Chapter Text
“Han Jisung! Prepare to have your ass beaten down so hard not even
Minho-hyung will be able to find you!”
“Well at least he’d look for me, which is more than I could say for you Hwang!”
Felix could only stare in amazement at the shining level of idiocy in front of him.
Not to flex on anyone, but he’s seen his fair amount of battles in his 15 years of living, which admittedly, isn’t very long (according to Chan-hyung), but certainly long enough to know that whatever’s about to happen will only spell trouble.
For context, this argument was bound to happen eventually, Felix just thought it would be for something more serious like trainer rankings or battle techniques, NOT a homemade muffin.
Jisung and him had arrived in Ecruteak City pretty late in the evening and were understandably exhausted. Ready to pass out on some comfy Pokè Center beds, but imagine their surprise when they happen to run into Hwang Hyunjin. Again.
You heard right, this was not their first encounter, in fact, this was their 3rd time meeting. If there’s one thing Felix’s brother got right, it was that first impressions MATTER.
Unfortunately, Jisung didn’t get this memo before meeting Hyunjin.
…..
Their first encounter happened two weeks ago in Ilex Forest. Jisung and Felix were searching for some apricorns, Jisung in particular was looking for the white variety. They had been in the forest the whole afternoon and hadn’t managed to find a single white apricorn.
Right as they were about to give up and go back for the day, by some miracle they ran into a tree with a single white apricorn. Jisung was so relieved, Felix was sure his soul had finally returned to his body. Unfortunately, like all good things, trouble was soon to come. This time in the form of tall and handsome young man.
As soon as Jisung reached out to grab the fruit, a certain Hwang Hyunjin’s hand grabbed on too.
The stare down was something Felix would never forget. Without a single word both boys were ready to stab each other with their eyes. This didn’t last long and eventually dissolved into a petty argument between strangers.
They were so engrossed in their fight, that they completely missed the wild rattata quietly sneaking away with the fruit. By the time they did notice, they only used it as ammunition against each other. And Felix, the poor bystander, had to stand there and watch it all go down.
It took some intervention from Old man Kurt to stop that seemingly never ending chaos. That was the beginning of this ongoing debacle.
…..
Flash forward to the present, now the morning after and the product of pent up anger has finally combusted.
“Look Hwang, just fork up the damn muffin, didn’t you say you didn’t like raisins?”
Jisung stares at the other incredulously.
“Well I changed my mind, besides it would be rude to Minho-hyung who went out
of his way to bake them for us.” The mention of Minho seemed to infuriate Jisung even more.
“Oh come on! At least be honest, the only reason you want the thing is to earn
some brownie points after your Fennekin nearly burnt Hyung’s Liepard!” Felix was inclined to agree with Jisung on that one, the sight of Minho’s barely contained rage was mildly traumatizing, and he wasn’t even the culprit.
“So what! You’re probably just hogging all of hyung’s muffins to get on his good
side and make your battle easier, you weakling!” Felix could only wince at that one. As Jisung’s friend he knows that the real reason for his insistent pampering of their Hyung was out of genuine affection. Seriously, the first day he met the boy he went on long winded speech about his love and admiration for the elder.
Which makes this whole thing even more absurd, since Hyunjin holds Minho in a similar regard. Felix remembers over hearing Hyunjin talk Seungmin, Nurse Joy’s son, ear off about how much Minho had inspired him to pursue battling, despite his promising modeling career.
These two, who have such a commonality, are arguing as if the other is their polar opposite. It’s all just ridiculous.
“Weakling!!! That’s it Hwang! Let me show you once and for all, how this
“Weakling” can beat you so bad, not even that pretty face could save you!” Jisung is fuming now and has somehow manifested a pokeball into his hand. Not to be outdone, Hyunjin also readies one of his own.
“Fine! Time put your money were your mouth is squirrel boy” Both stanced up
and ready for a battle, Felix can’t help but think it was a good thing to take breakfast outside today.
“Ready! Set! Fight!” The two competing boys send out their pokemon. Jisung
bringing out Pachirisu and Hyunjin Fennekin. Since neither had a clear advantage, Felix knew this was going to be a nightmare.
……..
30 minutes. 30 long minutes of inane fighting and no clear winner insight. At this point it would be faster for the two to just fight it out with their bare-fists. Unfortunately for Felix, reality sure wasn’t on his side.
“Pachirisu use Spark!”
“Fennekin use Protect!”
Of course leave up it to good old physics, to turn Felix’s morning even more sour. The attack managed to ricochet at just the right angle to go barreling towards Felix and the stupid muffin at the center of it all. With how vigorous the attack was there was no way he could dodge and could only face it head on.
“ESPEON USE LIGHT SCREEN!” In the nick of time, an Espeon jumped in front
of him and created a barrier between Felix and the stray attack, completely absorbing it before it could hit him. Felix was paralyzed from shock, the Espeon remained firmly in front of him in case of any more danger.
The sound of faint panting could be heard, a handsome brunette boy could be seen sprinting towards the scene. As he got closer he completely bypasses the two culprits and crouches down towards Felix, who had somehow managed to fall back out of his chair.
“Oh my Arceus! Felix are you all right?! How many fingers am I holding up?” Still
a little dazed, Felix managed to respond correctly to the others questions. Once affirming the other’s safety, the young man finally address the two idiots who caused this.
“HAN JISUNG AND HWANG HYUNJIN, WHAT IN ARCEUS’ NAME IF WRONG
WITH YOU TWO!” The boys are paralyzed stiff, having realized that their actions almost had dire consequences.
“For what reason was such an irresponsible battle taking place?! One of you
better answer me now or I’m banning you both from my gym!” Knowing that other’s patience was running very thin, they both clamored to speak up.
“Minho-hyung, he was hogging all the muffins!”
“Hyung, he stole what was clearly my muffin!”
Seeing that they were speaking over one another, they both tried to explain over one another. Minho soon grew sick of their idiotic display.
“SHUT UP!” The two immediately went silent.
“You’re both telling me that this whole thing started over a damn muffin?!
Seriously! From all my years as a Gym leader, this is surely the dumbest excuse of fight I have ever seen.” The two scolded boys could do nothing but stand with the heads down.
“I am so disappointed in the both of you. You two are banned from taking part in
my gym challenge until further notice. You two should think about what you’ve done and apologize to Felix. Especially you Jisung, your supposed to be his best friend.” That last part made the boy in question hunch over even further, his shoulder slightly shaking.
Not giving them any more attention, Minho helps Felix walk back into the center to receive a well needed check. The two boys could only watch them walk away.
