it was one of their best days, renewing their vows, appreciating their perfect bond as best friends, husband and wife, parents. they were kissing in the little wonderful energy of Flashtime waving around them. finally she parted from the kiss and asked for continuing the party with their great family.
Iris: We should stop it before you get too sweaty and then they start having dirty thoughts about us.
Barry chuckling: Uh, sure.
everyone was still clapping and cherishing them then suddenly a vibrating voice echoed in everywhere around them:
The man that Iris loves.
You have everything and deserve none of it.
everyone was in shock and hesitation of what they’re hearing. Barry pulls Iris to behind him then tries to focus.
Iris: Savitar?
a hand drilled from the back of Iris's chest, the blur of nothing comes visible and everyone blinks in amazement and terror of what was before their eyes. Barry blinked slowly and held his breath, he knew it by now that Savitar was behind them and he just passed Iris to him. he couldn’t turn and see, he was frozen of this stupid mistake he made, easily got manipulated and failed to save another dear person in his life.
Savitar was standing behind Iris, having a grip of her body not to let her fall.
Savitar: Miss me? No? Oh well, consider me as jealous.
he knocked the back of Barry’s knee, making him drop on his knees. then went in front of him, leaned and placed Iris in Barry’s hands. they stared at each other for couple moments, Barry saw the raw wildness in his eyes and Savitar saw the shock and desperation in his. Bart tried to go near his mother but his body started to fading.
Bart: Mom! Dad!
Nora: BART NO-
now they both were fading. Barry was in a hollow. he wasn’t sure if it all was just his worst nightmare or the hallucination he had before but even if he was in control, not even him but no one else could really do anything about it. so Bart and Nora faded and got erased.
Savitar: Ouch, been there.
he stood up, staring at Iris with unreadable eyes, the soul was leaving her body. Barry was crying and holding her tightly.
Barry: I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.
her breath was crackly but she managed to say her last words.
Iris: I love... you... no matter... what.
she looks at Savitar with her not so alive eyes.
Iris: And you.
she murmured something he couldn’t hear so he fell on his knees and leaned to hear her.
Savitar: Hmm?
Iris: Go to hell.
he scoffed and smirked, then whispered to her ear.
Savitar: Oh don’t worry, I’ll see you there. Hell is big enough for all of us.
then he put a kiss on her temple and stood on his feet again. Cisco tried to take his chance and use something to hit the back of Savitar’s head before he could fully stand up but he was aware of that and turned to him and judge his hit then grabbed Cisco’s head and smacked it to somewhere in a wall. he adjusted his jacket then gave a knowing glance to the people around him and looked back at Iris.
with the last sign of her existence melting away from her body, Barry realized no matter how powerful he become, in the end, he’s always powerless to save the people he loves and the reason he came this far was all just because of her but now without her, there is no future. Savitar looked at Barry with satisfaction in his wild eyes then looked at the crowd.
Savitar: Now, who’s next?
Joe was covering his mouth and crying quietly, grieving. he couldn’t concentrate on anything else. everyone still was in disbelief of how all of this bitter happened in the sweet moment they had but finally Cecile and Jay tried to gain some control of the situation. Cecile started to manipulate and take control of his mind but it wasn’t working, she stopped and stared at him, he gave a short, mirthful laugh.
Savitar: A little reminder: I was the one who controlled Julian’s mind. No one can control mine.
he smirks and winks at her. he sighs and walks around as he was talking.
Savitar: You know what’s so great about being a God?
Jay tries to whoosh towards him, Frost creates icicles and gets them ready.
Savitar: Is that maybe you can’t control the time but you definitely can have the powers of all the forces.
then in the middle of Jay’s way, Frost blasts him with the icicle which was supposed to strike Savitar.
Savitar: Oh, Frost... Frost, Frost... You’ve always had daddy issues didn’t you? (glances at Jay) Sorry not sorry Garrick. To be fair, your race was over long time ago.
Allegra tries to hit him with her waves but again she couldn’t just like the others.
Savitar: You’ve lost your powers, Allegra? It was Allegra right?
she couldn’t even make a sound anymore. she was just staring at him with her mouth shut. he brings his hand to his ear and has the gesture.
Savitar: What? I couldn’t hear you. Oooh! What a mess! You’re just like your cousin now.
he let out a devilish laugh. everything was gloom and doom. none of them could do anything helpful and save the others.
Barry: ENOUGH! You did what you wanted, just stop it!
Savitar pouted and narrowed his eyes while he was surveying the team then looked back at Barry with his head tilted and the smirk on his lips.
Savitar: Sure. Actually I’m bored so I’m gonna just-
he whooshes and in seconds later all of them were on the ground. Barry looked at him with panic in his eyes. Savitar has the deadly grim look on his face, satisfied of his feeding on Barry’s fear and horror.
Savitar: All the powers are off but the others... They’ve survived today but no promises for the future.
Barry: I’ve got the power too, why not kill me? There’s no future for me anyway.
he said it with the tears running down his cheek, a cracked voice and a broken tone.
Savitar: You’ve made me to live a life without her, I’m just gonna return the favor.
he inches closer to Barry as he was looking down at him.
Savitar: Don’t even think about killing yourself because I won’t let you. Not until you see all their deaths.
he gives Barry a mixture look of seriousness, anger and sadness. he leans down to caress Iris’s cheek but Barry grabs his hand and pushes it away.
Barry: Don’t you dare touch her.
Savitar glares at him then decides to sting him with his classy sarcasm.
Savitar: Fine, she wasn’t mine anyway.
Barry knew what he meant. he always wanted Iris and when he couldn’t have her, he could be some kind of Vandal Savage of his own.
Savitar stood, walked towards the door and turned back to look at Iris and Barry for the last time that day.
Savitar: Uh, one more thing. Tell them instead of wasting their time on figuring out a way to take me down, enjoy the last moments of their perfect lives. Tick-tock.
he gives him the last wink and smirk then whooshes out, leaving him to drown in his sorrow and pain, like he always was for his parents but now he was in sorrow of his best friend, the love of his life. the only person who made him keep going the shitty life he had. Savitar was right long ago when he said he can never get over this death.
who knows what would Barry Allen do when he’s lost and doesn’t have an Iris West in his life anymore...?
there’s no denial on what he told her years ago on the roof of the jitterz. “ Without you there wouldn’t be The Flash “ there wasn’t any Flash in 2024, even the remnant of himself turned to something that he’d never imagined he could ever be like that.
but now... in a whole new world after everything he’s been through, on this day, that was supposed to be one of his best days and moments, he was destroyed by every way possible. all his fears came true and he was the most paralyzed guy in the room.
would he after this, fight for his left loved ones? or he would just start a war to end the world? may that anger be a cover for his pain just like what Savitar did. or even none of it... maybe he’ll just drop the fight, give it all up and just vanish in a nowhere to be found because for him, there’s no future without Iris West-Allen.
