Temptations

Summary:

How bad she wanted for Nayeon to close the remaining distance, to push her over the edge and let her fall freely. Down the endless cliff, into the pitch dark ocean. How bad she wanted to drown in Nayeon, it was ridiculous.

Chapter 1: A Pleasure Meeting You, Miss Im

Chapter Text

Nayeon was ready to call it a night as she chugged down her what fifth martini of the night? The burning in both her throat and abdomen momentarily increasing with the fresh liquid sliding down her pipe.

The heavy bass vibrated through her entire body as she pushed herself up to her feet and away from the uncomfortable bar stool, pulling down her tight black dress, earning not-so-innocent glances from both men and women.

Being an undeniably attractive woman in her mid twenties, has gained her a lot of suitors and appreciation for her visual appearance - some endearing some unsettling. And despite having several people approach her, Nayeon couldn’t bring herself to be interested in even one of them, always rejecting their advances with a stoic face, more than tired of the never ending soulless love declarations.

That was until a woman, maybe in her early twenties or so, wearing a small light blue dress - which fit her perfectly Nayeon remarked in her head - basically smashed their bodies together blabbering something along the lines of “You ready to leave baby?” in a rather loud voice, seemingly nervous.

Just as Nayeon was about to question the younger girl, a bulky guy entered her line of vision, his eyes unmistakably glued to the latter. “Why did you leave? We were just starting to have fun!” the overly confident man started. Clearly a douche bag, Nayeon noted, subconsciously rolling her eyes.

“I didn’t know you were with a friend, bring her along, that would be even better.” he smirked in a disgusting manner, eyeing Nayeon up and down instead, thinking him eye-fucking her was actually appealing. The girl made eye contact with Nayeon hoping the other would understand her silent plea of help, her heartbeat going wild in her ribcage, afraid the other didn’t know a way out of this either.

Luckily for her Nayeon had indeed caught on to the situation unfolding right before her eyes, and therefore held the girl close by her waist, shooting the man a death glare as she slightly adjusted their position to shield the blond from the, without a doubt, intimidating men.

“I don’t think I’d feel comfortable having my girlfriend leave with you. And if I’m being honest, I’m not exactly interested myself. So mind leaving us alone, hm?” Nayeon said with the fakest smile she could muster, making sure he knew it was a fake one, one eyebrow raised mockingly; the calmness in her voice asserting an alarming sense of self-confidence and dominance.

In turn he let out a laugh of disbelief at hearing her talk, assuming she was bluffing and putting on a hard front - seemed somewhat familiar maybe. “And who do you think you are? Can’t your ‘girlfriend’ talk on her own? Afraid she would actually want to leave with me?” he smirked once again, pride too high to just let the girl go.

“No. I’m pretty sure she would leave with me either way,” Nayeon smiled confidently. “And I’m afraid I’ll have to make sure no one will ever leave with you again, if you don’t leave us alone any time soon. Understood?” she threatened, the grin on her lips not matching her words at all, making her look like some smug thug (nice rhyme!) from a bad mafia movie.

“And how would you do that, you gonna call your daddy?” the man mocked despite the slight shake in his voice, his arms crossing in front of his chest, eyes scanning the crowd with a hint of annoyance. Very manly indeed.

“You want to find out that bad huh,” Nayeon chuckled, looking at the girl next to her, fixing her slightly disheveled hair, eyes flickering between her eyes and lips. “Let’s start with having you removed from the club, shall we?” a sinister smile grazing her features as she turned her head to look back at the guy in front of them.

With a short nod and a sharp “Thank you.” from Nayeon, the security men disappeared back into the crowd, the wannabe flirt in tow, trying hard to escape the strong grip the men had on him, stuttering out seemingly every insult he could think of. Taunting him with a little wave, Nayeon turned to fully face the girl next to her.

Her expression changed from the teasing grin to a soft smile as soon as she faced the blond properly. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you anywhere?” she stepped back a little to give the girl some room, not wanting to cling onto her and make her uncomfortable like their lovely companion from before did.

“No no I’m fine.” vigorously waving her hands to assure her saviour he hadn’t hurt her physically, the younger went on stumbling over her words, trying to express her gratitude in a coherent sentence “Thank you so much for helping me though.” with a light bow of her head.

“It’s no big deal, guys like him seriously shouldn’t be in places like this.” Nayeon complained, shaking her head in obvious exasperation. The fact that the club’s security is particularly high for this location, yet such people still manage to set a foot in the site, bothered Nayeon more than such occurrences usually did.

Is this too much? Too straightforward? she contemplated inside her mind, overthinking her next words, not sure whether she was pressuring the blond unnecessarily.

“Can I take you home…” albeit hesitant, she continued lowly. Right hand stretching forward, pointing at the woman in front of her, asking for her name discreetly.

“Ah, Mina. Myoui Mina.” a light giggle. “And you don’t have to, you practically just saved me that’s enough, trust me. I am really grateful so it should be me repaying you…” reaching her hand out in a similar fashion as the older, suppressing the little laugh that was threatening to escape her throat at her own very funny comeback.

A pretty name for a pretty girl.

“Right, Im Nayeon, sorry.” the older started, actually amused by Mina’s sense of humour. “And it’s nothing. Let me take you home…please? I don’t think I’d be comfortable with you leaving alone at such hour.” she went on.

“How are you so sure I’m alone?” came the answer in a teasing tone, Mina’s left eyebrow shooting upwards, the playful attitude written all over her face, way different from the terrified expression from just a few minutes ago - and way more pleasant than the previous one. Cute.

“Would you’ve come up to me if your friends were around?” Nayeon asked with a raised brow, smirking at Mina, joining the game of teasing.

“Who knows. Maybe this was my plan all along. Having some random dude pestering me to get your attention?” Mina joked, her competitiveness kicking in, urging her to have the last word in their little banter.

“I don’t take you for such person. So let me take you home?” Nayeon tried once again, smiling when Mina nodded in agreement, reaching her hand out for the blond to hold onto, leading her towards the club’s exit, her other hand manoeuvring through the applications on her phone, calling someone on their way out.

Both inhaled deeply the moment the night’s chilly air engulfed them, fresh oxygen the extremely crowded nightclub simply couldn’t provide filling their lungs. “Do you come here often? I haven’t seen you around that much,” Nayeon asked a little later, leaning against the cold wall with her back, head rolling to the side to make eye contact with Mina.

“No it’s my first time here. I thought going clubbing alone would be an exciting experience.”

The older answered with a low hum, getting where she was coming from - familiar with the adrenaline rush college students seized. “Was it?” Nayeon asked.

“What?” Mina questioned, scrunching up her face slightly confused, a little shy in Nayeon’s presence. The woman looked so ethereal in the form fitting little black dress, making Mina’s mind run wild.

Internally swooning over the in her eyes adorable-little-most-likely-habit, Nayeon repeated her question calmly. “Was it exciting?”

“Oh right, sorry.” embarrassed at her short lived confusion, the blond’s cheeks and ears turned a soft shade of pink. A cute contrast to the neatly bleached hair. “I mean it was, but not exactly in the good way y’know? Having a guy basically chase you is not as pleasant as it sounds.” she tried to joke, a slightly uneasy expression settling on her face, despite her futile attempt to keep her lips in a natural upwards curve.

Nayeon notices. She always does. Reading people is the one thing she was always particularly good at; always required to be good at. Human’s facial expression, body language, tone of voice and every other seemingly unnecessary detail revealed so much about their inner feelings and state of mind, they’d feel naked and exposed, had they been told straight to the face.

‘You need to know how people feel, about you, about what you say or what you do.’

‘You need to able to read them like an open book.’

‘Analyse. Rather than to rely on someone else’s words, make use of your own senses.’

‘Guarantee that those close to you harbour no ill feelings towards you.’

‘Let them know that it’s no use trying to betray you.’

‘Don’t make them envy nor admire you. But do make them respect you.’

Her father had always been eager when it came to teaching Nayeon; the heiress of his wealth, his company, his life work, his everything.

Catching a glimpse of the familiar black Mercedes, Nayeon happily declared the arrivance of their ride, eager to settle in the warm car, slowly becoming uncomfortable in the very revealing dress. A man in his fifties, clad in a neat black suit, stepped out of the car and towards the two young woman “Good evening Miss Im.” he greeted, bowing at her in a clean forty-five degree angle.

Giving him a short nod and polite smile in return, Nayeon impatiently headed for the car, pulling Mina with her, announcing that they’d be dropping her off prior to heading home themselves. “Of course Miss Im.” the driver answered before softly closing the car’s rear door, making his way back to the driver’s side, settling behind the wheel requesting Mina’s home address.

A comfortable settled in the car after Mina shared her address, the only sound resonating through the car being the continuous rustling of the wheels moving across the asphalt. After about two minutes the blond finally let herself ask the question burning on her tongue, ever since the car to take them home arrived. “Should I ask as to why you have a driver? Or…” she dared to question, her voice barely above a whisper, afraid she was being rude or noisy, body leaning slightly over to Nayeon.

Diverting her eyes from gazing out of the window and onto Mina, Nayeon responded with “I’ll explain another time. How bout lunch on…Sunday?” an endearing and maybe a little hopeful expression grazing her features. Mina stared at her for a few seconds before responding, briefly lost in her thoughts; She looks even prettier with the street light shining onto her face like that. “Lunch? Yeah sound great.” Mina breathed out showing off her gummy smile, almost giving Nayeon a heart attack.

“Can I have your number to you know…make sure you don’t forget about our lunch date?” Nayeon asked with a sheepish grin. Smooth Im, smooth. Proud of her still very much intact flirting skills, she almost missed the fleeting stunned and flushed expression on the blond’s face. Almost.

Date? Did I just hear that right? Mina panicked internally, going with a simple “Sure,” for an answer, not trusting her mush of a brain to not embarrass her with a pointless word vomit in front of an incredibly pretty woman, a fresh blush flourishing on her face.

“Lovely,” Nayeon shot right back in an excited tone, her hand rummaging through her tiny purse until she got a hold of the god sent little device, that would connect her to the god sent woman sitting next to her, handing it to Mina almost immediately after unlocking it. “There you go.”

As Mina punched in the digits of her phone number, Nayeon eyes naturally wandered the paths of Mina’s face, admiring every oh so little detail, entirely enchanted by the soft and innocent aura engulfing the blond. Perfect nose. Full lips. Sharp eyes. Rosy cheeks. And those cute moles. Nayeon noted in her mind just how flawless Myoui Mina seemed to be.

“Here,” her train of thoughts was interrupted by Mina pocking her thigh with her phone, handing it back to her, once again grinning at her, seemingly aware of the admiring gaze, or stare if she was being honest, directed at her features.

Replying with “Thank you very much.” in a funny tone earned her a sweet giggle from Mina, only further supporting her little conspiracy theory of the other being some kind of angel or fairy - she wasn’t all too sure herself, not exactly familiar with any magical creatures and the criteria for being one. Definitely heaven sent.

“We have arrived Miss Im.” Mr. Park always knew just how to destroy the best moments in Nayeon’s life. In reality he was purposely teasing her - the gaze directed at her through the rearview mirror proving exactly that - but Nayeon had a tendency to dramatise things just a tiny bit. She earned the title ‘drama queen’ given to her by her sisters, rightfully after all.

Sensing this to be her cue to leave the car, Mina wanted to thank the older once again, before heading up to her apartment. “I really appreciate all the help, Nayeon.” Her right hand grabbing Nayeon’s left one, squeezing lightly to convey the deep running gratitude. The evening could’ve turned out way different for her if it wasn’t for Nayeon after all.

Not wanting to leave on an emotional note, she added one last thing, before closing the car's door. “It was a true pleasure meeting you Miss Im.” the younger teased with a silly wink, head dipping down to take one last look at Nayeon.

Very much intrigued by the blond’s charm she let out a low chuckle, once more engaging in the teasing “The pleasure’s all mine Miss Myoui. And it really is no big deal trust me.” her voice turning more serious and reassuring with the last sentence.

“Good night Nayeon.” Mina husked out, somehow hesitant to raise her voice to a higher volume. “Night Mina.” was the last thing she heard before the door shut entirely. Nayeon’s gaze followed Mina until she disappeared into her building and from Nayeon’s sight. Heaving out a long sigh before requesting for her driver to take her home, Nayeon’s mind continued to run around Mina, and what her rising interest in the younger would eventually lead to.
