Leslie thinks about it for a second. What she would actually do if they world was ending. She was running for office, she has amazing friends, and an amazing ok boyfriend. But did she have everything she wanted out of life.
What she really wanted was Ben. Ben never took the job in Pawnee. He did however come back for the end of the world party and was flirting with Shauna.
She didn't notice the hurt in his eyes when she told him about her boyfriend.
As she always does she went to Ron for advice on her situation.
"If the world was ending tomorrow," she says, glancing over at Ben, "I would want to be him."
"The thing is the world is not ending tomorrow. Your going to wake up and it's going to be a normal Friday and you will be in the same situation you were in as the day before."
Leslie takes in what Ron says and glances over at Shauna and Ben flirting. She looks over at her boyfriend Todd who is sleeping in a chair.
"The world may not be ending, but I need to do something about my life. Even if it means changing everything about it."
She's considered it before. Moving to Indianapolis with Ben. But he never asked when they were together. Instead he just told her he couldn't move to Pawnee, because even though her life was there, his was in Indianapolis.
She taps her boyfriend on the shoulder.
"I'm up, I'm up."
"Todd, I think we need to talk."
She led him out a bit away from the group. Todd knew what was going on. He knew who Ben Wyatt was as soon as he came tonight. He's heard stories about Leslie before they were together. One of his buddies told him "she was up for grabs because her Indianapolis boyfriend dumped her."
"Is this about Benji?"
"I—" how did he know that?
"Look if you're breaking up with me cause your still in love him then fine. The least you can do is set me up with your hotter best friend. You know, the nurse. I mean she has seen my penis before from you know that..."
Leslie was already walking away towards Ben. She'll just ignore everything she heard Todd say.
"Hey."
"Hi."
They stare at each other for a few seconds. Nodding awkwardly.
"So—"
"I'm still in love with you."
They say at the same time.
"What? Your still in love with me. Leslie we've been over this thousands of times. We can't be together we've tried the long distance thing and that never worked out. You know I hate not being around you every day. And I mean, neither of us are willing to move—"
"I never said I wasn't willing to move," Leslie blurts out before she can stop herself.
He looks at her, "You, you would move to Indianapolis for me."
She doesn't say anything, just nods. He looks at her for a few moments.
"Leslie, I can't have you move to Indianapolis for me."
"WELL SOMEONE HAS TO BE MAKING THE SACRAFICES IN THIS RELATIONSHIP BEN!"
Everyone in the circle turns around to look at them. "Sorry everyone carry on."
"Leslie, it's not that. I just don't want you do resent me for making you move away from Pawnee. And I never want you to think I would resent you either if I moved to Pawnee. Face it Leslie, the universe is not on our side. We just can't be together."
Leslie can feel the tears starting. How dare he tell her she can't move to Indianapolis for him. All because he thinks she will resent him. It's imposible for Leslie to resent or hate Ben, because she's so deeply in love with him.
"Maybe your right. Or maybe not. But that doesn't change the way I feel about you. I want to be with you. And I don't care if that means I have to move or you have to move or we both move somewhere else. It doesn't matter. As long as I'm with you."
