Work Text:
Charlotte and Mii met during their first year of university in a lovely town in France. They met in an amphitheater thanks to Mii’s lock-screen on their laptop. It was a cute picture of Felix from the band Stray Kids. Since Charlotte was a stay as well, her other friend Emma gestured to her to look at it, as she looked at the picture it suddenly felt natural for her to talk to the non binary person in front of her. Ever since then, Mii and Charlotte became great friends and found that, oddly enough, they had a lot in common, maybe a little too much to appear normal. They both disliked meat, had the same love for art, had a dad who was a teacher, did a lot of activities in their childhood, had the same love for kpop etc…
It definitely felt weird for them when they started to get to know each other but it only made them grow closer.
In their friend group there were two types of people, they were only five but still, the ones who liked kpop, and the ones who had to bear the others. All of the friend group did the same studies, art history and archaeology, which help them create a feeling of solidarity and understanding concerning each other’s struggles.
It was now a Monday morning, Charlotte and Mii were in second year, and they were going to their modern art history class. They were talking about stray kids’ next world tour and how much they wanted to go to the concert in Paris, the tickets were about to become available to purchase and so they were planning on their way of getting them.
“-I think it’s better if I buy the tickets first on the website and then you repay me yours when it’s done, cause I’d love to give it to you as a gift but we both know that being a college student is hard financially, Mii said.
-I think it’s the best idea we’ve come up with for the moment, I never know how and when to find tickets, so I completely trust you, I’ll find us a place to stay in Paris though cause you can’t organize everything by yourself, said Charlotte.”
The two students weren’t always the best at making plans but they knew that the ones they were making right now had to be perfectly organized. The both of them had been dreaming of seeing the group in concert for years and now that they were financially independent enough they had absolutely no excuse for not going.
That day, it felt like time was frozen. Classes seemed to last for days instead of the regular two hours. The weather was grey and cold and the friend group couldn’t wait for the day to end so that they could go home and rest under a warm blanket. The enby one seemed to be the most exhausted out of the group. They were barely able to stand up in the hallways and knew that if they wanted to drink a cup of coffee it would be over for them and all the efforts they were making for not falling asleep. Of course it was something that their friends couldn’t help but notice, they knew it would still be fine if the gremlin decided to take a nap but they also knew that it would be impossible for them to fall asleep. Knowing this, Emma, Charlotte and Ana-Liva just continued staring at Mii.
When the day came to an end, the relief felt by the young adults couldn’t be bigger. Between the fatigue, the pressure from the soon coming midterms, and just the anxiety that so many people have to endure, everyone was just glad to go back home and relax a bit before having to study again. With all of those responsibilities and the amount of content Stray kids was always releasing, it had been tough for our protagonists to keep up with everything, especially with midterms approaching. They did talk about the band everyday, but it would have been nearly impossible for them to know everything that was happening in stayville, so despite their want to stay informed, they desperately had to study. They couldn’t wait for their exams to be over, to take a bit of a break from their monotone university.
It still was a nice college, it was quite big considering the size of the city it was in. The people there were far more similar to our duo then they were thinking, it made them feel safe and understood and they were able to find other kpop stans like them which they thought would have been way more intricate.
A few weeks later, the ticket sale was announced to open in just another week for the concert in Paris and Mii and Charlotte couldn’t have been more exited about the news. They both made enough savings to get VIP ticket to then meet the band, as well as finding a place to stay in Paris. It took them months to do so but it might have been the best decision of their lives. Of course they couldn’t know that but what they knew for sure was that this concert would memorable. They only had to get early enough on the website to be sure to buy the tickets they wanted, and for this, Mii was going to stay the night on it. Since they were the only one in the friend group who was used to pulling all-nighters, usually to finish assignments, staying up all night to buy the tickets quickly became their responsibility.
A week later, it was finally the day, well actually night, that would determine everything. Mii logged on the website at around 7 pm and decided that tonight, they would finish reading that book they hadn’t touched in a couple weeks. They liked that book, the cover was showing different hues of blue with a few hints of green representing fireflies. It was the story of an archaeology student and her grandma and how powerful men could abuse of young women’s naivety and innocence. It was sometimes tough to read because of the topic that was tackled but it was so well written as well as interesting that Mii absolutely loved it when they had the time to read. Now, they only had to check throughout the night their ranking in the waiting list to get the concert tickets. Since them and Charlotte didn’t know which seats they would get yet, she gave her money to her non binary friend so that they could buy all the tickets at the same time.
Time was passing by slowly, and soon, Mii’s book was already finished, the good part was that they still had a couple more that hadn’t been read yet. The night was definitely going to be long, but in case the small person couldn’t focus on their reading, they could always end up watching a few movies, their netflix list was full of movies and shows that they never took the time to start so they had a lot to choose from. During the same moment, Charlotte was about to head to bed, thinking about her friend who would be waiting all night for them to realize one of their dreams. She was anxious about the situation since she couldn’t be there but she knew that her friend was doing their best.
During their all-nighter, the older friend took some time to learn how to correctly navigate the web-site so that they wouldn’t make any mistakes while buying the tickets and make sure that they would get the best ones they could.
