CHAPTER 1
OB-GYN lounge
Ik Jun: Chuchu, does Seok Hyung call you today?
Min Ha: Not yet. He did text me earlier, but I guess it’s dawn there now, so he won’t be calling me anytime soon
Gyeo Ul: Isn’t hard? Being in a long-distance relationship?
Ik Jun: Aish, that bear really. I thought he was just kidding but he did really go to America.
Min Ha: It’s okay. I mean it’s hard that we’re not seeing each other just like before and given that we just become a couple for 7 months before he left. But he needed to go away, it’s for his career too.
Gyeo Ul: I don’t think we would survive that kind of relationship.
Min Ha: why? Because you’ll miss Professor Ahn so much?
Ik Jun: Ani, Jeong Won will be the one who will miss her more. He might go back to home again after one day of staying in America
Gyeo Ul: Most likely
Min Ha: I do miss him. But we cannot do anything about it. All I can do is support him with his decision.
After dating for 7 months, Seok Hyung flew to America to study. But when he was still in South Korea, they did make sure that they spent a lot of time with each other. They do meet each other’s family member and sometimes when she misses Seok Hyung, she will call his mom to spent time together which made Seok Hyung’s mom very happy and thankful that his son has a thoughtful girlfriend. The first months of being away, they call and video chat each other as much as they can but because of the time difference, Seok Hyung’s study and Min Ha being busy now for her fellowship, gradually, the time they have to call each other lessen and most of the time they settle on just texting and replying if one is free. Min Ha didn’t mind it at all at first but to be honest, sometimes, she’s even asking herself if they can continue this set-up. Seok Hyung has been in America for 8 months now and given that, they did celebrate their anniversary thru call because Seok Hyung cannot go back to Korea in time that will align with Min Ha’s schedule. Neither of them complained but rather, enjoy the late celebration they have thru phone call.
Min Ha left the resident’s lounge after a long day of shift. Aside for attending the patients, she has to write a paper which doubles her tiredness and makes her want to hit the bed as soon as possible. She waited for a cab in front of the hospital and texted Seok Hyung.
After hitting the send button, the cab stops right in front of her. She hoped on, told the driver her location and put her earphones to listen to some music on her phone. After some minutes on the road, Min Ha can feel tiredness and massage her neck when she felt her phone vibrates.
Min Ha smiled as she reads his texts and decided to reply to him.
Min Ha reached her destination and immediately paid the cab driver the fare. She enters her apartment feeling like dragging her feet to the living room. She slumps down on the sofa and closed her eyes and puts her arms on her forehead. She contemplates to stand up and cook something for herself but she’s too tired now and decided to just close her eyes for a minute.
Min Ha tried not to think so much about their relationship now. It’s true that they do love each other, they do trust each other, they do find comfort with each other but without enough time for each other, will they be able to survive this kind of relationship?
Min Ha shrugs off those lingering thought in her mind and went to the bathroom to give herself a long, warm bath.
