“Your hair is different.”

It was such an odd comment, even a little strained. You finished pouring yourself a glass of water, determined not to turn around.

“Yeah.” You took a sip of your drink and for a few moments, no one said a thing.

It was weird to be talking to him again after not even looking at his face for two years, but you guessed this reunion was meant to happen sometime. You just didn’t expect it to happen at your roommate’s boyfriend's party, you just happened to be friends with Megumi as well.

“I know you wanted to keep your distance from me,” he explained, “I wouldn’t have come here if I knew you were coming as well. I’m sorry if—”

“It’s not like that.”

Finally, you turned around. Your back rested on the sink as you looked at your ex-boyfriend who had his body leaning against the kitchen door frame. The rest of your friends were asleep in the living room and you would have been one of them if your ex hadn’t been there as well. There was no way you could have gotten rest when he was around.

“It’s not that I didn't want you around, I was just…” You paused, avoiding his gaze as you shrugged. “I was a little hurt. So I tried to avoid you for a while.”

“Oh,” Megumi sighed. He put his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t mean to hurt you. Was it something I said or—”

“No, no”, you interrupted him again. “You didn’t do anything, it’s just… I was sad about the breakup and seeing you just reminded me of that. Tried to focus on other things.”

It was true. Even seeing his name as you scrolled down social media sent a pang to your wounded heart. It came to the point where he was tagged during a night out with some of his friends and it was too much for you to bear. Thoughts about the girl with short hair that had her arm around him clouded your judgement, even if you were sure he wouldn’t just jump into another relationship like that.

To stop your mind from creating more and more scenarios that involved your ex boyfriend with his lips on someone else, you blocked him on every social media. Hell, you had even made sure to block his number and erase him, just in case you ever drank a little too much wine you wouldn’t end up calling him.

“You were sad?” Megumi asked, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “You were the one that broke it off.”

You sighed. “Yeah, I just—”

“Why would you be sad if you were the one that dumped me?”

“I wouldn’t say dump , that sounds a bit mean and—”

“Well, you did,” he retorted. “You came into my room out of the blue, told me you wanted to break up and left not even two minutes later.”

Your cheeks burned at the memory.

“Yeah, nos my finest moment,” you whispered.

“So why on Earth would you be sad about the breakup— sad enough that you had to block me on everything?”

“Because I still loved you!”

You squeezed your eyes together, hating yourself for being so loud. You definitely didn’t want your roommate or anyone else to be woken up by your sudden outburst.

“You’re making zero sense now. But, fine, whatever,” Megumi said, rolling his eyes. “Had me thinking I had inadvertently hurt you when you’re the one that’s either lying or incapable of explaining herself.”

He took barely one step out of the kitchen before you spoke again.

“I failed Chem.” Megumi stopped in his tracks yet his back was still facing you. “I failed Chem and my grandma had a stroke. She was taken to the hospital and shit but she lost her ability to produce words. She could understand you, just not talk and— shit,” you felt your throat tightening as your eyes filled with tears. “I was scared and my dad was scared and I was told I had to retake Chem and I didn’t have the money for it. I was going to ask my dad but with my grandma’s medical bills just— I ended up asking for a loan so that’s settled but—”

“Why didn’t you tell me all this?”

Megumi had taken a couple of steps inside the kitchen, and now he was standing in front of you. His facial features were just as you remembered them and his messy hair looked as ever, a part of you wanting to indulge in old habits and thread your fingers on his loose strands.

“I’m so sorry. It was too much. I couldn’t handle so many things at once.”

“So you dropped me.”

You bit your inner cheek as you nodded. An honest chuckle escaped Megumi’s lips and you looked up to his dark eyes, confused.

“You’re so stupid,” he snorted. “I could have helped you with all of that.”

“I didn’t want to bother you—”

“You could never bother me.” His reply came so fast it took you off guard and you felt your heart skipping a bit.

“And you could never say anything hurtful to me. Your heart is too kind to do that.”

Megumi gave you a soft smile and you noticed how close he’s standing to you. It seemed he noticed the closeness as well because his cheeks turned pink and he averted his gaze from you, focusing on the counter right by your side. You tried your best not to laugh at how sweet he could be without meaning to. At this moment, you weren’t sure how you managed to spend so much time away from him because now your whole body was screaming for him to stay just as he was.

“So— uh, how have you been?” he asked, trying his best to sound casual but failing miserably at it. “Are you seeing someone or—”

You laughed. “Megumi, just kiss me.”

Megumi didn’t need to be asked twice to collide his lips against yours. Despite his usual tenderness, the kiss was desperate. His hands immediately found your waist and clutched tightly on your clothes, his body pressing against yours as his lips devoured you. You weren’t far, fingers tangled on his black hair and pulling softly as your tongue darted across his bottom lip. Megumi groaned inside your both, hips automatically bucking against you— it made it easy for you to feel how hard he was, which only prompted you to bring him even closer.

As your nails dragged down his spine, Megumi lowered his mouth to your neck, leaving open-mouthed kisses on your skin as his hands roamed around your body. His thigh between your legs was creating much-desired friction, making you move your own hips to get even more of it.

“I missed you,” you sighed, trying to keep your voice low, knowing there were people in the other room. “Every day, I missed you so much. I’m so sorry— I just—”

Megumi’s response was to crash his lips against yours again. Knowing he usually had a hard time with words, his actions were more than enough to let you know you weren’t only forgiven, but he had missed you as well. His hands clutched your waist tightly and before you knew it, you were parting your legs even more, his crotch rubbing on yours making both of you sigh. Only Megumi could make you this riled up just by kissing and groping, his body molding perfectly over yours, solidifying the idea you were truly meant for each other.

You felt one of Megumi’s hands sliding down your side until it reached your hip and, in a swift motion, he made one of your legs wrap around his waist. The friction between your crotches was even more intense, the position making you remember all the times he had held you like that on his dorm bed.

“Shit, I’m close,” you whispered against his lips, hands sliding down his chest until you could feel his abs over his shirt. Megumi opened his eyes, eyebrows raised in surprise as he looked at you.

“Just by this?”

You nodded. Experimentally, he thrusted his hips a little harder, making you moan against his mouth. Megumi cursed under his breath, a bit marvelled at your reaction.

“Forgot you were this sensitive,” he commented and you playfully shoved his shoulder. He chuckled and kissed you again, his hips never stopping. “Never said it was a bad thing.”

Tightening his grip on your thigh, he quickened his pace. He moved his lips to your neck again, biting the flesh softly. You put a hand over your mouth, trying to muffle your sounds as you got closer and closer to your edge. Resting your forehead on his shoulder, you held onto him tightly as you tried to meet his thrusts, desperately trying to come.

It took him licking the spot right between your jaw and your ear for you to fall over the edge, arms clutching around him, holding on for dear life. You chanted his name in muffled whimpers as you came, feeling your panties soaked as he rutted against yours. Megumi started slowing down as you rode out your orgasm, his touches becoming reassuring rather than needy.

After a couple of moments, he pulled away, blown-out pupils and messy hair looking back at you. He put your leg down and settled his hands on your hip, thumb stroking you over your clothes.

Megumi cleared his throat. “So, uh… does this mean— does this even mean —?”

“Yeah, it means I want to take you on a date,” you beamed, loving the small smile that appeared on Megumi’s face. “My treat. Will even drop you home when it’s over.” He rolled his eyes playfully. “Or ask if I can come in. Depending on how good it goes.”

“I missed you,” he admitted, and you feel yourself swooning once more.

“Not as much as I missed you.”
