“surprise!” the sound of your boyfriend’s voice echoing your apartment along with the sounds of confetti tubes being popped off startles you.
it takes you a second to piece together what was happening as you held your hands to your ears. but once it clicks, you drop everything to run to him. you almost knock him over as you wrap your limbs around him but he manages.
“hi, baby. i told you i’d be back.” he says, his face nuzzling into your hair. taking in your scent as you began to cry into him. he can only rock you from side to side, “i’m sorry i took so long…” he can’t find it in himself to tell you that his time away was short.
“i missed you so much, you idiot. god, i thought you would never come back at this rate.” you finally say something, pulling back to get a better look at his face. you take notice of the tears falling down his cheeks but you wipe them away quickly. “don’t cry, jay.”
“you’re crying too.” he managed to let out a breathy laugh as you wipe his tears. finally setting you down so both of you could take each other’s presence in. “i surprised you, didn’t i?”
“you got me good.” your arms are wrapped around him in no time. both of the orbs looking into each other with longing. “you did also break into my apartment.” both you laugh but it quickly fades.
“i love you.” the second the words leave his lips; he’s leaning in. his soft lips attacking your own with desperation to show you how much your absence ruined him.
you can feel him growing greedy, taking all your air. but you don’t push him away; feeling breathless was expected when you were around someone like him. someone so beautiful and pure.
“i love you too. always.”
“always.”
