Chapter Text
Kuroo invites Akaashi to a party.
___________
The halls are silent, except for the occasional shuffling of papers and clickity clack of the keyboard. Akaashi’s weapon of choice is her pen. She scribbles her notes neatly on her notebook, combing through lines and lines of written text.
She feels someone slump their entire body on the chair in front of her. Looking up, she sees the messy one-sided bangs. It’s Kuroo.
“Hey doll, how’s life?”
“Fine. I’m just finishing up some stuff for this lit class then I’m packing up.”
“Great. I’ll wait for you here.”
“If you’re okay with it.” Another hour passes them by. Akaashi completes her assignment and polishes up her things while Kuroo just lazily stares at her. Akaashi feels a looming intent behind Kuroo’s gaze.
She doesn’t hesitate and asks, “What made you drop by here?”
Kuroo just smirked, knowing full well that he couldn’t hide his intention anymore. “Wanna ask you out this weekend. My friends are throwing a party.”
Friends. Akaashi knows full well who Kuroo’s friends are. His friend is not one of the common people after all. His friends are known politicians, lawyers, businessmen and CEOs. People in the upper echelon. Kuroo’s friends essentially run the city they are in.
“Why invite me. Aren’t those exclusive to your group ?” Akaashi replies.
”Yep. Pretty exclusive. Plus they wanna know who’s been keeping me off the bars,” Kuroo says as he slings Akaashi’s bag over his shoulders.
”So you’re saying they wanna know who your new lady friend is?” Akaashi jokingly remarks.
“That’s right. And don’t worry, it’s gonna be a small group, maybe, around 10 people. C’mon what do you say?” Kuroo flashes his most charming grin.
They go silent for quite some time. Kuroo regularly walks Akaashi to the train stop before they part ways. Upon seeing the station entrance at the horizon, Akaashi says, “I’ll think about it. I have a shift at the bookstore on Sunday.”
Kuroo is already pleased. He’s known Akaashi to assume that her thinking about it is the same as a yes. “Party’s on Saturday evening. But best if you switch out scheds in case we drive back late.”
“We’re driving? Where’s this party?”
“Outside of town. Just a small drive away. I’ll fetch you at your place around noon?” Before Akaashi even considers cancelling, Kuroo adds, “I think you’re gonna love the place they rented out. They have an aviary and all the animal stuff you like.”
Akaashi tilts her head in a very peculiar manner Kuroo knows she’s reeled back in completely.
“Okay. What’s the dress code?”
___________
There’s something about driving out of town with the windows open that lulls Akaashi to sleep. Next thing she knows, the sun’s almost down and they’re driving through a winding lane with only the bright headlights ahead of them.
“You said it’s just a small drive out of town, we’re basically up in the mountains.” Akaashi isn’t too pleased about the minor lying.
Kuroo and Akaashi have been friends since they met in her first year in college. Kuroo is a senior student, and the Chancellor in one of the most prestigious university fraternities. Hence, the friends .
They first met when Kuroo’s drunk friends thrashed around the bookstore Akaashi is working at. The second time was at a college party. Under the influence of alcohol and some poppers, they clicked well together. And not long after, they started a friendship under special arrangements.
Basically, Kuroo gets to fuck Akaashi on a regular basis.
Akaashi befriends Kuroo because of his connections. And Kuroo isn’t averse to such a relationship, as long as he gets something in return. Kuroo isn’t a hard man to please. And Akaashi isn’t too conservative to care. Besides, Kuroo is good in bed. Probably the best Akaashi had so far.
“Well, devils in the details. If I told you about how far we’re driving, you might back out.” Kuroo replied as he maneuvered the wheels. He wears a crisp black shirt folded right below the elbows, perfectly exposing his tanned forearms.
Akaashi averts her gaze right after Kuroo notices her.
“You looking at me like that I can stop this car right here and we can fuck in the woods if you like.” Kuroo remarks aside.
“Hmm. We haven’t done it the past few days though. So I might take you up on that offer.”
“I was just kidding. Anyway, we're here.” Kuroo gently swerves the car to a perfect parallel at the designated lane. There are other more expensive cars at the station right beside them. Akaashi isn’t even familiar with the logos so she knows the prices are over the top.
They head inside. Kuroo rests his hand on the small of Akaashi’s back to make sure she gets to meet all of his friends.
There is lulling music inside the hall where everyone is.
A man, robust and middle-aged, hands Akaashi a flute of champagne. She accepts.
Another man, with a square jaw and tanned complexion, offers her the charcuterie. She fishes a parcel of cheese and licks her lips.
A tall lanky man replaces the empty flute with a glass of red wine.
Another offers a platter of food. Some grapes this time.
This offer of drinks and finger food goes on repeatedly, until Akaashi is beyond drunk. She feels unsteady, and the faces who offer her the wine and platter turn blurry.
She feels a need. She seeks Kuroo.
