Malak stepped out into the Central Chamber. Revan waited for him there, her back turned to him. “Congratulations Malak. I was sure the defenses of the Star Forge would deal with you. But I see you’re stronger than I thought. Stronger than you ever were as my apprentice.”
“Enough, Revan. It is time we end this!” Malak shouted.
Revan laughed. “Ha, you’re more eager for blood than I expected, Malak… But, then again, so am I. Very well then.” In a swift action, Revan lunged at him. Malak blocked her swipe just in time.
“If you hadn’t tried to betray me, I’d be tempted to capture you alive, Malak.” She admitted as Malak pushed her back. “Then I could bind you back to me as my apprentice. As I did with Bastila. If I could control you, you’d be a far greater asset to me than even Bastila.” She let out a dramatic sigh. “However, the truth is you’d likely betray me again.”
“I would never serve you again, Revan. Finally, after all those years, I’m free of your control.”
“That’s what you think, Malak, but my influence will forever impact you. The way you think, the way you feel. The darkness and light will wage constant war within you. Conqueror, Hero, Villain. You are all these things, Malak. Yet you are still nothing compared to me. In the end, you are only a shadow of your former self.” The two engaged again. Malak matched Revan’s speed and ability. “I can’t deny your drive. Yet, even though I survived your betrayal, you still attempt to destroy me. Seems like our fates are intertwined.” Revan regained her footing. “Everything has led to this moment. We can only settle this when one destroys the other.”
“Agreed.”
“Then we shall face each other in combat one last time. The Victor will decide the fate of the galaxy!”
The two kept fighting, neither of them caving in.
“You impress me, Malak. If only you had been the one to uncover the true power of the Star Forge. Then maybe your betrayal would have succeeded. But you were a fool!”
“What do you mean, Revan?” Malak stepped back, unnerved by Revan.
Revan grinned. “The Star Forge is more than just a space station Malak. It’s much like a living creature. It hungers and feeds on the dark side that is within all things!” She gestured to the chambers of bodies around them. “Look around you, Malak. These bodies are fuel. These Jedi fell when I attacked Dantooine. For all intents and purposes, they are dead. Except for one difference: I have not let them become one with the Force. The remnants of their power become corrupted by the Star Forge and transfers it to me!”
Malak’s stomach turned with the realization that any sane part of Revan was gone, and only a monster remained. “Try to beat me, Malak. Your fate will end the same way as these Jedis. Your power will feed me as I conquer the rest of the galaxy!”
“Not while I still stand Revan!” Malak charged forward. Revan held her ground. But as they collided, Revan was nearly knocked back. She hadn’t expected his strength, and he would use that to his advantage. Revan would fall, and the Light side would win like it always had.
As they fought, Revan’s grip on her power was slipping. After destroying the battery chambers, Malak finally force pushed her back.
Revan collapsed to her knees, too weak to stand. “Im… Impossible.” Malak quietly made his way over to her to finish what she had started. “I… I can’t be beaten like this! I am the Dark Lord of the Sith.” Revan attempted to stand but only collapsed again. The two locked stares, and Revan glanced over to Malak’s blade as it raised above her. Her expression softened as she realized her fate. She glanced down. “I can’t help but wonder, Malak. What would have happened had our positions been reversed? What if I had been captured by the Jedi? Could I have returned to the light as you did?”
It seemed like forever Malak stood there. Watching as his once friend quietly mourning herself. Yes, they were friends once, but that was long ago. There was no changing the past, and Revan was too far gone. They both knew that now. “Goodbye, Revan.” And without waiting for a reply, Malak brought his sword down.
Revan’s reign was finally over.
