jungeun has no idea where she's being taken. 'cause it's eight in the morning and she's being dragged into the car by her ever so sweet of a girlfriend.
"it's so early. can't we do this another time?"
"you promised me today dr. kim and i know you don't like bad reviews on your doctor's appointments."
before she even starts to release a groan of disapproval, a piece of pastry is shoved into her mouth preventing her from doing so.
"eat up doc. for a doctor, there should be more healthy food in your pantry, you know?"
she grumpily chewed and ate the piece of bread as the other woman was starting up the car.
"would you look at that… a grumpy jungie in the morning stuffing her face with a blueberry bagel."
if the words didn't irritate her enough, the clicking sound of a camera took her to her limit.
"ha sooyoung delete that now!"
"can't delete babe. it's a film camera."
oh jungeun wanted to wipe that smug smile off of her face so bad.
but before she could, sooyoung starts being… well sooyoung.
how can jungeun stay mad at her when she takes a neck pillow from the backseat and assists her head into it?
when she pulls out the fur blanket jungeun said she liked from her living room couch and drapes it all over her lap.
when she gives jungeun a sleep mask and puts her seatbelt on for her.
how can she stay mad at this annoyingly sweet woman she gets to call hers?
she can't when sooyoung gives her the loveliest smile just like when she first met her.
"get some rest dr. kim. i'm sorry for waking you up so early."
just before sooyoung gets to kick-start the engine, jungeun reaches out for one of her hands. the warmth providing her the comfort similar to the feeling of being home.
jungeun just knows, sooyoung can be her home.
"i hate you ha sooyoung, you know that right?"
sooyoung releases a hearty laugh. the doctor knows that it's not possible for a heart to beat so fast yet that's what hers is doing right at this moment.
"i love you too kim jungeun."

she wakes up to an empty driver's seat. panic starts to take over her when she didn't have any sight of sooyoung. all the nervousness flushes away when she sees her through the window in front of a flower stall.
where were they even?
as if sooyoung could sense her awakening, she turns around and waves at her. sooyoung gestures for her to wait a little and she returns this with a nod.
jungeun starts to notice that she's now in a position further from the windows and windshield. sooyoung must've moved the seat for her when it got hot knowing how she wasn't too fond of sunlight interrupting her slumber.
it brings a smile to her face.
sooyoung makes her go crazy.
the good kind of crazy.
the backseat doors suddenly open showing sooyoung placing three different flower arrangements. she carefully puts them in the back making sure they're distanced from each other. the door closes and jungeun sees her jog to the driver's side.
"sorry love. had to stop for some stuff along the way."
before she gets to tell her that it's fine, a bag is tossed on her lap. she opens it to see a bunch of snacks which brands sooyoung probably has memorized like the back of her hand.
"we're still a bit far. you can munch on those while you watch a movie. my phone's just charging over there inside the glove compartment. watch whatever you like, is that alright?"
it's foolish how such actions make jungeun feel so much care. sooyoung knows her without even asking and it drives her insane. it only has been eight months but jungeun wouldn't hesitate if the woman asked her to run away with her.
she'd say yes in a heartbeat.
"i hate you so much ha sooyoung."
and there it is.
that damned smile.
"maybe not as much as i love you kim jungeun."

when the car comes to a halt, jungeun is greeted by a large field of yellow and white daffodils.
she's too engrossed at the beauty of it all to notice the passenger door opening for her.
"we're here now doc."
"where are we exactly?“
"you'll know later. let's get you out of the car yeah?"
a hand reaches out for her to take. jungeun takes it and stands up. she doesn't forget to shove a small shrimp chip in sooyoung's mouth.
albeit surprised, sooyoung happily chews on the snack offered by her girlfriend.
"now what was that for?“
"you haven't eaten anything since earlier dummy. you can't do that to yourself."
"lucky i have a doctor looking at for me then."
jungeun lightly slaps her shoulder as they both giggle like middle schoolers.
"do you mind carrying one of the flowers jungie?"
"not at all."
they walk while holding hands. jungeun insisted that they didn't need to but sooyoung being herself couldn't allow it. she jokingly flexed her biceps to show her that she can carry the other flowers with just one arm.
it's silly but it makes jungeun laugh.
sooyoung always makes her laugh.
she's busy taking in the scenery and almost stumbles when sooyoung suddenly stops.
"we're here."
jungeun has no idea what she means by that. all she sees is that reached some sort of cliff overlooking a beautiful river down below.
sooyoung starts to place down the flower arrangements just right in front of them and bows.
"hi everybody."
jungeun then looks at her like she's crazy. she couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.
"say hi dr. kim."
"hi?"
what was she supposed to even be greeting?
sooyoung then takes a small blanket from her bag and lays it down on the ground. she takes a seat and pats her side as a sign for jungeun to follow.
"jungeun, my halmonis are here."
jungeun whips her head around the field. there wasn't any sight of anyone but them. she hears sooyoung laughing at her again.
"that's not what i meant jungie."
"what did you mean then?"
sooyoung then gazes straight ahead of them. looking at the different flower arrangements.
"remember when i told you i was raised by three different women?"
jungeun hums as a response while recallling the memory.
"well, the three of them loved flowers. they used to come here every single day just to look at each daffodil. they'd wash their clothes down by the river over there and i'd tag along everywhere they went."
she sees sooyoung smiling as she spoke.
"and all of them had the same request. it's that when they pass, they'd like their ashes to be released right here."
it starts to sink into jungeun, sooyoung brought her to meet the ones who cared for her all her life. she scrambles to stand up and bow.
"hello halmonis."
sooyoung laughs at her again and jungeun tries to fan her red cheeks.
"i wanted them to meet you. well, i've always told them i'd bring someone home for them to meet. i just want to fulfill that promise."
it melts jungeun's heart that sooyoung wamted her to meet her family. she went all this way to fulfill her promise of bringing someone home. sooyoung brought her with her.
sooyoung gets up and pats some dirt off her pants before standing by jungeun. she intertwines their hands as she shows her a big smile.
"this is my girlfriend. kim jungeun. she's a doctor everyone. i snagged myself a good one, can you even believe it?"
and the both of them share laughter that fades into the wind.
"i wish you could see her. she's the most beautiful woman i know. i bet you guys would think the same too."
sooyoung averts her gaze to the flowers. she displays a fond grin as she thinks about her family and past.
"you guys told me to bring someone home but i have something even better."
jungeun doesn't take her eyes off of the woman in front of her. this was her first time seeing sooyoung at this state. it was her most vulnerable yet in jungeun's eyes.
"i'm introducing my home to you."
it surprises her, the words that came out of sooyoung's mouth. she called her home. she's sooyoung's home.
sooyoung is already looking at her when as she continues to talk.
"and i hope you guys know how much i miss you. you don't have to worry about me anymore. i assure you, i'm in good hands."
and jungeun squeezes her girlfriend's hand. she averts her gaze to the flowers as the feeling of safety and warmth envelopes her all at once. she promises.
"i promise you, i'll take care of her. now and always."
sooyoung takes her their joint hands close to her lips and kisses the back of her palm. glossy eyes stare into jungeun's own.
"i love you kim jungeun. so much."
"i love you ha sooyoung. just as much but a little but more.
