Work Header

me and my husband

Summary:

This is Sunghoon’s favourite part about everything: the leaving for work and coming home knowing that there’s someone waiting for him, someone who’s always excited for him to come back, someone who cares a lot for him and makes sure that he comes back to a home with something warm and delicious to eat to help ease his exhaustion somehow. And in Sunghoon’s case, that someone is his husband. His lovely Jongseong.

Notes:

this is for that person with "jayhoon forever" as their name that left comments on my jayhoon fics! idk if you'll even see this but your comments made me laugh so here's a happily married jayhoon for you to make up for all the jayhoon breakup fics i've written.

enjoy reading!

Work Text:

“Honey, you forgot your lunch!”

Sunghoon halts, almost on his way to get to his car and leave for work until he hears his husband’s voice calling out to him. “Shit,” he curses, quickly walking back inside the house to grab the bag of lunch that Jongseong has carefully made and packed for him.

“Thanks for reminding me, babe,” he says as he picks the bag from his husband in a rush, but just as he turns around to leave, he suddenly gets pulled back by Jongseong, the male holding on to his wrist.

“Don’t you think there’s something else you’re forgetting?” he asks, raising his eyebrows.

At this, Sunghoon frowns, creases forming on his forehead as he tries to rack his brain. Tries to think of what it is that he might be forgetting. When Jongseong notices that his husband’s taking too long to realise the answer, he sighs, rolling his eyes as he juts his lips out and points at it to drop an obvious hint and it’s at this that Sunghoon finally realises, his face lighting up.

“Ah, so that’s what you were talking about,” he says, laughing in delight.

What the fuck, he thinks. My husband is so fucking adorable.

“So are you going to kiss me or not? You’re almost late, you know.” Jongseong’s words pulls Sunghoon back into reality, making him mutter another curse as he takes a look at his watch and realises that he is indeed running late.

“Fuck, you’re right—” he says, leaving a quick peck on his husband’s lips as he basically sprints outside and onto his car. “—I’ll get going now! See you later, my love!” he doesn’t forget to shout out as he rolls down the window of his car to greet Jongseong goodbye, the other waving at him with a fond look on his face. The sight of it makes Sunghoon’s heart melt, happy to have something like this in his life. He cannot believe he has such an adorable husband who never forgets to make lunch for him every single day, pouring all his love and care into every food he makes for Sunghoon. How he would always happily send off his husband and welcome him home with a smile on his face and something warm that he has prepared for Sunghoon to eat when he arrives.

Even after a year into their marriage, it still feels unreal to Sunghoon just how loved and cared for he is. He still cannot believe he has such a loving husband like Jongseong. He just really cannot believe that Jongseong is actually his husband now.

The silly smile painted on his face never goes away even as he reaches the office already, and if his co-workers notice it, they already know the reason why.

Of course, there's always only one reason behind every smile from Sunghoon.

Sunghoon is excited as he finally reaches home, all the exhaustion from his body fading away as he steps inside their humble abode. He feels happiness humming through his body as his nose gets filled in with the smell of the food that Jongseong has prepared for them.

Slowly, he makes his way into the kitchen, making sure that he’s not making any noise so that Jongseong wouldn’t notice that he’s home already.

It’s the sight of Jongseong’s back that welcomes him as he enters the kitchen, his husband completely focused on cooking that he still hasn’t realised that Sunghoon is home already. At this, Sunghoon smiles, heart feeling all warm as he sees just how much Jongseong cares for him, how hard he works to make sure that Sunghoon is always eating well and taken care of.

It makes Sunghoon want to work harder for Jongseong. He wants to be a better man for his husband. He wants to be able to provide for him not just the things that he needs, but everything that he wants as well.

Sunghoon wants to work harder so that he can spoil Jongseong in the future.

He gently wraps his arms around Jongseong’s waist as he rests his chin on the male’s shoulder, taking in the scent of his husband, and all while he does this, Jongseong doesn’t even flinch, already knowing that it’s him. He slowly leans into the embrace.

“Welcome home,” he says, smiling.

“That looks delicious,” Sunghoon says as he takes a peek at the food, its smell already enough to make him feel full.

Jongseong hums, nodding. “The vegetables in my garden have finally grown so I decided to cook them. It’s so nice, isn’t it?” he asks, turning his head a bit to look at his husband. “It’s amazing how I don’t even have to go to the grocery anymore to buy the ingredients that I need because they’re in my garden already. Thank you for helping me with my garden, Sunghoon.”

It shouldn’t be possible for the smile on Sunghoon’s face to stretch even wider, but at Jongseong’s words, his lips automatically moved on their own, feeling so much love for his husband that it makes his heart ache. He’s so lucky with Jongseong, isn’t he?

“I should be the one thanking you, you know,” he replies.

Jongseong chuckles. “And why’s that?”

It didn’t even take Sunghoon a second to answer, the words naturally spilling out of his mouth as if it had always waited for the right time to say all these.

“Because you’re too good to me. You always take good care of me, always making sure that I have something delicious to fill my stomach and that I’m always eating well.”

Even when he can’t see Jongseong’s face right now, Sunghoon can already feel the smile on his husband’s face.

Jongseong doesn’t say anything about it, though, gently removing Sunghoon’s hold on him as he turns around to look at his husband.

If Sunghoon notices the tears that started welling up in Jongseong’s eyes, he doesn’t say anything, looks away to give the male some privacy.

“The food’s cooked! Let’s eat now, shall we?” Jongseong announces to change the topic, voice a little too high pitched for his liking that it makes him cringe.

At this, Sunghoon nods, giving his husband a gentle smile.

It’s later that night when they’re done eating and Sunghoon’s busy washing the dishes that Jongseong finally gives a reply to what Sunghoon said, the male gently wrapping his arms around his husband and burying his head on Sunghoon’s back.

“You’re my husband, you know. Of course I’ll take good care of you,” he starts, surprising Sunghoon a bit that he almost drops the plate he’s washing. “You always take such good care of me, too. You always make sure that I’m happy and content with our life now, always making sure that my needs are being met. You’re such a good husband, Sunghoon.”

If Sunghoon thought he already had too much love for his husband and there can’t possibly be more space in his heart to store even more love for Jongseong, he only gets proven wrong when he hears what the male had said, feeling his heart get filled with immense love for Jongseong that it’s overflowing. He thinks his heart is about to burst with so much love for his husband. Just how much more can a person love another? Until what extent? Because at this point Sunghoon’s sure he loves Jongseong more than anything else that he’s willing to do anything if only to make sure that his husband is always happy and well taken care of. He loves Jongseong way too much that his heart hurts at the rate of how it keeps on expanding just so he could have more space to store his love for Jongseong.

He turns off the faucet, turning his body around so he could properly look at and hug his husband. Sunghoon feels himself melt into the hug, heart and body feeling all warm. He rests his chin on Jongseong’s shoulder.

“God, you don’t know how much I love you. You’re too fucking adorable, did you know that?” Sunghoon breaks away from the hug and looks Jongseong straight in the eye. He then slowly cups Jongseong’s face with both of his hands and it should annoy the male how Sunghoon’s hand is still wet from washing the dishes, but it didn’t. Or maybe none of it mattered at the moment because Sunghoon and Jongseong are here now inside their kitchen and it’s only the two of them in their own world, in the place they have made for each other. Nothing else matters but them.

“I love you so much—” Sunghoon starts planting kisses on every part of Jongseong’s face, his husband laughing in delight. “—and I love you and I love you and I love you.”

“Stooooop, you’re so cute,” Jongseong says in between laughter.

When Sunghoon’s finally done showering him with kisses, Jongseong takes this as his turn to kiss his husband back, cupping Sunghoon’s face and tip toeing a little bit.

The kiss is slow and tender, Jongseong taking his time to memorise Sunghoon’s lips and how it feels to kiss his husband, as if this is the last time he’ll ever get to kiss Sunghoon.

(He knows it isn’t the last time and they have a lifetime ahead of them, but everytime Jongseong kisses Sunghoon it feels as if it’ll be the last. It feels too good to be true to have Sunghoon for himself like this. To be the only one that knows what Sunghoon’s lips taste like and what it feels to kiss him.)

“I love you, too. More than the word love itself,” Jongseong says as he pulls away, staring straight at Sunghoon’s eyes, his own carrying so much love and tenderness.

At this, Sunghoon doesn’t say anything more, only nodding at Jongseong as he eagerly kisses him again, the dishes on the sink already long forgotten.
