"Is this a bad idea?" Quinn asked as she placed more craft supplies into the cart, her voice more than telling just how unsure she was, "no I mean like seriously Santana, is this the worst idea you've ever heard?" She stopped to look at her friend who seemed to not at all be listening.
Santana was few steps away looking at the glitter, eyebrows pulling together as if that was the most fascinating thing she'd ever seen. "More glitter," Santana smiled, all but ignoring her friend's current conundrum.
"Santana!" Quinn whined, though she would of course one-hundred percent deny it if anyone asked.
"Wow Quinn, I've never seen you like this. You're actually full, balls to the walls nervous," Santana chuckled.
Santana couldn't help but find humor in this moment. Quinn Fabray in a child like, nervy panic over a girl? Over anyone for that matter. That was unheard of. Santana was used to being the one who got teased about having gay panic, she definitely wasn't about to let this opportunity pass her by.
"I really like her..." Quinn said softly.
It was true, Quinn had never truly found herself second guessing her decision, or feeling truly anxious when it came to someone she liked. But Tina was different.
Tina was special.
"She's a design major you know," Quinn added, "she wants to go into fashion, her friend...Kurt's his name, they've been dreaming of being big fashion designers for as long as they can remember. They've always had this grand New York adventure formed in their heads-"
"There you go again. " Santana laughed kind heartedly. As much as she found small pleasure in teasing Quinn she couldn't deny that she was happy to see her like this; cheeks flushed red and eyes beaming as she spoke about this girl. As she spoke about Tina.
"Oh, right...sorry," Quinn gave Santana a crooked smile.
"Don't apologize, it's cute on you." Santana smirked, gesturing her hand towards Quinn's face, "the whole lovesick thing".
"But seriously Santana is it stupid?"
Santana sighed, turning to look at the arrangement in the cart, "I mean Quinn if a girl asked me to go on a date to make ornaments and drink hot chocolate I'd probably barf".
Quinn punched Santana in the shoulder, "Yea right, if Brittany asked you to do anything you wouldn't hesitate."
Santana scoffed, "shut the hell up Fabray," that was all she could say, because it wasn't not true.
Santana went back over to the glitter, "you can never have enough." She said gently. And that's all Quinn needed to know, because Santana wasn't about to admit how sweet or romantic the idea actually was.
"Sorry" Tina said shyly as her hand brushed against Quinn's.
Apparently all the glitter in the world wouldn't keep their hands from touching. There were four bottles set on the table and they'd managed to reach for the same one twice.
"Don't apologize " Quinn smiled, because there really wasn't a need. She loved feeling Tina's skin against hers, warm and gentle on everything she did. "You're dorm is really cool." Quinn glanced around at the mannequins and partially finished pieces. Fabric pinned together, sketch pads littering one desk with messy first draft drawings.
"Yea, it's kind of a mess in here. " Tina laughed softly, following Quinn's eyes, "I was going to tidy up but I couldn't decide what to wear and I guess this is kind of you getting a glimpse into the real me...kind of messy?" Tina mumbled the last bit, feeling a bit shy, maybe she should have taken ten minutes to tidy up the place, for Quinn.
Quinn Giggled, moving to gently bump Tina's shoulder with her own.
"Fuck! I'm so sorry," Quinn stammered as she watched the glitter splutter out of the canister, clearly going in with more force than she had anticipated.
"It's okay, really. " Tina looked at the sparkly mess that partially covered her hands. "Glitter can be a nightmare though." Tina smiled, shaking her hand free of the sparkly decorative item, watching the green and red sparkles fall into a messy pile on the table.
Quinn hummed, because that's all she could do. Her cheeks were burning and she couldn't help looking down at her lap.
"Hey," Tina cooed. "We're all a little messy," She half shrugged.
Quinn looked up, finding Tina's eyes on her, genuine and full. Full of admiration and honesty.
"I really like you..." Quinn whispered, the thumping of her heart, racing in her hears.
"I like you too," Tina leaned in and placed a kiss on the edge of Quinn's lips. "I like you a lot." Tina smiled against Quinn's skin before moving to properly lock their lips together, her hand moving from the table to the soft skin of Quinn's cheek, the glitter long forgotten in exchange for the warmth and comfort of a tender kiss.
