Yamato walks to the entrance of the subway with his phone in hand, avoiding the crowd. It can’t be too bad to be cautious, the last thing he wants is the crowd’s attention on his special night off.
“Nii-san!”
He turns his head to the direction where the voice came. He smiles at the sight of you waving your hand up high while jogging towards him.
“Did I take long? I almost missed the bus here, sorry.”
”It was nothing, I told you I’d come pick you up by your place. I bet little Yamaji was on a date with someone and forgot about their older brother? I’m hurt Maji, who’s the lucky person to take my sibling on a date? I’ll knock them off their perch.”
“I don’t have enough middle fingers to express how I feel.”
“That’s mean Maji, at least be a bit kinder to me on my birthday.” He laughs. “Well, where to? Lead the way.”
“Alright, the place I reserved dinner isn’t that far.” You walked with him by his side to the restaurant but to your surprise your reservation was canceled last minute due to the amount of people who was eating there.
It was no surprise, it was Valentines day after all.
“You know what, screw that.” You suddenly pulled Yamato’s wrist and walked away from the restaurant.
“Woah woah, where are we going? How about the reservation-”
“Screw plans, today’s your day nii-san. What do you want to do?”
“Well if it’s up to me..” He then leads you to a ramen shop not far from that restaurant.
“A night out, with me, and the thing you think of is ramen.” You said while look at the menu outside the shop.
“Do you have a better plan? You let me choose, didn’t you?” Yamato leans in to see the menu as well. “Also mind you, I have a diet I follow. These are the rare times I can actually eat ramen.”
“And alcohol is part of the diet? Neat. I wonder how Tsumugi-san is so calm around you guys.”
“Come on, I’ll buy us dinner. You’re getting us dessert later.” Yamato pulls you closer to him with an arm around your shoulders. You look up to him and see him with a wide grin on his face, nothing really beats your sibling being so giddy over the smallest things.
“Of course.”
You take your time and eat at least 2 bowls of ramen for the both of you. The talk you both had was full of laughter, it varied from your university happenings to the daily happenings from the i7 dorms.
After the hearty meal, you both walked by an arcade where you both bought enough tokens to pass time. You mostly spent half of the tokens taking all his chances at the claw machine trying to get a dog plush that he said resembles you because it was fluffy and cute. You protested at first convincing him that you were no where near fluffy and cute but ended up getting it just for the sake that he kept talking about it while you both were playing the games in the arcade.
You took him to an ice cream place after and bought each for you before heading to a cake shop and bought a cake for him, the smallest one though. You both were too full to even have dessert but decided to anyways.
You both head somewhere you can settle down and eat the desserts. The place was somewhere with the scene of the city and Zero arena. Luckily not a lot of people were here, you two had the privacy for your idol brother to avoid attention.
“So, did you give any chocolates to people today? I won’t get mad if you gave the one you liked so much chocolates, I legitimately want to know.”
“Oh fuck off will you nii-san? I don’t find anyone attractive around uni honestly. Maybe I’m just not into finding anyone.”
“Hmm, really? Not even thinking of it? I’d like a little one to take care of- I was joking!” You punch his arm hard at the joke.
“But seriously, I really don’t even take in the idea of valentines every February 14.”
“And why not? Is it not special?”
“I don’t take it as an event worth celebrating anyways. I think of your birthday as an more special celebration every 14th.”
Yamato swoons at your words, who would’ve thought their birthday was actually special to them.
“Oh! Speaking of, I might forget to give this to you.” You take out a black box from the paper bag you’ve been carrying since earlier. He finishes the ice cream cone he’s been nibbling on before reaching for the box, he opens it to see a watch. It looked quite expensive.
“I thought that it would be the most practical gift to say the least, it was on sale today at a shop I keep walking by near uni, I thought that you might like it.”
He takes it out of the box and tries it on, it was a perfect fit. It wasn’t heavy and it felt super light on his wrist, he takes a glance at you and you almost fawn over how nice it looked now that he was wearing it.
“I love it, thank you Maji.”
A faint blush appears on your cheeks and his before sharing a smile.
“The cake!” You said and took it out the box and put the candle on the cake. He lights the candle with the matchsticks that came with the candle. You both held the cake in your hands before singing.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday my dearest older brother who’s a huge pain in this ass~”
“I don’t remember the song being like that.”
He closes his eyes for a while before blowing the candles.
”What’d you wish for?”
“If I said it then it wouldn’t come true, that’s like the most forbidden rule of birthday wishing.”
“Well whatever it is, I hope it comes true. You deserve the best nii-san.”
“Not only me, also you.” He ruffles your hair and lightly smack his hand off your head. “We deserve all the good things Maji. I’m just a call away if you need anything alright?”
“I can just barge in the dorms too, I practically live there.”
“Speaking of, I should take you home. It’s getting late.”
“Yeah, we should probably head back.”
You both get up and head towards your apartment building.
“Hey, nii-san.” You called before stepping in the apartment.
”Mhmm?”
“Happy birthday, again.”
“Thank you, good night Maji.”
“Good night too nii-san.”
He waited until you got inside before he left to go back to the dorms.
“I’m back.” Yamato says as he reached the dorms and notices the living area’s door was left ajar so he opens the door and the place was filled with balloons and Nagi was holding a cake.
“Happy birthday Yamato-san!” Everyone said and Yamato says thank you with a smile.
“Come on Yamato! Blow the candles!” Nagi says and Yamato leans to blow the candles.
“Thank you, everyone.”
”Banri-san, Manager, President, you even bothered to come, thank you.” Yamato says when he noticed they were there.
“It’s IDOLiSH7’s leader’s birthday, of course we’d come and greet him a happy birthday.” President Takanashi says.
”Happy birthday Yamato-san!” Tsumugi says.
“Happy birthday.” Banri follows after.
“Thank you so much.”
“You should clean up and rest Yamato-san.” Sogo says and he nods.
“Ichi, Tamaki, it’s past your bedtime isn’t it? You still have school tomorrow, you two should head off as well.”
“We will!” Tamaki says and he says good night before heading to his room and took off the watch off his wrist before putting the photo you both took at the arcade underneath it on the table in his room.
He would just have to tell the night he had to the others the morning after but for now, he’s more than happy at the amount of appreciation he received from the people around him that value him so much.
I wished that everything will always go fine, no matter what happens for the both of us Yamaji.
