Chapter Text
"Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!"
"WHAT is a man? A miserable- Benny! Don't skip it!!"
"I've already heard this man. It's my second try, I let you have your line." Ben began the boss fight much to Spencer's despair.
"But I like iiit," Spencer leaned up against the smaller inkling. "it's my favorite part."
"We would be hearing it a million times! Besides, it was nearly the whole dialog. Ah, shit." The distraction leaning up against him was definitely doing his job, causing Ben to take damage on the first part of the fight. "Cut it out man! I'm outta practice!"
"Sorry," Spencer fell backwards onto his bed, stretching his arms above him. He glanced at his alarm clock, noting that it was a quarter past seven. "Shit, do you wanna order pizza? I didn't realize it's gettin' late."
The reply was a grumbled out "sure". Spencer got back up and grabbed his phone. "You want 'roni?"
"Mm...yeah, that's fine." Ben glanced at him for a split second before refocusing on the TV. Spencer smiled at him and left the room to make the call, that way he wouldn't be blamed if Ben lost again.
~
"Thank you!" Spencer closed the door with one hand, bringing the box into his bedroom. "It has arrived, you wanna drink? I got iced tea, little bit of orange soda left too."
"Soda, thanks man." Ben took the box out of Spencer's hands, placing it in the middle of the bed. While Spencer left the room to go grab their drinks, Ben peeked inside the box. It was split down the middle, it all had pepperoni but one half had chunks of pineapple. "Ugh dude, you eat this shit?"
"Here you go, promise I didn't shake it." Spencer stuck his tongue out as he re-entered the room. He had a couple paper plates in hand as well as their drinks.
"Thanks- it is nearly eight PM, why are you drinking that." Ben looked appalled as he took the soda and plate out of his hands.
Spencer simply cracked the energy drink open. "Drinking what?"
"You're fault if you don't sleep tonight,"
"I will be fine. I didn't have one today, I bought this specifically to drink today, 'n I forgot to drink it! Not the first time I've done this."
Ben just sighed and shook his head. He opened his own drink (Spencer didn't lie, it was not shaken), and took a sip. It was a little flat, Spencer had this bad habit of not taking the last thing from packages, but it tasted fine.
"Whatcha wanna do now, I got Mario Kart?"
"Sure, I'll whoop your ass though."
~
About fifteen minutes into playing, Spencer's spirit was crushed.
"You are so mean to meee, would you stop targeting me!"
"No." Ben smirked at the taller inkling before the latter moved the box between them off the bed. The controller was removed from his hands and before he could protest, Ben was wrestled onto his back. "Dude what the hell, what are you doing!"
"Payback!" The pair laughed as they both struggled to gain authority over the other, but if he was being honest, Ben wasn't putting up much of a fight. Light kicks to Spencer's torso and relaxed hands, the small smile on his face that crinkled his eyes. It took Spencer a minute to realize he was staring at Ben.
And before he could think, he was leaning down to kiss him.
It was much softer than they usually did, he'd probably get called a fag later for it, but it was worth it. Ben wriggled under him after a little while, seeming uncomfortable with the amount of time Spencer was taking on the opening. Reluctantly, he ran his tongue on Ben's lips, which was much more quickly reciprocated. As soon as he felt the other's tongue against his own, all thoughts seemed to leave his mind.
It felt like hours before they separated. Spencer didn't feel like getting chewed out by the short inkling, and moved to mouth at his neck before a word could be said.
"Hey- careful. Don't leave nothin'." His voice cracked when he spoke, wrists flexing under Spencer's grip.
Spencer lifted his head for a moment to affirm he wouldn't, that he "just wanted a taste". He licked upwards under his jawline and nipped the skin there. The noise it elicited was like music to his ears, a high pitched whine that quickly got shut down, but Spencer would solidify the noise in his mind.
Not long after, Ben started to wriggle away from him, so he let him. Sitting up and breathing a little harder than he probably needed to, Spencer muttered out a quick "sorry, dude".
"Christ man... What uh, what time is it?" Ben tried to play it off like nothing happened.
"Uhh, 8:48?" Spencer tried not to meet his eyes so as to not embarrass him any more. Ben didn't like getting too flustered.
"Ah, shit. I have work in the morning. Shit shit shit-" Ben started clamoring to collect his things. "I'd stay if I had my uniform but-"
"No! No, you're good, you're good... Um, lemme help!" Spencer jumped up and went to leave his room, intending to grab Ben's board for him. When his sleeve got grabbed, he turned around to face his friend. A second hand was snaked behind Spencer's neck, fingers lightly cooling the skin there. The pressure placed on his neck guided him to lean down, eyes wide and face warm, he breathed out harshly when their noses brushed together. Spencer squeezed his eyes shut when their lips connected once again, feeling Ben exhale against his face. It was extremely short lived, but it felt like forever to them both.
"...I'll see you tomorrow, Spence." And without another word he slipped out of the young man's bedroom. Left paralyzed, he leaned up against the now closed door behind him.
"Yeah, peace..."
