Work Text:
So,
ya know how the show is being kinda weird about Chloe this season?
She's stated to be irredeemable, yet no one treats her like she is. Her roles have been taken over to the point like it almost feels like she's been removed from the show, and yet she's still around. Her betrayal in Miracle Queen should have been this massive paradigm shifting thing, and yet, it doesn't really seem to have affected anything at all. Like, no one, not even Marinette, seems to remember that it happened 90% of the time. Even Chloe seems to have forgotten how important being Queen Bee was to her. And her entire personality has been reset to the point of being a parody of herself?
What if there was a reason for that?
What if something happened between Miracle Queen and the start of s4? Maybe...Chloe isn't Chloe at all. Maybe she...no, it is trying to make them all forget what happened.
Now, the who's, how's, and whys are all up to you dear author friends (you could even change it to Zoe if you want) but bonus points for:
"Chloe" not being a sentimonster, or if "she" is, not one sent by Hawkmoth
It being difficult for the characters to see "Chloe" for what "she" actually is
The more the characters see not Chloe for what it is, the harder it tries to play up the act and deter them.
Some psychological horror or Lovecraft-ian elements
Use it for a multichapter, drabble, one-shot, whatever.
(Why yes, I am salty about how Chloe's being handled in s4. However did you guess?)
