Chapter Text
It was a normal Saturday night. Or it was supposed to be…
Tommy went out for a walk to feel the fresh night air, it really did just hit different.
Besides, he had to cool down a bit because he got scolded by his mom for yelling too loud when he got too caught up in an online game with his friends.
He sighed as he put his hands in his pockets, it was a bit chilly out but he didn’t mind it.
He felt his phone buzz, when he looked at his phone he saw it was a message from Tubbo.
“Hey, Wilbur said that he has this super cool thing in his garage. Come and see!”
This perked Tommy’s interest.
A super cool thing? Wilbur often found strange and obscure things, it’s like he had a natural talent for finding them. He liked to keep those things in his garage, which was just full of miscellaneous things, ranging from strangely shaped stones and some unknown old devices they had never seen before.
But for Tubbo to mention this late in the evening this had to be extra special.
“On my way bee boi”
He answered as he turned direction and slightly sped up to his destination. This was going to be interesting.
When Tommy got to Wilbur's place there were no lights in the house and the garage door was open by a crack, just enough to squeeze in. As he was squeezing through he could hear an old scratchy vinyl disc playing through a gramophone, Tommy never understood why Wilbur liked that thing it made the music scratchy but the song was alright, for an old one that is.
“Hello! Big man Tommy has come to inspect this thing!” Tommy announced himself before either Wilbur or Tubbo even had the chance to see him.
“Oh hey Tommy!” Wilbur greeted with a big smile.
“Come on come on, See this” He ushered excitedly as he motioned to a spherical shaped cloth on the table in front of him.
As Tommy walked to the table Wilbur pulled the cloth off revealing a metal spherical thingy, it was about the size of a football but had these weird ridges in it like some weird puzzle ball thingy.
“What is it?” Tommy asked bewildered.
“We don’t know yet” Tubbo answered but looked at Tommy excitedly as he picked the thing up and started fiddling it. “Wait, watch this!” He said as he twisted it or something and the thing started glowing.
“What the fuck” Tommy gasped in awe. it had a pretty blue light emanating from what seemed like from inside the sphere, it contrasts nicely with the metal.
“Isn't it cool?!” Wilbur said as he took the thing away from Tubbo to further examine it himself.
“Yeah! But where did you find this?” Tommy asked.
“Oh a few kilometers from here is a field where I got to sometimes, I found this in one of the grass tufts” Wilbur explained.
“Do you think there is more of this there?” Tommy asked with excitement shining from his eyes.
“I didn’t think of that” Wilbur said, pondering
“We should go check it out!” Tommy said excitedly.
“Hmm, I don’t know,” Wilbur said seemingly deep in thought, thinking it over.
“Let’s do it right now!!! let’s see if there are any more of them!” Tubbo chimed in excitedly, nearly vibrating from the amount of energy suddenly in him.
“That could be fun but maybe we should wait until tomorrow” Wilbur suggested.
“Awww come on man, a late night adventure is going to be fun! Besides, if it glows then maybe it will be easier to find in the dark!” Tommy counteracted, he was getting pumped up for this.
“Alright let’s do it” Wilbur said, “Let me just get a backpack and flashlight” He said as he went through the door leading to his house to get the supplies.
“This is going to be awesome!!!” Tubbo cheered.
This was going to be the worst decision they have made in their life.
After Wilbur gave Tommy a backpack and flashlight Tommy decided to take the strange sphere with them, without telling Wilbur of course. he would have said something like “Tommy you’ll lose it” or “We don’t need it with us” but that is where Tommy would disagree! if they found another sphere thingy they would have the original one at hand to compare them. That is very important.
It took them about 20 minutes to walk over there.
When they got to their destination it was around 10 pm, not late enough for Tommy’s parents to worry so they had enough time to explore. Tubbo was staying with a foster family but they didn’t even know he was outside of his room so he didn’t worry about that.
They went straight into searching, at first without the flashlights to see if they saw the glow of any of them by chance but after a while of searching it seemed to be a fruitless effort.
At some point a red light started flashing from Tommy's backpack which alarmed the other two.
“What the fuck is that?!” Wilbur shouted as he and Tubbo rushed over to Tommy.
When they got to him Wilbur reached into Tommy’s backpack to see the orb glowing a bright red, and not just the cracks but the whole thing metal and all, Wilbur quickly dropped it by instinct when the object dropped to the ground it seemed to make a clicking sound as if something opened up.
After a few seconds of the boys staring at the glowing sphere from a distance Tubbo spoke up, "Are we going to check that out or??”
Wilbur scrunched up his face in consideration, on one hand he didn’t know if this thing was dangerous but on the other hand, maybe it wasn’t and there was something really cool inside.
“Wait a few seconds,” Wilbur said finally.
After about 10 seconds Tubbos' curiosity got the better of him and he walked over to the thing with the other two following.
Upon further inspection there seemed to have appeared a button on the thing, Tommy the great man with the greatest impulse control of course immediately pressed it.
“Tommy!!!” Both Wilbur and Tubbo shouted in shock.
Before they could say anything a small opening opened up on the currently top side of the orb and a light shone straight up, seemingly to go into space.
“Wow” Tommy gasped in awe.
He turned the orb around to see if he could direct the light but somehow the light never moved and always pointed upwards.
“That’s fucking mental” Wilbur gasped as he moved closer to inspect the thing.
It was the moment when Wilbur transferred it to his own hands that everything went south.
Suddenly there was a huge gust of wind that nearly knocked down every single one of them and Tommy had to grab Tubbo to keep him from falling.
That was strange, but before they could think anything more of it there was a strange hissing sound and then seemingly out of nowhere there appeared a door right above the ground, not touching it.
“What the fu-” Tommy tried to say before he felt a sharp sting in his arm and immediately fell to the ground.
Panicking He saw that Tubbo had gone limp too and Wilbur was also down for the count, he made eye contact with him for a second and he had never seen so much fear in Wilburs eyes.
Then everything faded to black.
