Work Text:

Anyone who knew Shirai Kuroko well enough, also knew that she was a good student. Not a straight A's student, but a good student still. Enough to meet the expectations of the prestigious Tokiwadai Middle School. Not that it was particularly hard, but it did require some effort and time.
Even with her heavy workload as a member of Academy City's very active disciplinary committee, she always did her homework with diligence, took the time to study, and paid attention in class.
Especially the latter, which she was not doing at all right now.

On this fine, sunny day, Kuroko was sitting in the back of the classroom with her notebook open on her desk, as a thick, thick fog of thoughts comfortably separated her attention from the chatting of her classmates and whatever lecture her teacher was giving.
They could blast all of these sounds on the school speakers, and she probably wouldn't care much.
She let out a quiet sigh and turned her gaze towards the nearest window, letting her mind fly further away from the classroom.

It all started last weekend, when the teleporter went home for a special occasion: attending her cousin's wedding.
Despite not wanting to miss a single opportunity to spend her free time with her Onee-sama, and trying to find the best excuses she could in order to stay, her mother did not flinch. She was forced to go anyway.
Well, it couldn't be helped... Akano's wedding was a big event and most of the family would attend as well.
It's not like she didn't like her, but it's not like they were close either.
In fact they rarely spoke to each other. Not out of complete indifference or dislike, but most likely because of their age gap, and lack of common interests.
The ceremony seemed to be lasting for days, during which she just kept analyzing the couple.
The man her cousin chose to marry carried the tender name of Satoshi.
"A banal name for a banal face." she thought.
He had nothing special. A classic japanese guy, as common as can be. Dark eyes, even darker hair, slightly tanned skin.
She contemplated with annoyance his similarities to a certain ape her dear electromaster seemed to fancy.
Why did all the women around her share such bad taste in men? What a waste.
Though, Kuroko did reason for a second that she may be influenced by her own complete lack of "taste in men".

So there she was, eating appetizers in a beautiful evening dress that slightly flattered her underdeveloped form. Being the lady she is, she felt it was her duty to dress and look as mature as possible, with a formal, elegant touch. Shirai Kuroko was no child. And she would not look like one. A girl could dream...
Of course, she couldn't resist sending a picture to her beloved Mikoto, with the caption "Onee-sama can come eat me up whenever she wants~" that got her a flat "Enjoy your evening."

"Aaaah Onee-sama~" gasped the tea-haired girl "As cold as ever ! You're breaking poor, poor Kuroko's heart!"

During that long, boring evening, she got to talk to her cousin. It was unexpected, but she had welcomed the interaction nonetheless. She learned a bit more about both of them. Akano and Satoshi, respectively 23 and 27, met on their university campus and fell madly in love. While she was currently studying business administration(surely with the intention of working for White Springs Holdings, the family business), he was on his way to complete doctoral studies in bio-tech engineering.
She also learned from them that although it was contrary to tradition, they had decided that Satoshi would take his wife's name and not the opposite.

"That is not a surprise," the young woman told herself, as she gave them an understanding nod. "After all, the Shirai family is influential and successful."

Even though she didn't show it, she couldn't help but feel a tiny bit of pride, knowing that her name had that kind of power. Not that she really cared, most of the time, but something deep inside of her shamefully hoped it would make her a good enough match to a certain someone..

"Kuroko, is there anyone you like?" her cousin asked suddenly.

The tea haired girl had almost choked on her drink while a furious blush invaded her cheeks. If she didn't know that her cousin was studying nowhere near Academy City, she would've thought the woman was secretly a telepath.

"M-my! That's a rather personal question!" she let out in a bit of a panic.

While she was by no means ashamed of her feelings of love towards another girl, she had definitely not prepared herself to talk about it now. Where did that even come from?

"Oh, I am guessing there is~" the bride insisted.

Kuroko looked away. "... There is..." she muttered.

Flashes of chestnut hair came to her mind.
A stubborn, hot-headed person that didn't listen to anybody but herself. However, hang around her long enough and you'll get to see her strong, caring side..
That was the person she liked.
She hoped her cousin wouldn't try to press the matter any more. And she did not.
Instead, she gave her a warm smile.

"I really hope you will get to feel the happiness of marrying someone you love."

Kuroko wrote on her notebook, fondly remembering the kind words.
She hoped for it too. For a happy marriage with her fated soulmate, whoever that might be.
The only person she could think about was Misaka Mikoto.
Although she deliberately acted in a silly, perverted way with the Electric Princess, her feelings for her were nothing short of sincere love.
Yes, love. Kuroko was absolutely certain about the nature of her feelings. This was way beyond your ordinary schoolgirl crush.
The way her heart skipped a bit when she called her name. The way her chest felt like it was about to burst when she smiled at her. This desire to share her burden, to make her happy, this undying urge to be by her side.
"I want to become her strength."
Her Onee-sama was far from perfect. In fact, she had a lot of bad sides. She was childish, a bit selfish at times, and she had serious anger issues.
Yet Kuroko cherished all of her.

They had shared a room, laughed together, cried together, fought together. While you could say these aren't uncommon things to do with a good friend, there was something else: they risked their lives for each other. Multiple times.
Yes, the youngest deliberately harassed her. And the Railgun would always mercilessly reject her as a result (although she had toned it down recently), but she knew deep down that it was just their 'dynamic'. Mikoto still hugged her sometimes. Still seemed to care for her a tad more than she should…
But who knows. She was a girl in love after all. As realistic as she tried to be, she couldn't help but hope that the object of her passion would eventually return her feelings.

She closed her eyes.

Kuroko knew without a single doubt that she would die for Mikoto. So, naturally, the idea of marrying her did cross her mind more than a few times.

"What would it be like, to marry Onee-sama..." she mused, pressing the top of her pen against her bottom lip.

What kind of ceremony would they do? A western-style ceremony, like her cousin did, or a traditional japanese one?
The Railgun in a suit sounds like a delicious idea. But it's not like a traditional wedding kimono wouldn't suit her...
And of course after the wedding night (Kuroko drooled a little), comes the honeymoon.
It was a big part of the fun after all.
Would they stay in Japan? Maybe soaking up in a private onsen while watching the stars…
No, wait. That would be missing the point. A honeymoon is a perfect opportunity to travel.
And Shirai Kuroko is a girl who lives in the future! As much as the nostalgic option of something local and traditional sounded nice, she wanted to see the world. So she would!
There were so many possibilities.

They could go to France. To explore the fine dining scene. Maybe they would go to a teahouse and feed each other macarons.
Enjoy some good champagne.
Mikoto would kiss her on top of the Eiffel Tower, professing her love for her in the City of Lights, for all to see..

"Aah" the level 4 sighed dreamily.

They could go to one of these incredible Greek islands that offered luxurious honeymoon suites. She had read about them online. Santorini maybe? So many things they could do there. Go shopping. Explore the historic areas. Chase each other amidst the bright, whitewashed cob buildings. Watch the sun slowly sink into the sea, in the private pool connected to their room.
Mikoto would smile at her and say something sweet.
Maybe they would start making out right there and-

Kuroko bit her pen, trying to stay focused.

One other good destination for honeymooners seemed to be Polynesia. No matter if it was Fiji, Bora Bora, Taha'a; they all seemed absolutely amazing anyway. Staying in an overwater bungalow sounded cozy and refreshing.
What was there not to like? The sun, the turquoise water, the exotic tastes and scents...it would be a heavenly setting.
They could go snorkeling. Or try surfing. Enjoy some good Sex on the Beachーand hopefully not just the cocktailー

"Enough!" She mentally slapped herself. "Kuroko, get a hold of yourself!"

Of course sex was (very much) on her mind. But most importantly, their honeymoon would be hopelessly romantic. It had to be! And even for a good laugh, or a good shock, she would not allow herself to ruin it.
She needed to let her thoughts take her somewhere cold. That was probably the best way to cool down her hormone-crazed mind.

Somewhere cold and beautiful. Like Norway or Iceland. Where they could hike a glacier or take in the magical views that the fjords offer.
However, surely nothing could beat the auroras.
She had never seen one, yet she was so vividly imagining it that she might as well have.
She saw herself, with her love. Spread out on a bed in a warm glass-igloo, looking at the sky.
They would intertwine their fingers and watch the lights dance above them in complete admiration.
Then, Mikoto would turn her gaze to her and gently caress her cheek.
"The sight is so enchanting...but it still won't surpass you." she would whisper with a tender smile.

"I'm so happy to be here."

"Me too, onee-sama..." Kuroko mumbled, completely caught up in her fantasy.

"Yes, Kuroko?"

A voice behind her shook her from her reverie. She turned around to face its owner.
Standing there was the Ace of Tokiwadai, nonchalantly carrying her bag over her shoulder.

"O-Onee-sama! What are you doing here?"

"What do you mean, what am I doing here? Class is over. I wasn't too far away, so I came to get you."

The teleporter opened her mouth. Too lost into her daydreams, she had failed to notice the class had ended, and that most of her classmates had already started leaving.

"What's wrong with you?" Mikoto said while arching a brow.

"Ah, n-nothing! Onee-sama doesn't need to worry about me, I just got distracted, that's all."

"Okay…" the Electromaster did not seem convinced. She started looking at her notebook. "And what is that?"

Kuroko spun back around on her chair and read with horror something she had completely forgotten.

In big beautiful strokes, was written 白井美琴.

Shirai Mikoto.

Before she could even try to hide it, Mikoto reached over her shoulder to slap her hand on the notebook, effectively securing it in place.

"Kuroko." she started in a low voice. "What is the meaning of this?"

The tea haired girl froze, looking straight ahead. She messed up. She messed up big time.
She was not supposed to see this.
She could not see her face, so judging by her tone she could only guess that she was angry as hell.
Alarm bells rang in her head as she felt the older girl lean over her, fearing she was about to receive another of her infamous shocks. However, she just took her pen and started scribbling over her notes. Probably to destroy them.

"Ah, Onee-sama" mentally cried Kuroko. "You are so merciless !"

In the back of her mind, remnants of sunshine, waves and northern lights slowly faded away, leaving only darkness.
She said goodbye to the hopes and dreams Mikoto was crushing with that pen.
Then she heard it hit the table with a soft thud, indicating that she was finished.
She could feel the chestnut haired girl's breath on her shoulder, it made all the hair on her body stand up in anticipation.

"...be careful from now on." she whispers threateningly in her ear, the air around them tense with static.

While Kuroko was still trying to figure out which was it, fear or arousal she felt the most right now, Mikoto started walking towards the door. Only then she allowed herself to look at her.
With her current angle she couldn't see her face, although she could've sworn she saw her blush.

She turned her eyes to her notebook, to assess what damage the innocent victim had sustained.
As expected, yes, what she wrote was scribbled over beyond recognition.
What she did not expect was what was written under it.

Kuroko's face lit up, her chest swelling with a mix of happiness and surprise, and her cheeks reddening.

On her notebook was another name.

御坂黒子

Misaka Kuroko.

Notes:

Possessive Mikoto anyone ?
