rather dramatically, something else that Jeongguk would’ve cooed at in another situation. “Jeonggukkie, I’m not mad at you because I realize you can’t help that you’re scared. But I’m tired. Please, please, can we turn off the light?”
Jeongguk felt bad for his hyung who was looking up at him with a small pout on his lips. He hadn’t slept in two nights now so he figured he’d give up a night of sleep for him. “Okay,” Jeongguk whispered, leaning over and flicking over the switch. The room was engulfed in darkness and Jeongguk laid back in bed.
“Thank you,” Yoongi whispered, finding Jeongguk’s hand to squeeze once, twice, three times. Only moments later Jeongguk heard Yoongi’s breathing even out.
Jeongguk stared straight ahead into the darkness. He heard creaks and aches in the room and could rationalize that it was just the building settling. And he could rationalize the footsteps in the hallway and the wind blowing outside. He just hated how dark it was in here. Hated that he couldn’t see the ceiling or the bathroom door, or the potted plants lining his shelf.
He tried thinking about literally anything else, his assignments, his schedule tomorrow, his advisor meeting next week that he was scared about. He knew it was over when thoughts of Yoongi couldn’t even keep his brain occupied.
He sat up in his bed and crawled to the bottom of it, stepping off and into the bathroom. He quietly closed the door and turned on the light, relief flooding him. He looked in the shower and saw the shampoo, looked on the towel rack and saw the blue and grey towels hanging there, and finally looked in the mirror and saw his face — a bit sweaty, brown hair messy and doe eyes wide.
Jeongguk jumped and let out a startled yelp when the bathroom door opened, revealing Yoongi squinting.
“Jeongguk?”
“Hyung…”
After a few owlish blinks from the elder, he finally seemed to take in Jeongguk’s appearance. “Have you slept at all?”
A simple shake of the head answered Yoongi’s question and he sighed. “Come with hyung.”
“I don’t like it, hyung,” Jeongguk said, a slight wobble to his voice. “I tried, I don’t like it.”
“Okay,” Yoongi said softly, reaching out to hold Jeongguk’s hand. He walked a couple more steps into the bathroom and used his other hand to brush back Jeongguk’s hair, whispering a few more quiet “okays.”
“I’m not scared of monsters. I’m not. I just don’t like not knowing what’s in my room. I mean, I know what’s in my room. It’s what might be in my room that I don’t know about, hyung.”
“Okay,” Yoongi said softly, he moved his hand from Jeongguk’s hand to his hip and kept the other in Jeongguk’s hair, softly playing with it. “I’m sorry I asked you to turn off the night light.”
Jeongguk just nodded his head, sniffling. He couldn’t believe he was about to cry over the dark. Or maybe it was because Yoongi was being so gentle and understanding with him.
Yoongi was always gentle and understanding with Jeongguk. Like last month when Jeongguk spilled ramyun all over Yoongi’s comforter. While tears had immediately welled up in his eyes, apologies tumbling out of his mouth, Yoongi had simply put a hand on Jeongguk’s shoulder, reassured him that it was alright and accidents happen and then put the comforter in the laundry. He even made Jeongguk a whole new bowl of ramyun to eat, while reassuring him it was fine.
“I have an idea,” Yoongi said. “Maybe we can try it, we’ll see if it works.”
“I don’t know, hyung.” Jeongguk tilted his head, looking behind Yoongi’s shoulder.
“If it doesn’t work we can turn back on the night light and that’s that. I’ll just sleep in my studio tomorrow for a few hours.”
Jeongguk frowned. “That’s not fair, hyung.”
Yoongi shrugged. “You’re still a growing boy. You need your sleep for that brain of yours.”
A small smile finally pulled on Jeongguk’s lips. He was distracted enough that Yoongi flipped off the light switch in the bathroom and pulled Jeongguk back to his bed. He maneuvered him so he was closest to the wall and then-
Well, and then he laid down beside him.
He laid right down beside him and crowded against him so he was wedged between the wall and Yoongi, an arm securely around his waist.
“Focus on me. Just focus on me. I’m the only other new thing in your apartment. And Holly, but just focus on me, Ggukkie.”
And so he did. He ignored the creaks and aches of the settling building, the footsteps in the hallway, and the wind outside. Instead, he focused his attention on his hyung that was holding him tightly, his breathing that was starting to even out and the body heat emitting from him. He let himself nuzzle a bit closer, nose pressed against Yoongi’s sternum and eyes drifting shut.
✨
Jeongguk woke slowly, feeling warm and safe.
He first focused on the arm across his waist, then the breathing he could hear, and then the body heat. He nuzzled closer to the body, letting his own arm slide over the other’s waist. It was still fairly dark in the room, he could tell it was morning, but the makeshift curtains were working well — especially if Yoongi was still asleep.
He wasn’t really sure what time it was, but it didn’t matter too much since his first class wasn’t until 10am and he wasn’t meeting Jimin until later this afternoon.
So he let himself have this.
He wished freshman year Jeongguk could see him now because he wouldn’t believe it.
Freshman year Jeongguk who was absolutely crazy about junior year Yoongi. He thought he was the coolest with his mint green hair. He didn’t talk much the first time they met (a small gathering for Namjoon’s birthday), but Jeongguk couldn’t take his eyes off of him and was teased relentlessly later that night by Taehyung. But Jeongguk couldn’t help it, it was like Yoongi demanded his attention without even knowing it. He talked in a low timbre, gave his full attention to whoever was talking, smiled gently and sometimes wide enough to show his gums, his eyes were piercing but softened for his friends.
Him and Jeongguk never really had a chance to talk one-on-one until a couple of months later when they went out for Taehyung’s birthday. This was an occasion where Jeongguk had on his ass eating pants, fully intending to go onto the dance floor and potentially go home with someone. But his excitement quickly went out the window when he got a notification for an email. Normally, he’d ignore it and wait for the next day but the subject line had him worried so he decided to go ahead and click on it. The e-mail was from a professor expressing their concern over the subpar work Jeongguk had submitted the week before. It was enough to dampen his mood and forego all plans of dancing.
So he sat in the booth with Yoongi while the rest of their friends were on the dance floor, the two of them nursing their alcohol.
“Not much of a dancer?” It was Yoongi who spoke first.
“Huh? Oh, no. I love dancing. Just not feeling it tonight,” Jeongguk touched the condensation on his glass with his finger. “You?”
Yoongi snorted. “Namjoon and Jin can beg all they want, I’ll never go out there.”
“No good moves?”
“Too many people,” Yoongi said. “But also, no good moves.”
“Wanna ditch?”
“We haven’t even sung yet,” Jeongguk said, remembering clearly that Namjoon said they had a cake ready that was going to shoot out sparks.
“I don’t think they’ll notice we’re gone. The second that cake is out so many people will crowd around. Besides, the lovebirds are preoccupied.”
Jeongguk scanned his eyes across the club and spotted Jimin and Taehyung, his face scrunching up as he watched Taehyung take a body shot from Jimin’s stomach.
“Fuck. Yeah, let’s go.”
They found themselves down the strip getting lamb skewers, sitting in the freezing cold as they ate and talked. Nothing of real importance, just getting to know each other a bit better. Jeongguk finally told Yoongi why he hadn’t been dancing, sharing the email he’d received and admitting he knew his work was subpar, but his heart just hadn’t been in the assignment.
“How do you put your heart into business administration?” Jeongguk grumbled, taking another big bite.
“Is it something you're passionate about?”
“It’s something that makes my parents happy,” Jeongguk had answered.
Their first official outing together and Jeongguk had opened his big mouth, baring part of him that even Taehyung wasn’t aware of. He hated his degree, hated the thought that he was going to have a nine to five job (that would end up being way more hours).
Jeongguk chuckled to himself now, still wrapped around Yoongi. He could feel him starting to stir awake, his breathing changing and his arm tightening and loosening a few times before he was groaning and stretching his legs out.
“Morning, hyung.”
His only response was a hum and then silence for a few moments before Yoongi seemed to realize the position they were in and where he was.
The arm slid away from his waist and the heat left as Yoongi sat up, fingers running through his hair. “Gguk-ah?”
“That’s me,” Jeongguk answered, trying not to let his voice sound as sad as he felt now that his warmth had left him.
“You sleep okay?”
“Yeah, hyung. I slept great. I think you did too if your snores were anything to go by.”
Jeongguk couldn’t believe the pout on Yoongi’s lips. He kinda wanted to kiss it.
“I don’t snore.”
✨
“So.. you slept with him.”
Yoongi nodded, bringing his headphones down and around his neck.
“Your solution was to sleep with him.”
“Namjoon, this is the sixth time you’ve confirmed this with me. And we didn’t like sleep together. I slept next to him.”
“You slept with Jeongguk-”
“Namjoon, holy shit, yes. I slept with Jeongguk. We shared the same bed as we slept through the night.”
“Are you doing okay?”
Yoongi gave Namjoon a confused look. “What?”
“Is your heart doing okay?”
“Why would my heart not be okay?”
“You have a huge heart boner for Jeongguk.”
“First of all, never say heart boner again. Second of all, no I don’t.”
“You’re the one who first called it a heart boner our junior year.”
“I was drunk. You can’t hold me accountable.”
Namjoon rolled his eyes, opening the door to Yoongi’s studio to leave. Of course he didn’t leave quietly. “Try not to bust a blood vessel tonight from your heart boner.”
In all actuality, Yoongi had wanted to scream into his hands this morning when he woke up and fully comprehended that he was cuddled all up to Jeongguk. And yes his heart was beating like crazy when he looked down and saw Jeongguk’s sleepy face - eyes a bit puffy, hair tousled, a sleepy smile.
If he were Namjoon, he’d say his heart boner grew ten sizes right then and there but he was not Namjoon.
✨
“You just slept?” Taehyung asked, his voice holding a hint of disappointment.
Jeongguk put down the weights, resting his hands on his hips. “Yeah, but his arm was around my waist and we were super close.”
“But you just slept,” Taehyung repeated.
“What’s wrong with just sleeping? Hyung was tired.”
“I can guarantee that the night would have ended differently had you worn your ass eating pants.”
“I think it was really sweet of him, Ggukkie,” Jimin commented from where he was on the lat pull-down machine. “And it was a win-win for both of you. You both got sleep.”
“You should make a move tonight,” Jimin suggested.
“No way!” Jeongguk seemed scandalized at the mere suggestion.
“He’s totally into you, Gguk. Ever since freshman year when you and hyung ditched my birthday party. Which, by the way, was so rude of you both. If you’re going to skip my birthday party at least make something come from it.”
“Yoongi and I are great friends because of it.”
“Something more. Like get his dick.”
“I’m not making a move on Yoongi-hyung when he’s just trying to sleep.”
“Of course not,” Taehyung interjected. “Make sure he’s awake. Unless he’s into that kind of thing but make sure it’s consensual.”
Jeongguk just sighed, not even bothering to fight Taehyung.
“I can’t believe you didn’t pop a boner.”
“Taehyung!”
✨
Okay, so maybe Yoongi’s heart was about to pop a boner. But the thing is, it was only because Jeongguk looked so beautiful out in the cold with his nose and cheeks red, lamb skewer in hand and city lights shining behind him.
“Is there something wrong?” Jeongguk asked, mouth full of food.
“No,” Yoongi shook his head. “Nothing’s wrong.”
“You’re looking at me funny.”
“Just looking at you.”
Jeongguk felt heat rise to his cheeks and was grateful for the cold already making his cheeks red. “Alright.”
“How are classes going?”
Terrible. Jeongguk wanted to completely drop out and do literally anything else. “Same old, hyung.”
At this point, Yoongi knew better than to try and talk Jeongguk into doing exactly that — anything else. He’d tried, numerous times, until Jeongguk kindly asked him to stop and told him if this would make his parents happy then he didn’t mind.
Yoongi wanted Jeongguk to be happy though.
Even if it was just at this moment, he wanted Jeongguk to be happy.
So he got up from his chair, went to the ajumeoni, and bought Jeongguk two more lamb skewers.
✨
Yoongi tousled his damp hair with his hands, scowling when droplets landed on the page of his book. He briefly had a feeling of gratitude that he was going home soon because an extra day and he wouldn’t have had a book to read anymore to distract himself from Jeongguk.
It was like God heard him thinking about distractions when the bathroom door creaked open and out walked the biggest distraction Yoongi had witnessed in a very long time. There stood a very bare-chested Jeongguk with a towel wrapped around his waist.
Yoongi could feel heat rising on his cheeks, both of them turning pink from the man in front of him. His blush was much the same as Jeongguk’s that spread from his chest and up to his neck.
Yoongi tried his best to keep his eyes on Jeongguk’s face, but if they trailed down a bit to look at his defined pecs and the abs that were no doubt thanks to the early morning runs and gym days, well, Yoongi just couldn’t help it.
“I, um,” Jeongguk reached down for the clothes at the end of the bed and held them up to show Yoongi. “Pajamas.”
Yoongi only nodded, forcing his mouth to close. God, did his arms just flex while lifting up pajamas?
The moment Jeongguk walked back into the bathroom and closed the door, Yoongi slapped his book shut and a deafening silence followed. He placed a hand over his heart, taking deep breaths.
“Oh my God,” he whispered, picking up his phone and shoving his book to the side.
yoongi
okay let’s say i have a heart boner
how do i get in bed next to jeongguk after i just saw him half naked
joonie
????
There wasn’t even time for Yoongi to reply before the bathroom door was opening again, Jeongguk slowly walking out with a shy smile in Yoongi’s direction.
“Ready to sleep, hyung?”
Yoongi only nodded, afraid his voice would betray him. He set his book on the floor by the bed while Jeongguk turned off the light, but not before giving Holly a pat on his head and a kiss on his nose. The gesture brought a smile to Yoongi’s face as he slid further down the bed.
Jeongguk went to the end of the bed and placed his hand down, finding Yoongi’s foot before crawling into bed between the wall and Yoongi. There were some giggles as Jeongguk struggled to get under the sheets and Yoongi tried to help, but soon the quiet laughter turned into quiet sighs and then silence.
“Only two more nights with your hyung and then I’ll be out of your hair.”
“It hasn’t been too bad with you here, hyung. It’s just the snoring that bothers me.”
“Oh, shut up.” Yoongi laughed, no real malice behind his words.
The two lay side by side, not an inch of skin touching unlike the previous night. Jeongguk found that it was hard to focus on anything else but the darkness without Yoongi a bit closer. Last night he had been able to focus on the touch, the rise and fall of his chest, the weight of his arm. Now all he could focus on was hearing the air go in and out of Yoongi’s lungs.
And the breathing wasn’t loud enough to block out the creaks and aches, the footsteps, and the wind. It wasn’t loud enough to keep his mind from wandering and making him think he was hearing noises on the other side of his box shelf where his books and potted plants sat. Because what if there was someone on the other side just waiting for the two?
Something must’ve given Jeongguk away because he hears before he feels. He hears Yoongi roll onto his side and then he feels Yoongi’s arm slide over his waist. This time it’s Yoongi’s head on Jeongguk’s chest.
“Sleep, Ggukkie. Hyung is here.”
So Jeongguk shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and swallowed. He could feel the weight of Yoongi. He placed his hand on Yoongi’s back, letting it rise and fall with his breathing. He could feel Yoongi’s body heat. He could feel the flannel of Yoongi’s pajamas under his fingers.
He could feel his eyes growing heavier and his brain shutting down.
He could feel his heart beating erratically and thought he could feel Yoongi’s too.
✨
Yoongi didn’t let himself be startled this time when he woke up wrapped around Jeongguk. They’d shifted some in the night, Jeongguk embracing Yoongi now, leg thrown over both of Yoongi’s. He let his arms tighten just a bit before humming contentedly.
He was warm, well rested, and absolutely smitten with Jeongguk.
“Hyung,” Jeongguk mumbled, nuzzling his nose into Yoongi’s arm. “S’warm.”
“You have class?” Yoongi asked, placing his chin on top of Jeongguk’s hair.
There’s a noise that sounds like a “no” so Yoongi stays how he is, both of them basking in the warmth of one another. They were basking in silence again, their silence that they both found comfortable.
“You have work,” Jeongguk stated. He knew Yoongi needed to get up any minute, if not already, and start getting ready.
“Five more minutes.”
Jeongguk hid his smile against Yoongi’s skin.
✨
“I wanna kiss him so badly, Joon,” Yoongi groaned, pressing the heels of his palms over his eyelids hard enough to where he started seeing bursts of colors. He kicked his feet a few times for good measure.
“Then kiss him.”
“That’s the worst advice I’ve ever received.”
“I don’t know what kind of advice you want,” Namjoon admitted. “You want to kiss him so kiss him. You don’t need some elaborate plan. You’re not Jimin and Taehyung.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, remembering the way Taehyung had orchestrated a horse-drawn carriage and for their favorite song to be playing when they pulled up to the Han River by a man and his ukelele before Taehyung finally pulled Jimin into a kiss.
“I literally called him ‘kid’ the other morning. He totally thinks he’s just my dongsaeng and besides, I don’t even know if he likes me.”
Yoongi couldn’t believe how wide Namjoon’s eyes were with shock? Surprise? Exasperation?
“Are you blind? That kid is so in love with you. He turned off his night light for you. Twice now.”
✨
“I thought he was going to kiss me,” Jeongguk said, lying down on his yoga mat.
He looked to his left and saw Jimin staring at him. He looked to his right and saw Taehyung staring at him. Both of them wore matching expressions: pity.
He took a deep breath. “I wanted him to kiss me.”
“Aw, Jeonggukkie.” He smacked Taehyung’s hand away.
“I know I looked cute. I always look cute in the morning. My hair is always messy and my sleepy smile is so cute! Even with my puffy eyes I look cute.”
“The cutest,” Jimin agreed.
“And he just looked at me. And he slowly smiled back. And I wanted him to kiss me and I kinda thought he would.”
If Jeongguk closed his eyes he could see it clearly. After Yoongi had begged for five more minutes, they had laid there all snuggled up for probably ten. And then Yoongi sat up and just stared at him for a while. His left arm holding him up and his right still resting across Jeongguk.
A shy “what?” crossed Jeongguk’s lips but he was only met with a slow shake of the head from Yoongi who tucked a piece of Jeongguk’s hair behind his ear before getting out of their warm cocoon and retreating to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
“Hyung has advice for you, little one,” Taehyung proclaimed, sitting up and crossing his legs. He placed both of his hands on his knees and straightened his back. “Go out with him tonight. Have celebratory drinks. Get just tipsy enough, and then kiss him.”
Jeongguk raised an eyebrow.
“The alcohol will put you enough at ease to actually kiss him,” Taehyung explained. “And I’m not saying go to a club, cause I know that’s not your scene or Yoongi-hyung’s. Go to a nice restaurant or something. Go to your lamb skewer stall, buy soju, chill on your kitchen floor, just have alcohol.”
“I’m not sure,” Jeongguk mumbled, biting his bottom lip.
“How do you think I got the guts to kiss Jimin?”
Jeongguk rolled his eyes. “How did you get the guts to do anything you did that night?”
✨
“What’s this?” Yoongi asked, walking into Jeongguk’s apartment and immediately toeing off his shoes in favor of slipping on the grey slippers at the door that were now deemed his.
He greeted Holly, his voice going a few octaves higher than usual as he showered him in love, repeating how much he had missed him all day.
“Just thought it’d be like a going away party, hyung.”
Yoongi laughed, sitting down across from Jeongguk. He crossed his legs and leaned back on his palms. “A going away party? I’m still going to be in town, Jeongguk-ah.”
“Yeah, but you won’t be here .”
“Thank God, right? You can finally have your night light back and I won’t be in your space.”
Jeongguk only hummed as he opened the box of chicken he’d bought them, pushing it in between the two of them. “Don’t mind you being in my space, hyung,” he said gently as he brought chicken up to his lips.
Yoongi grinned, grabbing a bottle of soju and dramatically flipping it around with sound effects before popping it open. He didn’t think Jeongguk’s scrunched up nose and laugh would ever leave his thoughts.
Jeongguk opened his soju just as dramatically, if not more, just to get a laugh out of Yoongi and it worked. His mouth opened as he laughed, gums showing and eyes twinkling. He wanted to keep making Yoongi laugh and his eyes twinkle. He wanted to hang onto the warmth he felt around Yoongi — even when he wasn’t clinging to him during the dark nights.
They were back to their comfortable silence for a while, the only sounds in the small apartment was the crispy chicken and soju being swallowed down, down, down.
“Should I go get more?” Yoongi asked, as he gave Jeongguk one of the two last soju bottles.
Jeongguk shook his head, knowing he was already past tipsy. “S’okay, hyung.”
There were a lot of words Jeongguk wanted to let tumble out of his mouth, words that were close to tumbling out. All he had to do was open his mouth and they’d be said on their own accord. And then maybe he’d find out if Yoongi felt the same or not, like so many of his friends believed he did.
He took another drink of his soju.
But is this really how he wanted it to go? He frowned, looking at the bottle in front of him. He shouldn’t have to be tipsy to talk to Yoongi like this. He deserved so much more than a tipsy Jeongguk spilling his guts over some fried chicken.
“Okay, Gguk-ah?”
“Yeah, hyung, I’m just going to miss you.”
Yoongi gave Jeongguk a smile. “I’ll miss you, too.”
✨
“Don’t have to be scared tonight, Ggukkie. Just me and Holly here,” Yoongi whispered in the dark, his words slurring together and bringing warmth to Jeongguk’s chest.
He wrapped his arms around Yoongi a bit tighter and slotted a leg between his. He pressed his nose to his neck and inhaled, feeling Yoongi tense briefly before relaxing and leaning his head back just a bit more for him.
“Hyung,” Jeongguk whispered.
“Yeah?”
Jeongguk placed a small kiss on Yoongi’s neck, then angled up and placed one more under his chin. “Thank you.”
Yoongi hummed, feeling tingles all the way down to his toes. He felt warm and comfortable, safe with Jeongguk in his arms.
Jeongguk’s lips simply rested against Yoongi’s skin and it was all he could focus on. It almost burned, but in the most pleasant way. Yoongi just wanted to angle his head down a bit and give Jeongguk a gentle kiss, sweet and slow, gentle and calm.
These were the only thoughts in his mind as he felt Jeongguk go lax against him and heard his breathing become slower. These are the same thoughts that lulled him to sleep and had his arms tightening just a bit more around Jeongguk.
The building still creaked and ached, settling just a bit more. And the footsteps still came and went in the hallway. The wind still blew outside, but all of that was lost on the two boys who were wrapped up in one another.
Outside the moon was round and full, stars gone due to smog, but on its own, the moon lit the room just a bit more than usual — Jeongguk’s towels, however, kept it dark enough for Yoongi to have a peaceful sleep.
And if Yoongi felt lips against his neck again in the night, giving him a dry, chaste kiss, he’d rack it up as a dream, something his brain conjured up during the night. It was a dream he wanted to have over and over again, and maybe with more touching and warm smiles.
✨
When Yoongi woke the next morning it was to light coming in the window by the bed. He glanced over his shoulder and saw that the way Jeongguk had rigged up the blankets was starting to fall, allowing the light to sneak in through the top corner.
He let out a small yawn, stretching his legs and wiggling his fingers.
“Tickles.”
Yoongi huffed out a small laugh. “Sorry.”
Jeongguk blinked his eyes open slowly as he was in no rush to get up since it was a Saturday, meaning no classes and no working out. Just homework and other chores around his apartment, but he could ignore all of that right now for the warmth that was wrapped around him.
Apparently, Jeongguk had no shame this morning as he nuzzled back against Yoongi’s chest, yawning quietly as his eyes blinked shut again. He wouldn’t mind staying like this for the rest of the day or week or even the rest of his life if he wanted to be honest with himself. He’d love to wake up around Yoongi like this every day.
When Jeongguk woke again it was to Holly stepping on his feet, he looked down and watched him walk back and forth between Yoongi and him before walking in a circle one, two, three times and curling up with a big sigh.
He gave a small smile, only looking away when he heard Yoongi shifting and pushing himself up. He wasn’t ready to get up yet because getting up meant he had to give this up and he’d be back in this apartment all by himself, just him and his Iron Man night light.
But when Jeongguk looked up, he saw an image he’d just seen the other morning.
It was just like that morning. Yoongi looked down at him, a small tilt to his head. His left arm supporting him while his right was resting on Jeongguk, fingers splayed across his side.
Jeongguk smiled shyly and made a small sound, wanting to know what Yoongi was thinking as he looked down on him with those eyes and that small smile on his lips. And he felt his breath stop for a moment when Yoongi’s hand slid up his side, across his sternum, and settled on the side of his neck, thumb rubbing along Jeongguk’s jaw.
“Hyung,” Jeongguk whispered, afraid to speak too loudly in the silence they had created for themselves. Kiss me kiss me kiss me.
The sunlight peeking in through Jeongguk’s makeshift curtains made Yoongi look angelic, a small glow behind him. And Jeongguk couldn’t find it in himself to look away. He slowly reached up and wrapped his hand around Yoongi’s wrist, his thumb momentarily pausing the light strokes it had been making on Jeongguk’s jaw.
“Hyung,” Jeongguk whispered again. Kiss me kiss me kiss me.
“Jeonggukkie,” Yoongi said and Jeongguk thought it was the most beautiful his name had ever sounded.
Kiss me kiss me kiss me.
There was a small moment where Yoongi hesitated as he leaned forward, a fraction of a second. Jeongguk slid his free hand to the back of Yoongi’s neck, an encouragement to come closer. Kiss me kiss me kiss me.
Yoongi’s lips were soft, something Jeongguk had wondered about a million times over . Soft and gentle and sweet, just like Yoongi himself.
For a brief moment, they pulled apart, eyes slowly opening before Jeongguk pulled Yoongi back forward for another kiss, fingers lightly scratching the back of Yoongi’s scalp.
The kiss never escalated but rather stayed gentle and calm, warm and bright. The two just stared at one another once they pulled away before laughter bubbled out of Jeongguk’s throat and pulled a smile from Yoongi who flopped back on the bed, throwing his arm over his face to hide his flushed cheeks.
“You kissed me,” Jeongguk said. He moved around on the bed, placing his upper body on top of Yoongi and grinning down at him.
Yoongi didn’t reply, just reached up and brushed a strand of hair out of Jeongguk’s face before pulling him back in for one more.
✨
“Holly!” Jeongguk greeted the dog, bending down to accept the wet kisses.
“The dog gets a greeting before me?”
Jeongguk looked up at Yoongi with a smile on his face, nose scrunching as a giggle escaped his lips. And much like a few weeks ago, Yoongi felt his breathing stutter for a moment as he watched the face in front of him literally light up.
Pushing himself up from the floor, Jeongguk smiled and wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s waist. “Hi, hyung.”
Yoongi pouted. “When will you greet me first?”
Jeongguk grinned, giving Yoongi’s pout a quick kiss. “Whenever you’re suddenly cuter than Holly.”
“Yah! And to think I brought you lamb skewers.”
Jeongguk only grinned, reaching down to grab the takeout bag from Yoongi’s grasp. “Thank you, baby.”
The blush that spread across Yoongi’s cheek was so cute Jeongguk wanted to take a hundred pictures of it. Maybe later he could convince Yoongi to let him, they had all weekend.
Yoongi shrugged off his bag (his boyfriend bag — the one he hadn’t used in a while because he had no boyfriend to spend the night with until recently), tossing it onto Jeongguk’s bed.
“Hyung, I got you something. Well, us something.”
“Us?” Yoongi curiously looked at the bag Jeongguk grabbed from the couch he’d finally bought a couple of weeks ago.
The bag was pushed toward Yoongi so he put his hand inside and pulled out the item, letting out a small laugh. “Blackout curtains?”
“Yeah, figured we need to upgrade from towels and blankets.”
Yoongi smiled, reaching forward and wrapping his hand around Jeongguk’s wrist to pull him closer. “Thanks, Gguk.”
“I almost bought the red ones with Iron Man on them to match my night light.”
Yoongi laughed, thinking Jeongguk was the most endearing person he knew. “Would still love you regardless.”
Jeongguk blinked slowly, eyes wide like an owl. It was the first time Yoongi had said that. “You love me?”
“Of course, I slept in a room with light for you.”
And he would’ve loved to wax poetic about Jeongguk being the only light he needed, but he saved that for the songwriting.
Jeongguk grinned even wider, pushing himself in between Yoongi’s legs. “Let’s eat later. Wanna kiss you lots instead.”
“Can we hang up the curtains first?”
