Lucius malfoy panted heavily as he walked up the big stairs to the Granger's castle.
Jean Granger, being hugo Granger's wife had informed narcissa, her best friend and his wife, it is going to happen.
But he isn't going to allow it, not from the moment draco was born.
The Granger's like any other pure blood family, was rich but had a tough time recently.
So when hugo came to him the second richest wizard, he loaned a great sum of amount as a loan.
Surprisingly hugo knows where to invest, as a result his wealth grown tremendously, to keeping several accounts in the gringotts.
Since lord voldemorts death, many pureblood families started to engage their children, who was mostly one or two years with another as a way to increase their wealth and name expensed in the war.
And when jean informed that hugo is going to engage his one year old daughter hermione Granger to arthur weasleys just born youngest son, lucius become furious.
All that money, all that wealth to a weasley... never. He'll make draco the owner of it. The one to save their family's fortune with the Granger's wealth.
It's an self destruction method too, considering how Hugo's father came from a muggle side to study in hogwarts, but the weasleys and greengrass supported him forming a thick friendship.
But it's his time, he'll break that friendship with just his brain and... it will be now.
He barged into the front door of the palace like manor, startling the three young men sitting in the middle of the room in various couches.
"Hello, lucius. May I know why you are here for" hugo asked standing up, sizing him up and down curiously.
Beside him arthur weasley and vincent greengrass each arched an eyebrow, the latter getting his wand ready.
"Is that what's supposed to be a decency hugo? Aren't you going to tell me to atleast have a seat first" Lucius asked with a smug smirk.
Hugo rolled his eyes "Of course lucius. Here, have a seat"
Lucius quickly walked over to the couch, purposefully sitting on a different one rather than sitting on one where hugo gestured.
"I'm here for my money hugo"
Hugo Granger's eyes went wide "Wha.... but Lucius, isn't it too soon"
"It is. Isn't it necessary to atleast give a warning before a month to get back the loan money" arthur said suggestively standing up too.
"No one asked your opinion... You bloody blood traitor" lucius sneered.
"Don't you dare talk about my friend like that" vincent gritted his teeth, his wand pointing at Lucius, who pointed his own back.
"Okay. Okay... Please, that's enough" hugo said standing in between the two of them "Lucius. What is it you really want?"
"Smart hugo" lucius said smiling, flashing his pearl white teeth "You know as well as I do, that you can't give my money back, not yet atleast. It's a huge amount.... but I have a offer for you, if you'll make a small sacrifice" he said looking at Arthur.
"Sacrifice!..... What sacrifice?" Arthur asked doubtful.
"I have two conditions, according to the wizards old rule, one I want you to engage your daughter to my son draco malfoy.... and number two i want you to cut all your relations with arthur weasley and his families" he said and the three looked angry, sad and distraught.
It was an old wizarding world rule, that have not yet placed back yet, according to the sentence, that if a wizard didn't get the money which he gave as a loan, then he is allowed to make demands that should be done by the debtor or get arrested and lose all his wealth to the ministry.
"Lu... lucius, please... Dont do this. You know, i cant maje make a choice here. If you please, just give me some more days" hugo started to beg.
"I already said it hugo. I want my money now or be ready to...."
"Dont need to beg him hugo" arthur said stepping up "we will do as you said" he said glaring at lucius.
"But arthur..." Hugo started and arthur interrupted again.
"Its alright hugo, i hadn't been friend with you all this years, expecting anything from you and i will always remember it.... our days together" arthur said coming closer to hugo and hugging him "And.... if me being friend with you, will put you in tough situation, then its better if we make the sacrifice".
"It's alright hugo, Arthur is right" vincent said coming closer to his friends "If him being friends with you, is a problem in any way then we will never fear to make a sacrifice for you" vincent then turned to straight to arthur.
"Arthur, if you don't mind. I like to value our friendship by engaging my daughter daphne to ron" he said and arthur smiled.
"Sure thing mate"
Suddenly they heard someone letting out a loud yawn "It's all great and all, but if you three don't mind. I like to do the oath now before I see arthur out myself" he leered at the three.
Hugo gritted his teeth "Fine".
And just like that, the oath of engagement between hermione Granger and Draco malfoy was done followed nu ron weasley and Daphne greengrass.
