Chapter 1: Stained Shards of Glass

Chapter Text

| I never knew seeing those green eyes look away from my frame would hurt more than a bullet to the chest. |

{ Osamu Dazai's POV }

As my vision fades the last words that I'd hear were filled with much sorrow. The voice I'd had heard made my body fill with a warm sensation. While the much familiar voice slowly came closer. I just wish I got to see the face of this voice once more.

- "Dazai!"

{ A few minutes before Dazai blacked out (3rd POV) }

- "Go easy on a guy would you?"
A smirk displayed on Dazai's face as he swiftly moved his body in sync with the other to avoid his impacts.

-"Stop..talking!"
The other hardly managed to choke out. It seemed he was already out of breathing and yielding stamina.

-"I would but this fight is just so bor-..."

- Bang -

Guns.
A weapon that could obliterate. A bullet moving so fast there is no time to move. A certain brunette now knew that all too well. Ears rang as his vision blurred. What had gone wrong. Where was he? He could've sworn he was just at the Agency with everyone. So why, why was there blood pouring down his coat, and why didn't he move. Isn't this what he had wanted? It's not a double suicide with a pretty lady but death is death, right?

{ Back to the present }

{ Kunikida Doppo POV }

My eyes shifted to a familiar tan coat I knew all too well. Time seemed as if it slowed as my eyes gradually followed the coat that was slipping away from my grasp. At this moment my arms, as well as my legs, moved on their own. I never thought I'd control my own ideals as before they controlled me. It was always my number one to make sure innocent people never got dragged into missions, or if they did, to make sure they got out completely unhurt. Dazai or a civilian, most likely a kind-hearted person with a lovely family that was expecting him at home not too late for dinner.

Normally for me, the choice would be easy as I knew Dazai could save himself, but seeing his lifeless eyes and his hands falling low down to his sides told me otherwise. I leaped forward catching Dazai in my arms. Catching a broken-off piece of wood to leave us dangling. During this whole fight, my focus was saving these people, not even realizing what had been happening only a few feet away from me. My ears did not even care to catch the sound of a gunshot being fired. All I knew at this moment was I had broken a promise, a family, and later on, a heart.

To soon be continued...
