They talk, sometimes, in hushed whispers, of what they'll do when they get out. Carl watches as Pete's fingers twitch into chords, gesturing in between to indicate grandiose dreams, reaching across to the other bed with his words. They're going to play gigs, Pete says, all over London, they're going to be famous, they're going to be rich, they're going to be the next Stones, everyone will know their names. The fact that they've been in prison will be an asset. It will make the girls giggle breathlessly at the danger of having their pictures on their walls. Carl allows himself to imagine that everyone will know the words to their songs, and his eyes close. The only way out is to sleep and to dream.
