Work Text:

The shrill sound of the alarm ringing woke Shinsou from his thoughts, having been awake for a while, and making him rush to turn it off before it woke his foster father and risked having him hurt again. Shinsou listened for like a second, before he hurriedly got dressed and grabbed his backpack before practically running out. He let out a sigh as he fixed the jacket of his UA uniform before making his way to the school. Once he got there, he made sure to keep his face to the ground so no one saw the bruises and cuts covering it. He made it to his first class without incident, making him sigh with relief. Relief was short lived though when he heard his boyfriend scream his name.

“Shit…” He whispered immediately knowing that Denki was going to immediately notice the bruising. People may think he’s dumb but he’s actually pretty smart and he also notices things about the ones he loves. Especially when it comes to Shinsou, as it seemed like he had a keene sense maybe when it comes to him. “Hi baby.” Shinsou said as he didn’t look at Denki, immediately alerting the other boy to something being wrong.

“What’s wrong?” Denki asked worriedly.

“Nothing, I'm fine baby. Don’t worry about it.”

“Hitoshi.” Denki said, gently putting his hand on Shinsou’s face and turning it so he looked at him. He gasped when he saw the bruising and the cuts adjoining the boy’s face. “Who did this to you?” He asked with anger in his eyes.

“No one. I fell… Walking…”

“It was him wasn’t it?” Denki asked, immediately figuring it was the man that had been causing Shinsou’s life to go from pretty okay to down right shit, at least when he's at home. Shinsou sighed and nodded, looking up at the other boy through his eyelashes.

“Damn it! Shinsou, baby we have to tell Aizawa. We have to get you out of there.”

“No! I can’t tell him! Please Kami!!” Shinsou begged, letting fear show in his eyes at the thought of telling his mentor, his father figure what happened to him.

“Is that the only place he hurt?” Denki asked instead of answering. Shinsou sighed before shaking his head slightly. “Show me.”

Shinsou closed his eyes before opening them and looking around. He then grabbed Denki’s hand and pulled him into the bathroom nearby. Once the door was locked, he had Denki lean against the sink before taking off his jacket then his shirt. Normally, Denki would be turning red at the sight of a shirtless Shinsou, but with what he was looking at and what he learned happened again, he found he couldn’t enjoy the sight as much at the moment.

“It’s not as bad as it looks.” Shinsou said as he watched Denki.

“Baby, your whole chest is purple.” Denki said, looking at him incredulously. He reached up and gently felt along Shinsou’s ribs, making the other boy hiss in pain. Denki muttered sorry as he felt the boy’s chest more before he sighed. “Okay, I know you don’t want to. But you have multiple broken ribs and you know you can’t train today like that. You’ll end up breaking one off and puncturing something, so you need to tell him. And now you don’t have a choice. Baby, I love you and I’m worried about you. That’s why I’m making you tell him. I’m scared that he’ll end up killing you if you stay there.”

“Okay…” Shinsou said quietly.

Denki sighed as he leaned up on his tiptoes and took Shinsou’s face into his hands.

“I love you Hitoshi, and I can’t stand to keep seeing you get hurt. I’m so scared that one of these days you aren’t going to survive what he does to you, and I don’t want that to happen. I need you here with me, by my side.”

“I love you too…” Shinsou said quietly. He put his shirt back on, wincing as he did so before sighing again and taking Denki’s hand before walking out of the bathroom and to their class. “I’ll tell him after class, okay? I promise.”

“Thank you.” Denki sighed with relief. He then leaned up and kissed Shinsou, making the other boy smile as he pulled him in closer. Shinsou pulled away before leaning his head against Denki’s and closing his eyes.

“Boys.” A voice said from behind them making the two jump.

“Hi Mr.Aizawa.” Denki said more subdued than normal, usually he says Mr. Aizawa’s name excitedly whenever he sees the teacher.

Aizawa immediately took notice of this. “Is everything okay?”

Shinsou sighed as he noticed the look Denki was giving him. “Actually no… Can I talk to you somewhere that isn’t the middle of the hallway?”

Aizawa nodded before leading the boys to his empty classroom.

“I have the others outside right now, training their quirks.” Aizawa said when he saw the confused look on Shinsou’s face. “Denki, you can go join them.”

“Can he stay? I’d just… I’d prefer he’d stay…. He already knows what I wanna tell you.”

“Sure. What’s this about kid?”

"Um…. I can't train with you today. It's not that I don't want to, it's just…." Shinsou stopped and bit his lip looking at Denki who nodded at him. Shinsou took a deep breath. "I think its best to show you before I explain." Shinsou said before pulling off his shirt before he could rethink what he was about to do. He saw Aizawa's eyes widen at the sight. "My foster father… He uh… he likes to use me as a punching bag whenever he's angry…. Or gets drunk…. Or I do something wrong…. Which is all the time in his eyes…" Shinsou stopped speaking at the look in Aizawa's eyes. There was anger in his eyes but also protectiveness? Shinsou didn't understand why he'd feel protective of him, after all he's not worth it.

"Kid, all those times you came covered in bruises and you said that you fell? Which I never believed by the way, after all I have been training you so I know you are not clumsy at all, so you wouldn't fall that much. Kid, why didn't you tell me? I could have helped you, gotten you out of there."

"Where would I have gone though? Back to the group home? I don't wanna go through that again." Shinsou sighed as he looked into Aizawa's eyes. "Honestly I didn't tell you because I was scared. Scared you'd think I'm weak and stop training me. Scared you'd leave me and I'd lose the one good father that I have." Shinsou looked down, not seeing Aizawa's eyes widen at being called his father.

"Kid, I'm not letting you go back there, but I'm also not letting you go back to the group home. Shinsou… Hitoshi." He said to make sure he got his attention, and when he saw the boy's head shoot up, he knew he did. "I want you to come stay with me and Present Mic." Shinsou's eyes widened even more at that. "Do you want to?"

Shinsou stared at him with his mouth hanging open before looking at Denki, who nodded at him with a smile on his face. "Yes." He heard his voice crack which made him wince before he cleared it. "Yes I want to stay with you." He said. He felt embarrassed by the tears that filled his eyes making Aizawa pull him in for a hug.

"You're gonna be okay now kiddo." He said as he rested his chin on the kid's head. "I'm going to have to also take pictures of your injuries though. So we have proof against your foster father so he can be arrested." Shinsou nodded and Aizawa took the pictures before helping Shinsou put his shirt back on. He then followed Aizawa out to the field where the others were training. Before they walked onto the field, Denki stopped him.

"See it's a good thing I told you to tell him huh." Denki smiled at him.

"Yeah. Thank you for making me do it." Shinsou then pulled him in for a hug before planting a kiss on the other boy's lips. "I love you."

"I love you too."
