I'm Sorry, I Love You (Let's Spend the Night Together)

Summary:

As much as he respects and admire Heeseung's job, he can’t help but to feel dejected at times like this; without his man’s arm around him to keep him warm, trail of kisses on his skin and whispers of love in his ear.

(Alternatively, Jake missed Heeseung so much.)

Work Text:

Empty. That’s what jake feels right now; if empty is classified as a feeling, that is. The left side of his bed—Heeseung’s—is just as empty as his heart. He always knows, understands that his boyfriend always surrounded with works and people (very similar to him but very not), but today is the friday; the day they both supposed to be free from Heeseung's endless crime papers and Jake’s tiring practice. If days like this is not impossible, it’s rather rare and almost unachievable, because:

One, Jake is a rising, precious, promising talent for his company. And apparently, as a rising, precious, promising talent, he needs more practice than anyone else to the point he thinks his water percentage decreased below thirty percent because he sweats too much.

Two, Heeseung is a busy man, buried in countless stacks of papers written problems of anyone but his—this man is a member of the courtroom, the judge. A very handsome, young judge everyone thought is single and always available to cover up their problems until he has to extend his working hours.

And that is the third reason. People relies on him more than his boyfriend does.

As much as he respects and admire Heeseung’s job, he can’t help but to feel dejected at times like this; without his man’s arm around him to keep him warm, trail of kisses on his skin and whispers of love in his ear.

Jake is always waiting for his off days where he and his boyfriend can share each other’s warmth; while practicing, performing, in studios with his producers, or short breaks between schedules where him and Heeseung can video calls and listen to each other’s ramblings—about the shitty heater at the fan meeting venue or how the court's cafeteria serves uncooked steaks for lunch.

Today though, Jake is especially looking for their ramen date tonight as he did everything to get a day off after months of restless promotion on his new single. He practically begged his manager to talk to the ceo about getting a day to rest before they proceed with the world tour.

He grimaces at the idea of leaving his beloved man for weeks. He got it, gladly, though it’s only for a day. But it’s enough time for Jake to cook dinner for him and his boyfriend after ages eating takeouts.

The problem is; the third reason. Heeseung has been held back by his colleague's work who took an emergency leave because her girlfriend got into an accident. Of course Jake feels bad for the couple, they're not in the wrong—nobody's wrong, actually. Maybe the universe just hates him being happy or he's actually at fault for not consulting the older  when asking a day off.

I should ask leave for saturday instead, he sighs, closing his eyes to take a nap to shorten the time waiting for Heeseung. But his mind has different plan; to showcase memories of him with the raven head like a film camera.

Before he can hold it, a drop of tear slipped off his closed eyelids, dripping to the side. Silent tears turn into loud sobs.

He really miss Heeseung. So much that it hurts.

When bits of memories come to an end, Jake realised how little moments he had with the older. He might even able to count the dates they went to with one hand and the thought of it just makes him much more sadder he couldn't stop the tears. Choked, he sits up and buries his head in his knees before he continues his cries, so loud he can hear himself despite having Justin Bieber on full blast.

So loud he can't even hear the bedroom door opened and the footsteps rushing to him.

The only thing he can hear is the familiar voice whispering into his ear—assuring that "It's okay," and "Everything's alright,"—while being engulfed in a warm hug he's yearning for.

"H-Hyung," he calls, still crying, but instead of in his knees, he buries himself deep into Heeseung's neck, inhaling the calming scent of his cologne.

"I'm here, love," the raven replied, voice just as soft as how Jake remembers, enough to make the latter stop crying.

They stayed for a long while with Heeseung's one hand on the younger's waist, keeping him close and the other stroking his slightly curled locks. After Jake calmed down, tears no longer wetting his cheeks, Heeseung pulled back to cup the other's face in his hands.

"What's wrong, baby? Did something happened? Are you hurt?" He asked, gentle.

Jake blinked a few times to clear his vision, opening his mouth to answer, only to close it back. He too doesn't know why, but he knows he miss him, so he said that.

"I miss you," he mumbled, lips forming into a pout.

Heeseung cooed and chuckled, "I'm sorry, princess. I had work," he planted a kiss on Jake's crown.

Jake sobered up. R ight, oh my god. He must be tired, but he has to soothe a grown man like a fucking baby right after he came home? H ow inconsiderate I can get?

He could see how his boyfriend panics when Jake's eyes turn glassy again. Jake blames himself.

Fuck, why am i being so emotional?

Before he can wipe his own tears, Heeseung beats him to it. He swipes his thumb on the latter's cheeks and plants his face with butterfly kisses.

"I'm sorry," Jake sniffles.

"What—princess, no, why?"

"You must be tired, I'm sorry,"

Heeseung frowns. Seeming to catch up where his boyfriend is getting, he starts, "Jaeyun," he leave a peck on the younger's lips, before continues, "I love you, alright?"

Jake nods, "Me too, I love you too,"

Heeseung leave a peck again, but this time on Jake's forehead. "And I'm the one who should be sorry,"

No, you didn't do anything wrong, is what Jake wanted to say, but the other cuts,

"I know it's hard for you to have a free day, but i prioritised my works anyway," his gaze never leaves the other. "I'm sorry, yeah? Princess?" his eyebrows pulled upward, eyes grow bigger, rounder.

How could Jake says no to his lover's doe eyes, so he nods, pulling him into a hug.

"I love you," Heeseung said again, Jake hates (read: loves) how he's overly conscious about the former's hot breath on his ear, making his whole body heat up.

Jake thinks they should get out of this sad slump and start their night, so he joked, "you stink." Scrunching his nose as he pulled back. Heeseung looks with disbelief.

Jake giggles. "You should shower, I'll heat up the food"

"You cooked?" Heeseung beams. Only god knows how much he miss Jake's cookings.

He grins wide and nods, and that was enough to make Heeseung stands on his feet before rushing— excitedly —to the bathroom.

Adorable, J ake thinks.
