Work Text:

Class 1-A were on yet another camping trip, yeah they don’t learn from those, and this time they haven’t been attacked by villains. No everything was peaceful, but the thing is the woods have some dangerous animals that can attack at any moment. And the students find this out when a bear comes into the campground. When they saw him enter sniffing around, they all froze. Shinsou was unfortunately the closest to the big bear so he tried to stay still as possible. The bear let out a roar as it stood on his hind legs. Suddenly the bear looked at Shinsou, making him freeze. His eyes went from the bear, over to Oijiro, then back to the bear.

“Don’t… move.” Oijiro said quietly.

Shinsou gave him a sheepish smile that made Oijiro realize just what the boy was about to do. Shinsou then took off running, the bear following him. Everyone’s eyes widened as they watched him take off. Shinsou ran faster, risking a risk behind him to see the bear closing in. He felt the bear catch up and tackle him, bringing it’s claws down and cutting his chest open. He saw the blood splatter on the ground as he felt the bear's claws swipe at him again. Suddenly, he saw the bear lean down before taking a bite into Shinsou’s side, making the boy screams as he felt his side tear open and start gushing blood. Shinsou struggled underneath him before finally pulling away and taking off again. Suddenly as he ran, he felt his foot slide down a mountain and soon he was rolling down it. When he finally stopped, his head hit a huge rock making him lose consciousness.

After Shinsou had taken off, the others ran after him. When they didn’t see him or the bear they started calling his name. “Guys…” Ochako called when she saw blood on the ground in multiple spots.

Ojiro stared at it before pushing past them and calling the other boy's name loudly, worry making him start to freak out. “Shinsou!!!” He yelled as he continued to look. Suddenly he froze seeing the bear standing in front of him, blood covering his muzzle along with on his paws.

“No…” He said as he saw all the blood, and didn’t see Shinsou. All he saw was the bear with blood on his muzzle and covering the floor beneath him too. There was so much blood, that there was no way Shinsou was able to get away and survive.

“Oh God…” He heard Momo say from behind him.

“We need to find him, but first can you make something that will distract the bear?”

“Yeah.” Momo then focused before pulling something from her chest. She then threw it to the bear who caught it between his teeth, before laying down to start munching on it happily. “Uncooked venison.”

Ojiro mouthed “ohhh.” before they decided to focus on trying to find Shinsou. After a while, they had to go back to the campground to regroup.

“I hate to say it, you know I do Ojiro, but we all saw the blood. With how much there was and… and how long it’s been, I’m sorry to say but we’ll be looking for a body now.”

“There you are.” Aizawa said from behind them, the group not having noticed him standing there. Aizawa’s eyes wandered over the group, silently taking in all of his class and noticed he was missing one. “Where’s Shinsou?” He immediately noticed the looks between the class, making him worry. “Where is he?” Aizawa asked, worry in his voice.

“Mr. Aizawa… There was a bear and Shinsou uh he ran off to get the bear away and when we looked for him we found a lot of blood. So much that… with the time that has passed… We will not find him alive. I’m sorry sir.”

Aizawa’s chest was rising up and down rapidly as he looked around wearily.

“He’s…”

“He’s gone sir, there is no way he survived. When we found the bear again he was covered in blood and the ground around him was also covered. Um, its been a couple hours at the least since the attack and we haven’t been able to find him. I’m sorry sir. I know he was like a son to you.”

“He wasn’t like a son to me, he was my kid. I adopted him…. We were going to tell him after the trip…” Aizawa said as he stared out at the trees but didn’t really see them.

Aizawa sighed as he focused on the kids. “Okay, so this is what we are going to do, we are going to wait till first light before we head out again. We will look all over the woods until we find him, we’ll bring him home. Even if he’s…” Aizawa couldn’t finish that statement.

He cleared his throat before turning and going to where Shinsou’s bags were before kneeling and opening the small pouch and taking out the picture the boy always took with him on trips. He sat down and stared at the picture of him and Shinsou, shinsou stood in the front while making a cat motion while Aizawa stood more in the back. He ran his hand over the image of Shinsou and tried to fight the tears.

Suddenly he heard a gasp and turned to see Shinsou, covered in dirt and blood, stumble into the clearing. He saw Ojiro run and catch him as he fell. Ojiro gently eased him down to the ground with him, making sure his head rested on his shoulder so that he was able to breathe okay.

“Hi...hi…” The boy gasped out as he laid in Ojiro’s arms.

“I can’t believe you’re alive.” He sobbed as he held him closer. Aizawa dropped to his knees beside the boy and checked over his wounds. He put a hand on one and sighed when he saw that it was dried up.

“I’m calling Hawks.” He said as he watched Shinsou struggle to stay awake.

Aizawa pulled out his phone and quickly dialed him.

“Sup?” Hawks said.

“Need your help, where we took the kids. They were attacked by a bear and Shinsou’s hurt.”

“Be right there.” He could hear the seriousness in his voice for once.

True to his word, Hawks soon was there and took Shinsou into his arms. He then told them where he was taking the kid before taking up into the air. Before they knew it, they were all piled back into the bus and driven to the hospital where they waited to hear. After a while, a doctor came out.

“You’re very lucky to bring him in when you did. Any longer and he wouldn’t have made it. He lost a lot of blood, and some injuries had gotten infected probably from the bear’s claws. But we have him on antibodies and a nasal cannula. But he’s going to be fine.”

“Can I see him?” Aizawa asked.

“Yeah, a nurse will take you to him.”

Soon the nurse came and they were brought to him. Aizawa collapsed beside the kid and grabbed his hand. After a while of them sitting there, Shinsou started to wake up, making them all look at him.

“Hey kiddo.” Aizawa said when Shinsou opened his eyes.

“Hey…” He said as he looked at the people around him. “Everyone okay?”

“Yeah, you were the only one hurt.”

“Good. I don’t want anyone else to be hurt.” Shinsou said as he closed his eyes and started to fall asleep again.

“Rest.” Aizawa whispered before leaning in and kissing the boy’s head in a moment of softness.

He then turned to the other kids and told them to try to sleep, they’d be going back to the dorm as soon as Shinsou is allowed to leave. It wasn’t until a few days later that Shinsou was released and able to go back home, but told he couldn’t do any training for a couple more weeks, but he was fine with that. Because that meant he could just spend some time with Ojiro. And he was more than happy with that.
