Work Text:
6 years later over the victory of Klaus Mikaelson, the great evil.
Hope is standing at the very top of the astronomical tower and holding on to the parapet with her hands, it's the middle of October and cold gusts of wind are hitting her body hard, but she doesn't even try to apply warming charms... let the cold be not the worst thing in her life.
She is standing there and twirling a white lighter in her hands, in which there has been no gas for a long time. Her Aunt Rebecca gave it to her and made her promise that she would keep this Muggle crap. And in the morning she saw her father burning her aunt from the tapestry. She never saw her again. Until two years later, she returned to support her family in the war against the entire magical world.
She looks into the distance with a dull look of pain and tries to forget all the days she has lived in this place, tries to forget all the emotions, all the people. Now she feels only cold from everyone, she is madly tired of people and she is tired of this light.
She just wants to disappear into the darkness of this night, to dissolve into herself.
She remembers the wonderful time she spent with Josie, which broke into pieces because of some stupid quarrel. She remembers how the brunette screamed at her back, «Maybe you'll die for me?!»
She takes painkillers instead of a full breakfast and overloads herself with Quidditch training to numb the pain. Although she believes that she is better off alone, she still believes that love will save her... it's probably all in vain.
She remembers coming to the great hall in the evening to talk to the brunette and apologize, but stops when she sees Josie next to Finch at the Gryffindor table. Josie smiles at her and looks at her with a twinkle in her eyes. She feels her crystal world breaking into puzzles and realizes that she has the answer to Josie's question.
She meets the brunette's gaze across the room and sees Josie's face contort into a grimace... regrets? No, Hope thinks, it must be just disgust, she is sure that Josie can't feel anything else for her. She turns around and starts to leave, thinking that this is not only the end of their relationship, but also the end of Hope as an artist, because there are no more colors left in her life, only colorless tones.
She comes out of her memories when she realizes that she is already beginning to blossom, and this means only one thing-the day has come in which she no longer has a place.
It's time... Hope thinks. She takes one last look at Josie's picture and takes a step over the parapet, jumping down and plunging into ketamine dreams.
She decides to take all their memories with Josie with her, she needs them more, Josie is waiting for a completely different love there, she is sure.
She will never know that the love of her life - Josie took a step into the abyss after her.
