Work Text:
The last thing anyone wants is for you to be in the kitchen and somehow Frankie has convinced you to bake with him. Baking is math and you detest math but who were you to deny those puppy dog eyes when he asked if you could help him bake a pie for Benny’s housewarming.
Frankie set you up at the counter with some dough and a rolling pin. Easy enough.
Wrong.
Rolling dough is only easy for people who bake all the time! You stomp your foot like a child when Frankie comes around to correct you again and it makes him laugh.
“It’s okay babe, that’s what I’m here for.”
You roll your eyes. “Frankie why can’t I just watch like I normally do, why do you want my help? I’m slowing you down.” you say frowning.
He looks at you lovingly and sets down the rolling pin to bring you into his arms. “I want you in here with me.” He brushes some flour off your face causing you to scrunch your nose. “You aren’t in my way or slowing me down. You’re trying.”
“But it’s hard.” You whine.
“Then say so and I’ll be there to help you. Come on” He moves you back into your place at the counter and he settles behind you until he’s completely trapped you in place with the rolling pin in position.
“Now,” he starts, “it’s easier if you start in the center of the dough and slowly work your way out.”
Time moves slowly as Frankie guides your hands on the pin and through the dough. He’s patient and his warmth eventually pulls you into him while he helps you.
Maybe being in the kitchen and baking with Frankie isn’t so scary after all.
