Chapter 1: Christmas Sweaters

Chapter Text

It started out as a typical shopping trip for Ben and his daughter. They were walking around the store and then his daughter, Arya, reminded him about spirit week at her school for Christmas.

"There's red and green day, Christmas socks and hat day, flannel day, ugly sweater day, and then my favorite day, pajama day."

"Does this mean I have to buy stuff for you for the week?"

"Well of course dad. I want to show the most spirit."

Ben let out a chuckle as she talked about having school spirit. He knows his daughter is very passionate about a lot of things and that she loves school very much so he should have expected her to be excited for spirit week. He also knows that she is a big deal now as she is in 5th grade and in the oldest grade at her elementary school.

They went around the store for about an hour, getting the things they came to the store for in the first place, and then getting Arya all of the things she wanted for spirit week because Ben wasn't able to say no. Arya then went over to the sweater section of the store and found her "perfect" ugly sweater. Not too far down from where she found her sweater, she found one that was exactly the same style and print that looked like it could fit Ben.

"Dad, look at this."

Ben then turned towards Arya who was holding up ugly sweaters for both of them. He then let out a sigh knowing that she would be very upset if he said no to her about getting him a sweater too.

"I guess you can get it."

Arya then let out a little squeal and thanked him before placing the sweaters in the cart. Then they headed to the checkout and the older woman at the register noticed the sweaters and made a comment on them.

"Nice choice on them. Are they for a Christmas party or family photo?"

"No no. My daughter needs one for school and she wanted me to get one too."

"Oh cool. I remember when my kids would wear ugly Christmas sweaters to school and they would complain about it all day."

"Yeah, usually she doesn't care for them but she wants to participate in spirit week so here we are."

Ben then put the bags into the cart and paid before gently grabbing onto Arya's hand and said goodbye to the woman at the register and Arya gave her a little wave before walking back to his car. They then loaded all of the groceries, clothes and accessories into the car before Arya hopped into the backseat on the passenger side and Ben hopped into the driver seat.

When they got home, Arya immediately started grabbing the bags that had her stuff, leaving Ben to handle all of the groceries. Ben grabbed the leftover bags and locked the car before catching up to Arya, who was already waiting at the door. Ben then set the bags down on the steps to find his hose key and unlock the door.

As soon as the door was open, Arya ran straight to her room to look at all of her stuff closely now that it was officially hers. Ben then picked up the bags and closed the door behind him with his foot so their dog, Chewie, couldn't get out. He then set the bags on the table and looked around for Arya.

"Arya Rose, come out here please."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes, now come out here and bring the stuff that we bought with you too."

Ben heard Arya's huff as she started putting the clothes back into the bags and bringing them out to the dining room where he was. She then set the bags down on the table and looked up to her dad, who bent down to her height.

"I know you are excited, but can you wait a little bit longer so I can get the clothes washed first."

"I guess Dad."

"Ok."

Ben then gave her a kiss on the forehead and he handed her a bag with just the accessories and she went back into her room while Ben finished putting the food away and started the laundry for all of the new clothes.

The first three days of spirit week went fine. Ben thought Arya's outfit for red and green day was adorable, even though she said it was a little itchy and not very fun to wear in gym class. She has very long and festive socks and reindeer antlers for Christmas hats and socks day. Then she had a blue flannel for flannel day which Ben had said it wasn't very festive.

That Thursday, Ben had forgotten to set his alarm the previous night and he didn't end up waking up until 8:05 when Arya's school started at 8. He then rushed out of bed and woke Arya up and got her ready for school, not realizing he threw on his ugly sweater.

They ended up making it to school by 8:45. Ben quickly parked the car and got Arya out before running into school with her. The doors were locked so he had to use the buzzer and it had taken a minute for the office to let him in.

"Sorry we're late, we overslept this morning."

Ben had said not realizing who was in the room except for the woman at the front desk who was right in front of him. He then signed her in and went to say goodbye when he saw she wasn't right next to him, but she was hugging a tall brunette with a pink and white sweater on.

He then walked up to the two of them and Arya turned to see her father and smiled. The woman was a little confused until Arya stood next to him.

"Ms. Niima, this is my dad who I was talking about."

Ben gave her a little wave and she looked at him with her brown eyes. She was a little confused by the sweater with cargo shorts and combat boots but then remembered that they were arriving late and he probably just threw on whatever was at hand. She then extended her hand to Ben.

"Hi, I am Ms. Niima, Arya's teacher. It's really nice to meet you Mr. Solo."

Ben then took her hand and shook it. He was a little surprised by Ms. Niima's accent as no one from around the area had a similar accent.

"It's nice to meet you too. Please, call me Ben."

"Well, Ben. I guess you can call me Rey then."

Ben smiled as he thought about her name. He would agree that Rey is a great name but thought it was a little cheesy to say it out loud. He then realized what he was wearing and quickly felt embarrassed.

"I am sorry about this. We had a late start."

"No no no. You're fine, plus I see you have matching sweaters."

Rey then points to both Ben and Arya and smiles when she actually looks at the sweaters, she notices that the sweaters have dinosaurs wearing Santa hats and Christmas lights. She thinks it's adorable that they have matching sweaters. Arya then pipes up.

"I chose them."

"You did? Well you did a fantastic job." Rey then gave Arya another hug.

"I think your classmates are just starting art class right now. You should be able to start with them if you hurry."

Arya then follows the woman who was at the front desk to her art class and Ben is about to leave when Rey gently grabs onto his arm and Ben turns to face her

"Wait. Can we talk for a minute?"

Ben thinks about it for a minute. He really needs to go home, but he figures a few minutes won't hurt. Plus Rey is his daughter's teacher and he finds her really attractive. Of course he wouldn't say it to her out loud, but it is still a clear thought in his mind.

Ben had to sign in since he would be in the school and going past the office. Then Rey and him walked towards her classroom, talking the whole way there, mostly about Arya and how she is doing in class but also something a little more personal.

"Is her mom in the picture? I just haven't seen her so I figured she doesn't have time for drop off or pickup."

Ben then lets out a sigh. "When Arya was 2, she and her mother got into a car accident and her mother died from the crash. It was expected that Arya would have died too but they said that she's a fighter."

"Oh, I am so sorry. I didn't mean anything by what I said. I am sorry if I offended you by that."

"It's fine. You didn't know. Plus I think you were trying to think about Arya and her well being."

"Yeah, but I still shouldn't have assumed anything."

"It's ok. I don't mind. I'll say we are even if you say something personal about yourself. You don't have to if you don't want to though."

Rey took a deep breath. "When I was 4, my mum and dad found out that my biological grandfather was trying to look for me. He wanted me so that I could take over his spot once he was too old and fragile to handle it himself. So they just sold me to the first person they found. I kind of wish they were able to at least get some options but they didn't and I was stuck with the same foster parent until I was 18. I hated him. I did the housework, had to keep good grades and I had to do whatever he said, even when his best friend assaulted me sexually when I was 15."

"Oh my god. Rey I am so sorry. What you went through, even though I don't know the whole story, what I have heard was unacceptable. No one should have to go through something like that.”

“It’s ok Ben, I have come to terms with it. I am doing better now and to me that is all that matters.”

The two of them made it to Rey’s classroom and stood outside the door. The door had wrapping paper on it and little laminated presenters with each of the children’s names on it. He quickly spotted Arya towards the top of the door.

“I like the door. It’s very festive.”

“Oh, thank you. It was silver with pencils at the beginning of the year but I decided to change it for the holidays.”

Ben and Rey then stood outside the door for a minute in silence. There were a few teachers and other staff members who passed by them but tried to pay no attention to them.

“Well I need to do some work before the class comes back from art.”

“Oh yeah, I need to do some work before I pick Arya up.”

Ben and Rey gave each other a little wave before she closed the door to her classroom and Ben walked back down the hallway to the office to sign back out. He then walked into his car and took off the visitor sticker from his sweater and drove back home.

He then came back at 3pm to pick Arya up from school. When he has picked her up before, he has noticed someone who looked very similar to Rey. He has also had email conversations with her, as she is Arya’s teacher, but nothing face to face. So he had a little moment of realization when she was helping get kids out to the bus and to their cars. He doesn’t realize he was staring at Rey until one of the cars behind him honked and he put his car in drive before pulling out of the pickup line.

“Did you have a good day at school?”

“Yeah, we’re finishing up painting family Christmas photos in art and we’re watching Santa Claus and the polar express in all my other classes.”

“That sounds fun. What are you doing for the Christmas painting?”

“I am doing the photo of me in your lap at Grandma and Grandpa’s house when I was 2.”

Ben was grateful they were at a red light because he ended up freezing up when she talked about Christmas from when she was 2. That was her mother’s last christmas and one of the last few days before she died. He also knew what picture she was talking about. Her mother was the one who took the photo of the two of them. He remembers his mother was across from them, playing peekaboo with Arya and his father was in the kitchen making breakfast.

He then didn’t realize the light had changed until cars were passing him and Arya told him it was green. He then quickly started moving to get back home. When he pulled into the driveway and parked the car, Arya immediately started questioning Ben.

“Why did you freeze up earlier on the way home at the light?”

Ben then let out a sigh and got both of them out of the car and into the house.

“When you were talking about the painting you are doing in your art class, I froze because of what picture you are doing and what was going on and who was there during the time of the picture.”

When Arya was looking at him in a confused manner, he continued on with his story. He then felt tears slowly roll down his cheeks as he had to tell her the full story and more details about her mother’s death.

“The person who took that photo of the two of us was your mother. She died a few days later in the car accident I told you about, the one you were also in.”

“Oh, well if she died, Why didn’t I die as well?”

“I don’t know. The doctors just told me that you magically survived and that you were a fighter.”

Ben was full n crying at this point and wrapped his arms around himself until Arya wrapped her arms around him as best as she could and that caused Ben to wrap his arms around her as he continued to cry. Eventually he was able to stop and he made her a snack that she could eat while doing her homework. Then while she was working, he went into his bathroom and ran the cold water and splashed it onto his face and cleaned his face up a little bit before heading back out into the dining room to help her with english.

After dinner, Arya took a shower and put on the pajamas she planned on wearing to school the next day. Then she put everything in her book bag that she would need for school the next day. Once it was already she had another snack and then started getting ready for bed. Once she was about to be in bed, Ben came into her room to tuck her in. He didn’t do it all of the time, but did it when he felt that she needed it. Before he tucked her in she went in for another hug and didn’t say why when Ben asked.

“Come on. You need to get to bed.” Ben then tucked her in and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “Goodnight Princess.”

“Good night Daddy. I love you.”

“I love you too. Now go to bed.”

Ben then shut the light off in her room and closed the door. Once he was in his own bedroom and the door was shut, he let out a sigh and got ready for bed himself. Then when he was in bed, he thought about when he was at her school earlier and when he was with Rey. He again thought about how pretty she is and how he probably wouldn’t be able to say it to her, at least for a couple months while she is his daughter’s teacher. By that time she could be in a committed relationship, maybe she’s even in one now, he thought. Maybe she doesn’t see him in that way and he will just embarrass himself if he asks her out which could embarrass Arya.

Ben decides to not think about it any longer and tries to go to sleep, in which he fails because he has a nightmare about Arya’s mother dying in the crash and him being there as well and how he can’t save her. Eventually it hits 3 am and he needs sleep but he goes on his phone and tries to watch something until his eyes get too heavy and he eventually falls asleep.

Ben ends up waking up early the next morning, not wanting to have a repeat of the day before. With having a bunch of extra time, he decides to make Arya homemade pancakes instead of having her eat the ones from the box in the freezer. Arya makes it into the kitchen as Ben is plating her pancakes and is about to set it on the table to wake her up.

“Morning sunshine.”

“Morning dad.”

She sits down in the chair as Ben places the pancakes and syrup in front of her. She looks happy to see that the pancakes are homemade. While she does enjoy the pre-packaged pancakes from the box, she prefers her dad’s homemade pancakes, especially since he likes to add fruit into his and they don’t see many pancakes with fruit in them at the store.

Once the two of them were done eating breakfast. Arya went into her room to brush her hair and get her shoes on before she went back into the kitchen to fill up her water bottle and brush her teeth. Ben also felt like wearing his pajamas since he was only going to be dropping Arya off and then picking her back up, since he was able to work from home. Once they arrived at school, Arya took her seatbelt off and gave Ben a kiss on the cheek before saying goodbye and grabbing her water bottle and bag and closing the door.

While Ben was at home, his day was uneventful as he mostly just answered emails all day long. It was about lunch time when his mother called him. He was kind of dreading the call, as Leia got older, the longer she wanted to talk and Ben had work that he needed to do.

“Hi mom.”

“Hi Sweetie, how are you?”

“I’m good mom. How are you and dad?”

“Oh, we're fine. I mean we’re getting older and we just want to see our son and our granddaughter more but other than that we’re the best we can possibly be.”

“Yeah, you will see us soon for Christmas right?”

“We’ll be there, but you dad wants to come over to see if we can come over so you can help him see what is wrong with his car.”

"I can't today. I have to pick Arya up from school soon."

"Well, I could pick her up. I know she would like the surprise and that way you can help your father out as well."

Ben let out a sigh. "Fine. You'll be able to pick her up at 3 right?"

"Of course. I wouldn't be late to pick up my only grandchild."

"Ok. I'll see you and dad soon."

"Alright. Goodbye Benji."

"Bye mother."

He then hung up the phone and got back to work. Han and Leia arrived at his house at 2. They knocked on the door and when Ben opened the door, Leia bombarded him with a hug. Eventually when Han and Leia were through the doorway, Ben was able to close the door.

Ben got dressed into some warmer clothes before heading outside to help Han with his car. Leia then took Ben's car to Arya's school as Ben had recommended so Arya wouldn't get as confused and would hopefully be more surprised.

At about 3:30 Leia pulled up into the driveway as Han and Ben finished up the car. Arya and Leia got out of the car with drinks and snacks from the local coffee shop in hand. The four of them all walked inside to eat and chat. When they were in the middle of eating, Leia said something to Ben

"There was some woman at the school saying they were Arya's teacher. She thought that you were going to be there instead of me."

"Oh. It's probably her teacher Ms. Niima. I told her about Arya's mother so she probably thought that I was the only one who would be picking her up."

"Yeah. She seems very sweet. Her accent is also something."

"Yeah, she's pretty too."

Han and Leia look at each other for a second before going back to eating their muffins and drinking their coffee. Afterwards, Leia and Arya went to her room to play while Han was planning on talking to Ben. Han then sat down on the couch as Ben finished cleaning up the table

"Hey kid, sit down with me for a minute."

Ben put the dish rag that he used to clean up the table over by the sink. He then sat on the couch next to Han and he looked a little worried as he thought something was wrong. Especially after Han let out a sigh.

"You know I don't like to get involved in your personal business, but don't you think that things could get messy if you started dating your daughter's teacher."

"Dad. We're not in a relationship. I like her but we can't. I know we can't."

"Yeah, you say that now. Eventually you'll both be running to each other."

"Ok, just because that is what happened with you and Mom, doesn't mean that it will happen to me and Rey."

"Now you're addressing her by her first name. Sure you won't. Trust me, I know you both will."

"She doesn't seem like that kind of person. She's been through the system and her 'parent' was the type that's only in it for the money and didn't care about her well being."

"So. Just because she has been through a lot of shit doesn't mean that she won't show her feelings for you."

Ben then sat there in silence as he thought about what Han had said. He remembered about yesterday when he went to go drop off Arya at school and she asked him to stay. He then remembered about how they were silent once they arrived to her classroom.

Han then patted Ben's back and got up to go play with Leia and Arya, leaving Ben to be able to think alone. He wasn't able to for very long as there was a knock at the door about a minute or two after Han left.

When Ben opened the door, outside was Rey in a light jacket. She looked like she was freezing so Ben quickly stepped aside and let her in. He then took her coat and set it on the coat rack by the door. Rey then followed him into the dining room.

"Drink?"

"Just water please."

Ben grabbed a glass out from the cupboard and turned on the faucet. He then filled the glass with water and gave it to Rey when he walked over to the table he had her sit at. Rey was watching him the whole time. Rey then spoke first again.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"I know I shouldn't be asking something like this to you but, willyouwanttogoonadatewithme?"

"What?"

"Do you want to go on a date with me?"

Ben was a little shocked that she was asking him. His dad would say that 'traditionally the girl would wait for the guy to ask them out' but he wasn't focused on that. He was shocked because she knew that he was one of her students dad's and that it may become a problem in the future.

"I..I mean I would love to but wouldn't it be a problem. Since you're my daughter's teacher."

"I know but honestly I don't care. You're nice and good looking and you seem wonderful and I am rambling but I like you. I've only known you for a day but I really like you."

Ben knew that it was wrong but he didn't care at this point. She likes him and he likes her. He remembered what his dad said and he knows he is basically doing what his dad said that he would do but he doesn't care.

"Y..Yeah."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Rey then got up and hugged him. He let out a huff but then hugged her back. Ben stood up and walked Rey over to the door. He then grabbed her coat and helped her put it on.

"Can I get your number? Mostly so we can plan the date."

"Oh yeah of course."

Rey then hands him her phone and he puts in his number. She then realizes that it is hard for him to type it in as her phone is small and he has particularly large hands. He eventually types it in correctly and hands her phone back. He then gives her his phone and she types it in. She was barely able to type on his phone as she held it the same way she holds her phone. She then gave it back to him and he slid it in his pocket. He speaks first this time.

"I'll talk to you soon?"

"Yeah."

Rey opened the door and Ben closed it behind her l. He then let out a sigh and turned around to see Han in the living room with his arms crossed and smiling. Ben then rolled his eyes.

"Don't you say it."

"I told you so."

"Yeah yeah."

Han then laughed and patted Ben on the back. Then the two of them went upstairs to play with Leia and Arya.

Han and Leia ended up leaving his house after dinner. Once they left Arya and Ben decided to watch "How the Grinch stole Christmas". Once the movie was over, Arya was sound asleep on Ben's chest. It was later than Arya's usual bedtime and Ben allowed her to start up longer as she was officially on Christmas break.

Ben turned the TV off and picked Arya up and carried her into her room. Once she was in Bed and her door was closed, Ben went into his room to get ready for bed. Once he was in bed, he got a text from Rey.

Rey: Hi Ben.

Ben: Hi Rey.

Rey: How are you?

Ben: I am good. How are you?

Rey: I'm good. It feels awkward.

Ben: It does.

Rey: So what do you want to do for our date?

Ben: I was thinking of having dinner. I can pick a place for us

Rey: That sounds nice. When should we have our date? Sorry if it sounds awkward. I haven't ever been on a date before.

Ben: It's ok. I haven't been on a date in a long while so I am trying to get used to it. But to answer your question, Can we do it next Wednesday?

Rey: That sounds great. I would love that.

Ben: Ok good. Can we talk about it tomorrow? I am kind of tired.

Rey: Oh yeah. I am sorry to keep you up. Have a good night Ben.

Ben: You don't have to apologize. I like talking to you. Have a good night Rey.

Ben then set his phone down and got comfy in bed before falling asleep. They continued to talk about the date up until the day of, just to make sure everything was correct.

Rey was so nervous to go on the date. She felt a lot of pressure. She felt that if the date didn't go well, Ben would tell her boss and she would get fired. She ended up having to get Rose over to her house to calm her down before she actually started getting ready. She ended up wearing a deep green sweater dress with black tights and black high heeled boots.

Ben was just as nervous as Rey, if not even more. This was his first date since Arya's mother had died. Her mother was the only person Ben had ever dated. So he was still kind of new to the whole thing. He decided to go with a black sweater and black jeans with black boots.

Han and Leia arrived at Ben's house a little bit before 6pm. Leia hugged Ben and then smoothed out his sweater before going to hug Arya. Once they were settled, Ben waved goodbye and went to the store to pick up some flowers before heading over to Rey’s house using the directions he sent her the day before. He knocked on the door and patiently waited out in the cold. He was a little surprised when she wasn’t the one to open the door, but a short black hair woman did instead.

“Hi.”

“Hi. I am supposed to pick Rey up for our date.”

“Oh your the hot date Rey was talking about?”

“ROSE!”

Rey yelled a little loud from the hallway that was facing the door of her apartment. Ben was very much able to see over the top of Rose’s head and see Rey walking towards the two of them. Rey glared at Rose for the comment and then turned to Ben and smiled.

“Hi.”

“Hey, I didn’t know what type of flowers you liked so I just got you these.”

“Oh thank you so much.”

Rey smelled the flowers and then actually looked at them. She saw a bunch of little white flowers. She then handed them off to Rose, who gave her a hug and told her to be safe. Then, Ben and Rey left her apartment and headed to his car.

He opened the car door for Rey and she smiled at him as she got in. He then closed her door before running over to his side and getting in. Once they were buckled up, Ben pulled out of her apartment complex's parking lot.

The two of them were silent on the way to dinner. They were very nervous and felt that the silence was better. Once they pulled up to the restaurant and got out of the car, Ben instinctively went to grab Rey's hand but then moved away a little bit as his hand brushed hers.

The hostess asked Ben what reservation he had set and then grabbed two menus and led them towards the back of the restaurant where there weren't as many people. Once they had their menus and sat down the hostess left to get them a waiter.

"This place looks nice. I like it better back here where there are less people."

"I know. I do too. That's a part of why I picked this place. The other reason was because I know the owner and I like to come here often."

Rey nodded. Then she saw a shorter woman walking towards the two of them.

"Benjamin. How long has it been since you were last here?"

"It's been a while."

"Well, are you going to introduce me to this young lady?"

“Yes Maz. This is Rey, she’s my date and Arya’s teacher this year.”

Maz then held out her hand to Rey and they shook them. Maz then pulled Rey up from her seat and engulfed her in a hug. They were there like that for at least a good minute or so before Maz let her go. Ben kept laughing through the whole thing and then stopped once Rey had sat back down in her seat.

“It is lovely to meet you, Rey.’

‘It’s nice to meet you too.”

“Well, What do you kids want to eat?”

The two of them ordered their food and Ben saw Rey hesitate on what to order so he offered to pay for her meal and get as much food as she wanted. She asked if he was sure after refusing a bunch of times, Once their orders were taken and Maz had left, Rey and Ben looked at eachother.

“You know you didn’t have to do that right?”

“I know, but I wanted you to get whatever sounded good. Plus I don’t mind paying for you.”

“But I was the one who asked you out so I should be paying for the both of us.”

“First of all, I wasn’t going to let you do that anyways. Plus I want to be nice and pay for your meal since you asked me out.”

Their conversation ended there as Rey didn’t have anything to say after that. Maz thn bright them their food and quickly left the table but Ben knew that she was just far enough out of sight, but close enough to get to hear their conversation. Maz is like a second mom to him and he knows that both Maz and Leia are going to try and pry information from him later when the date is over.

The two of them continued to chat over dinner. They both gave each other interesting stories like how Arya got her finger slammed into a door when she was little or how Rey’s best friend, Finn, had thought it was a good idea to make cookies while the two of them were drunk and all of their other friends were out partying. Eventually when all of their food was done, Maz quickly came over, which indicated that Ben was correct about Maz eavesdropping on them.

“Do you two plan on getting dessert?”

Ben looked at Rey as she shook her head no. “We’re good Maz. We are definitely full.”

“Ok then, well you are all set to go.” Maz was walking away as Ben called out for her.

“Where’s our bill?”

“Paid for. I tell you every time you come in here that whatever you get, I am paying for. Not you Solo.”

SHe then continued to walk away without another word. Ben let out a small huff and then pulled out his wallet to grab out $30 and placed it under his cup. He then stood up and held his hand out for Rey and grabbed both of their coats. They walked to the front and put on their coats before waving goodbye to Maz.

After dinner, the two of them chatted the whole car ride to Rey’s place. They were smiling and laughing to the stories the other person was telling them, they were nodding their heads to other facts that were being told, and they were singing to the songs that were currently on the random radio station that Rey had chosen.

Once Ben’s car was parked in the parking lot. Ben and Rey got out and walked inside the complex and upstairs to her apartment. The two of them then stood outside her door, similar to how they were standing outside her classroom door not even a week ago. This time they were smiling and staring into each other's eyes. Ben spoke first again.

“I enjoyed our date, it was fun.”

“It was. Maybe we could do it again soon?”

“I would like that a lot.”

Usually Rey wasn’t the type of person to make a bold first move, but after the way she looked at Ben during dinner and how he went to hold her hand on the way into the restaurant, she didn’t care that she was being bold.Rey walked closer to Ben and smiled at him before pulling him in for a kiss. He tensed up for a moment but then relaxed and kissed her back.

Once they had stopped kissing and pulled away, they looked at each other to make sure that the other one was okay with what happened. When they couldn’t find anything they just smiled and said goodnight to each other before Rey went into her apartment and Ben went home.

Once both of them were inside their living spaces, they were immediately interrogated. Rey was asked a million questions by Rose and Finn and Ben was giving short but good responses to Han, Leia, and Arya. Everyone agreed that the date seemed to go over well and that they would be a good couple.

Two years later.

Rey and Ben were going shopping for Christmas decorations. They had just bought their first house as a married couple and wanted to go all out. Arya was not a part of this as she was becoming a teenager and wanted to hang out with her friends instead.

As they continued to walk through the store, Rey noticed a bunch of blue and white ugly Christmas sweaters with mini lights in them. She then nudged Ben in the arm and he turned to see her holding up one of the sweaters and smiling towards him. He then lightly rolled his eyes and grabbed a sweater in his size. He then also grabbed one for Arya as well.
