♡ Extremely possessive and jealous. He will challenge anyone who’s around you that he doesn’t know. He will keep you away from people he does not approve of, and that’s basically everyone except his friends. Johnny will not be able to understand what other people can offer you that he can’t.
♡ His severe insecurities will manifest in his jealousy and rage. He has to maintain the image he’s procured for himself and he never wants to be that loner kid again who can’t afford a new pair of sneakers. He will randomly buy you gifts using Sid’s money just because he can.
♡ He has an intimate knowledge of your likes and dislikes, and will challenge you when your likes don’t sink up with his or when your likes evolve in any way. Even though it’s not your birthday, he buys you a Walkman using Sid’s money and he gets you to listen to all of the music he loves. He won’t find it easy to accept that you don’t love all the bands he loves.
♡ He will touch you constantly, an arm around your shoulder, a hand around your wrist if you’re being particularly combative or uncooperative. He will make it perfectly clear to everyone in the vicinity that you belong to him.
♡ When you are alone with him, these touches became softer. He likes to hold your hand, run his fingers through your hair, cup your cheek and ask you whether you’re okay. He gets in the habit of tracing random shapes and lines onto the back of your hand while you are trying to study or if you’re watching a movie together.
♡ If no one else is around, he will not be as protective of you. In these moments, you’ll be able to see who he really is. He’s thoughtful, passionate, encouraging, he loves to make you laugh, he loves to tease you until you blush. He tell you stories about him and his mom before Sid came along. He will always try his best to keep your spirits up if you’re not doing good, or if you’re feeling ill.
♡ He will take you for long rides on his bike and will drive for hours, just letting the miles go by. This is when Johnny is calmest, with no distractions, no interferences, it’s just you and him, the way things are meant to be.
♡ If he’s had a fight with Sid, you have to be extra careful not to antagonise him. He will blow up on the smallest things, he’ll throw his school work onto the ground, he’ll punch a wall that’s nearby. He’ll be itching to turn things physical because it’s the only way he can process emotion. He will not accidentally destroy your belongings when he’s in a rage about something unrelated to you. If he’s angry at you, he will purposefully destroy the things he’s given you. When he’s cooled off and apologised to you, he’ll buy you new things.
♡ It would be easier if he was just mindlessly angry, but he’s able to harness his rage in a way that unsettles you. Sometimes you wonder if he’ll ever get physical with you, and how far you would have to push him to get him to do that. If you shove him away from you, he will only move closer to you and he will not retaliate.
♡ It will be difficult to get him to open up, he will only do so when you’re alone with him. He confides in you and no one else, and he expects you to do the same. Sometimes he will distract you with kisses so he doesn’t have to talk, but he will relent when you gently encourage him to talk.
♡ He will insist that you watch him train at Cobra Kai when his Sensei occasionally allows visitors. His eyes will meet yours in the mirror and he will smirk at you before he continues to warm up the class.
♡ You will always support him at any tournament he’s in and he’ll hurry over to you to say hi whenever he gets the chance. When he wins, he’ll snatch you up quicker than the trophy and give you tight hug. The validation he receives from his Sensei, from his friends and from you will keep him on a high for weeks.
♡ He will show you off to his friends and praise even your slightest achievements. They will roll their eyes as he boasts about how well you did in a pop quiz, but they know not to say anything disrespectful to you.
♡ If anyone bullies you in any way, even the slightest insult, Johnny will hospitalise them. Instead of being expelled, Sid will offer the school a donation to keep them sweet at his mother’s request.
♡ If anyone shows an interest in you, Johnny and his friends will put them right. Everyone at school will quickly know to steer clear of you, not wanting to risk Johnny’s wrath.
♡ His actions will make it impossible for you to have friends outside of his circle. He will not understand why you would want anyone else in your life. You suppose you are closest to Bobby, but he will keep his distance, all of Johnny’s friends will, knowing that you are off limits. They are more acquaintances than friends.
♡ Johnny’s possessive behaviour may become bad enough that you’ll try to break up with him. At first you use any excuse at your disposal to not spend time with him, to try to put distance between you, but he will always see right through you. He will demand to know what’s going on.
♡ When you explain everything, he will not see your point of view and contend that he’s protecting you, he’s looking after you, why would you need anyone else, why wasn’t he enough for you?
♡ If you manage to keep him calm enough to tell him that you don’t want to be together anymore, he will be incapable of taking it in right away. He will stare at you blankly, unable to accept or comprehend your rejection. He will go deadly silent and not say a word, no matter how many times you ask him whether he’s okay, whether he understands.
♡ The next time you see him is in class where he speaks civilly to you when absolutely necessary, and he will ignore you the rest of the time. A few weeks will pass, where you will try to reconnect with someone in your biology class but you will be met with a polite refusal. Any attempt to make friends will fail. At first you think it’s because of you, because no one wants to be friends with you.
♡ But one day, to your horror, you will find Johnny and his friends circling your lab partner from biology. Johnny will have them by the scruff of their neck, threatening them to keep away from you. He will let them go and they will hurry off in the opposite direction before you can reach them and make sure that they’re okay. As you approach Johnny, he spots you and smirks before he heads off to class.
♡ You might have broken up with him, but he hasn’t broken up with you.
