Work Text:
"He's late."
George concludes after 10 minutes of going live for his stream, grabbing the attention of Bad and Sapnap. "He's never late."
"Have you tried calling him, at least?" Bad's voice chirps in his headphone.
"I only texted him and I was left with only one tick. I don't think he's woken up yet." It's a bit unusual for them to stream this early in the morning, well, in Florida, it's about 9. So, it's understandable if Dream is still sleeping. But Dream is never late for a stream nor forgets one.
"You should call him. Maybe he slept in." Sapnap suggests this time.
George sighs and picks up his phone and searches for Dream's number in his contact. "Alright, I'm calling him." His phone starts ringing. While he waits, he read some of the comments in the chatbox, most of them are wondering where Dream is like him.
However, his phone continues ringing until he is sent to voice mail. Dream doesn't pick up. George frowns, "Wait, lemme call again." He says after Bad and Sapnap give a questioning hum.
Again, after numerous rings, the Floridian doesn't pick up his call. George is starting to get annoyed and a little worried, so he groans. "Where the hell is he?? We can't start without him."
"Language, George." Bad murmurs.
Sapnap lays back on his chair while mirroring George's frown. "When's the last time he texted you guys?" He asks after a bit of thinking, trying to draw a conclusion, if possible. "Mine's three days ago."
"Me too. He's hardly online then." Bad tells and Sapnap nods, widening his eyes when he remembers it. "Right! I thought I was the only one."
George shakes his head, though. "Yesterday, he replied to my text that I sent two days ago."
Silence falls on them before George adds again, "I'm going to call him again. If he still doesn't pick up, we're playing without him." The third time's a charm, anyway.
He listens to the ring sound from his iPhone. Fortunately, after four rings, it stops, causing Bad and Sapnap to lean closer to hear the phone call. George lights up when his call is finally picked up.
"Dream! Did y–"
"Stop calling... It's fucking Saturday in the morning."
He closes his mouth before continuing to yell. That doesn't sound like Dream. And he recognizes that deep voice and accent anywhere...
There's a noise in the background, like something is shuffling, and George's phone is very close to his mic, so anyone in the stream can hear very clearly what is being said from the call, which he puts on speaker earlier.
"Hello–? I'm just gonna end it."
George widens his eyes now. Sapnap and Bad also have the same reaction. The call is never ended, though. A mistake. Then, a low whine is heard. The other three focus on the next words that come out of the speaker.
"Wil?"
That's Dream's voice, George knows already because he's best friend with him, of course, he recognizes Dream's morning voice.
"Shh, go back to sleep, baby."
That's Wilbur. Again, George knows, and he furrows his brows deeper. What is going on here? And... baby? What???
"Want cuddles..."
"I'm here, baby. I'm here."
A contented hum is heard, then a pause. "Who called?"
"I don't know, they went quiet after I picked up."
"Hmm, forget it. Go back to sleep now."
Wilbur's chuckle is heard. "You're one to talk. I'm not the one who flew here in the middle of the night without sleep."
"Shut up."
And then it's silence.
George stares at his phone in disbelief and then looks at his computer. The viewers are spamming a lot of messages in the chatbox in shock and curiosity. "That's Wilbur, right?" Bad breaks the silence, sounding as surprised as them all. George just nods because the call is still ongoing.
Sapnap is holding in his laughter at this unexpected situation they all are witnessing. "Oh my fucking God, Dream flew to the UK–"
"Language."
"–They are together! And we just interrupted their sweet cuddling moment! Whattttt???" Sapnap is grinning wickedly then. "George, say something to them!!"
"Are you sure that's a good idea? Just end the call, George." Bad sounds hesitant at the idea.
"Don't end it! Think of this as revenge for Dream. Come on, George! Let's do it!"
George sighs but is smiling. The viewers are chanting in the comments alongside Sapnap while Bad just laughs. Well, Dream deserves it, anyway. George clears his throat and says to his phone, "It's already afternoon but, good morning, you two."
At first, he receives no response.
Then suddenly, there's shuffling once, then twice, then one louder and abrupt movement of sheets.
"Huh? I didn't end the call earlier..."
"You're so careless. Who is it?"
"Uh... 'Color-blinded dumbass'?"
"...That's George."
"Yeah, I realize. But that's not what I saved in my... Oh."
Another pause. "This is your phone. I think he's supposed to be calling you."
"What?"
Dream's voice is a bit louder now and he sounds more awake. "Oh, shit."
George holds his laughter behind his hand and greets again, "Hello, Dream. And Wilbur."
"Hello, Geo–"
"George! Oh my god. Shit, I'm sorry, um- Sorry– the stream, yes. Our stream. Um. When?"
Sapnap and Bad laugh in the background, but Sapnap's laughter is louder. The Texan nearly falls off his chair for hollering out loud. "We were supposed to start 30 minutes ago but it looks like you're occupied with... someone else."
"No, I can make it! I do– Just, give me a second."
George waits for the other and keeps on listening in amusement.
"Wilbur, I have to go. What do you mean I can't? I've had enough rest already. They're waiting for me. Hey–"
He listens to Dream's grunts and yelps. He guesses the 'couple' is probably wrestling on the bed. "Is everything alright there?" He asks. Dream's back, thankfully.
"Sorry about that– Yeah, fine. Wilbur won't let me go, though. That asshole."
"Your asshole, baby," Wilbur's voice is louder and clearer this time, and suddenly he lets out an 'Ow'.
"Go away!" Dream hisses, then getting back on George, "Forget you heard any of that, please. I'll explain later, I promise. Now, about that stream."
"Oh, yeah. We're already live." George tells and hears a confused noise.
"Really? Does that mean..– Wait... Am I on speaker? George, did you fucking put me on speaker??"
George starts to laugh after saying, "Yup. Say hi to everyone." He can hear the blond groaning away from the phone through his laughs. Then, a few thudding noises silence him, and another voice begins saying,
"Hello. My boyfriend said he hates you guys. And please call back tomorrow because we'll be busy today. Thank you, have a good day."
The call ends with a beep and the rest of them burst out laughing again.
