An Elves' Story

Summary:

Once upon a time there were seven elves who helped save Christm-ehm no... this is actually the story of how seven elves, aided by a pet and a pinch of magic, managed not to ruin Christmas and become friends - all seasoned with a series of unfortunate events.

Notes:

Hi everyone and happy Christmas Eve 🎄

For those who already know me, welcome back, for those who arrive here for the first time: my pleasure, this is losermind_x.

This story starts from an initial idea of one of my closest friends, who also turns out to be an exceptional artist, and who gave life to some fantastic drawings from which this story takes inspiration.

Everything starts from an elf-shaped plush called GianBiscotto, and from a first drawing that was meant to be just a way to have fun. Eventually, everything has grown and grown enough to become a small world of elves, magic, confusion and friendship.

So while ✨ sharrills_art ✨ (follow her on instagram) imagined all these little elves, and their characters and ways of being, I transformed them into writing, giving life, I hope to the best of my ability, to its characters and a story that I hope will keep you company during this #ChristmasWeek.
Each chapter will obviously be accompanied by an elven design, so stay tuned.

I recommend following ✨ sharrills_art ✨ on instagram and twitter to see the drawings from which the story is drawn, without which you will not be able to fully enjoy its beauty.

p.s. if you follow the link it will take you to a wonderful elven drawing 🎸 Jeon JeonCookie 🎄

Chapter 1: Jeon JeonCookie - or the story of a rebellious elf

Chapter Text

October was approaching, one of the busiest months of the year for the elves who worked for Santa Claus. It was the period in which more gifts were produced than the whole year, this is because the lists of good and bad were checked every week, making the production of presents almost delusional.

The Korean delegation wasn’t very different from other delegations around the world. They received their lists directly from the elves of the North Pole, who collected the letters sent to them by the children for Christmas, and who from that moment on periodically checked the progress of their behavior to know whether or not they deserved to end up on the good list, or if rather they deserved a good dose of coal to remember to be good all year round, and not just as Christmas approaches.
Once the names of the good guys and the bad guys were collected, they divided the lists according to the origin of the letters, and sent each respective delegation their own list with the order of the gifts to be produced.

And the gifts to produce were many, almost too many according to JeonCookie, who for the umpteenth morning was scrambling down the stairs to get to work on time. He should have stopped listening to human music until late at night, risking not to hear the alarm clock the next morning, and ending up like that morning, running around the kitchen hopping on one foot only to put on his boots, chewing a chocolate biscuit at the same time to remedy the breakfast problem.

It was the third morning in a row that that scene had been repeated, from the last time he had gone into the world of humans, and had entered a music store full of round objects that the human who ran it had said to be called CDs, and he had played one of music he called rock. JeonCookie hadn't had time to be explained the meaning of that word, nor what difference it was with other types of music, he had only asked for one of those objects and the gadget that was needed to make it work, and from that moment he had listened to it at repetition for hours, losing track of time and falling asleep at inconvenient times, struggling to get up the next morning.

That day, however, couldn’tt be late, he would have to finish assembling a part of the gifts and deliver them to the packaging department, otherwise production would have been delayed, and less than two months before Christmas night it wasn’t something that the delegation could afford.

He had finished dressing in a hurry before leaving the house, grabbing his hat from above the arm of the chair and slipping it into his pocket - he would not have put it on until he was in the station, where it was mandatory by regulation to wear it.

The village was in turmoil for the arrival of Christmas, which is why in addition to the decorations that already adorned the entire town throughout the year, there were elves in charge of decorating the streets with fully adorned trees and immense lights.
Ms. Yi, the owner of the oven under JeonCookie's apartment, was decorating the window with a huge garland full of pine cones and lights, struggling to hang the other end of the decoration due to her height. "Don't worry, I'll help you" said the boy, taking the garland in his hand and securing it to the hook with extreme ease.
"You're a sweetheart Cookie, you deserve a reward" the woman thanked him. She was walking into the shop to get him a bag of cookies, as she did whenever the young elf helped her with something, but the boy shook her head.
"I'm in a hurry Ms. Yi, maybe tonight" he apologized by making a small bow with his head.
His ears were red at the tip from the cold, and Ms. Yi retorted as always. "Put your hat on, boy, otherwise you'll get cold."
"I will," he said with a cheeky smile, running back to work.
