That was the third time they'd made love since the beginning of their relationship, and the mutual knowledge gained from the previous two times had flowed into it, making it exceptionally more fulfilling.
They were lying in bed, each with one leg out of the covers getting cool, when -
"Oh my God..." Sara suddenly murmured.
"What?"
"I want a cigarette!" she said, full of surprise.
"A cigarette?" Grissom exclaimed, equally surprised.
He pondered it for a moment, as Sara felt that impelling urge turn almost into a real, palpable thing.
"That doesn't sound good," Grissom commented.
After an analysis of her symptoms, she realized what that urge was brought on by.
"Oh well, actually, it does sound good," she asserted in a seductive voice.
Grissom didn't understand, but Sara's look didn't need explanations: we had great sex .
They exchanged a look full of contentment and then returned to their own thoughts as they looked up at the ceiling.
"It's been a long time since you quit smoking." Grissom said after a moment.
"’Nothing too good about smoking ’ , someone once told me." She grinned at the memory.
"’You've never smoked a joint, have you? ’” you had retorted to me that time," Grissom murmured in an absorbed voice.
Sara burst into a laugh so intense it made the mattress shake.
"You remember!" she exclaimed, laughing even harder.
Grissom arched his back slightly, settling down better and relaxing his neck.
"’I work in the police force’, I told you."
"And I had objected that that didn't mean a damn thing. What was it, the second day of the Academy Conference?"
"The first one, actually..."
