“Your eyes are the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Bugs had entered Daffy’s room to give him his mail when he heard the duck utter that sentence. He was looking in the mirror, clearly talking to himself.
“Are you...Y’know what, never mind.”
“Self esteem is important, Bugs, but I wouldn’t expect you to know that.”
“I dunno, I’m pretty satisfied with-”
“Besides!” Daffy snapped, “If no one else is gonna compliment me around here, I’ll do it.”
“Well, y’know what they say, if you want something done right you oughta do it yourself.” He handed Daffy a stack of letters. “I think you’re being sued.”
Daffy tore his gaze away from the mirror.
“You’re so ungrateful for what you have here. Someday someone’s gonna come along who treats me right.”
“So besides feeding you, housing you, cleaning up after you, and buying you all your needs and innumerable wants, I have to tell you how gorgeous you are every thirty seconds to keep you around?”
Daffy shifted. Bugs kissed the tip of his bill.
“Then I’ll set a timer for every thirty seconds.”
Daffy’s annoying nature was worth putting up with for moments like this, where he blushed nervously, and was for once rendered demure by Bugs’s praise.
“Yeah, you better.”
“Please call this lawyer back.”
