Cuddle Fic

Summary:

Leslie and Ben cuddle on a ferris wheel.

Work Text:

Set During Harvest Festival. What if Leslie and Ben were stuck on the ferris wheel when the power went out?

"I don't like heights."

Leslie looked at Ben as if to say are you kidding me? We're already up here.

"I just I thought that this would be a done deal. You know find the pony and get off this death trap. I never expected the power to go off." Ben said with a hint of fear, knowing they were so high up.

It's not his fault he's scared of heights though. When he was 6, Henry convinced him to go on a drop tower at an amusement park. Little Ben didn't want to be called chicken, so he went on. The ride got stuck at the top and by the time they were able to get it back and running his pants were already ruined. To this day, no one in the Wyatt family can reminisce about the trip without the story being brought up.

Now here he was, 30 years later, sitting next to the girl he liked on a ferris wheel in the almost exact same scenario.

"Why didn't you tell me this before we got on the ferris wheel? You know what nevermind, let me just call Ann and have her see what happened?"

After dialing Ann's number and Ann explaing the situation, Leslie hung up her phone. Ben was clinging on to the bar in front of him as if he was about to die, his knuckes white. The arguing below not helping either as it reminded him of his own parents arguing during his upbringing.

Ben's startled when we feels a hand on his.

"Are you ok?" Leslie asks.

He shakes his head no, trembling.

Leslie thinks for a moment of what would make him feel better. She puts an arm around his shoulder and drags his body to her until his head is on her shoulder and both her arms are wrapped around him.

She feels so bad for Ben. They'll be stuck for who know how long while Ann is making a deal with Ken for the generator.

"When I was little," she starts, "my mom told me she was deathly allergic to bees."

Ben looked up an starred at Leslie, wonderint where she was going with this story.

"From that moment on, I feared them because I wasn't sure whether or not I was allergic to them. I didn't want to accidently bring a bee home and for it to sting my mom, but it could happen I mean theres an entire movie about a bee falling in love with a human. Anyway, the point is we all have fears that stem from trauma as a kid. It's fine if you don't want to tell me what happened, but I'm not going to make fun of you for it."

She looks over at Ben who looks slightly less pale now then he did before. He takes both his hands off the bar. One of his hand goes behind Leslie's back and the other holds her free hand.

For the next 30 minutes, Leslie and Ben exchange stories from their childhood until the power goes back on. Cuddling into each other the entire time.

When the power finally does return. Ben feels relieved. He never got the chance to tell her the story of why he was scared of heights, but that's ok. Cause when Leslie meets Henry Wyatt, he tells her all about the drop tower. Ben doesn't mind though, he knows she won't leave him for that. She already agreed to marry him.
