Chapter 1: Spilt coffee

Chapter Text

Beep beep beep.

“5 more minutes.” The massive lump on the bed groans out, shifting from under the sheets of his comforter.

Beep beep beep.

"Leave m'alone.” Jimin slurred out, shutting his eyes tighter and attempting to bury his face deeper into his pillow. He tries his best to ignore the continuous beeping of his alarm clock and twists his body to the other side of his bed away from the noise.

“Beep beep beep.”

Jimin frowns, reaching over to his night stand in an attempt to silence his alarm clock. His brows furrow even deeper when he feels nothing on his table, his alarm clock would usually cause vibrations on the board however it was awfully silent there.

“Beep beep beep!”

Jimin takes a deep breath in and moves to grab his phone under the pillow, In one swift motion he quickly lifts his blanket off his head and points his phone forward as if it would even closely serve as a weapon.

“Beep beep beep-”

“Hyung, What the fuck?” Jimin cuts out, slapping a hand over his forehead at the pathetic view of his best friend at the foot of his bed. The brunet had Jimin's digital alarm clock held on his left hand, pressing on the alarm and copying the sound of beeping the machine was emitting.

Beep beep

“Beep!” Jin continued, earning a glare from Jimin as he cackled out with how ridiculously convincing his sound imitation was.

“Oh my god, You're officially out of it.” Jimin rasped out, pinching his temples as he felt like a migraine was about to attack his supposedly peaceful Monday morning.

“I'm calling 911, Get out of my apartment. How did you even get in here?” Jimin accused, Kicking the covers off of his frame and throwing a pillow towards Jin as the latter had still not finished acting like a kid. “Are you serious?” Jimin huffed out when the brunette started copying the sounds of a rooster.

Jin laughs loudly, causing Jimin to wince at the loud noise. “It's too early for this.”

“You should be happy I didn't threaten to burn your BTS posters.” Jin retorted, finally stopping his ministrations to pull Jimin out of bed. “Hurry up, We're gonna be late!”

Jimin slaps his best friend's shoulder with a scowl, mumbling about how he'd chop Jin's dick off if he even went near his posters.

“You could have woken me up properly, you know.” Jimin groaned out, slumping over the edge of his bed in a half laying position. “I'm so lazy.”

“What's the fun in that?” Jin answered his first question, grabbing the pillow that was thrown his way awhile ago to seek revenge on Jimin. He slams the pillow on Jimin's head and cackled when he latter topples over the bed.

“Hyung!” Jimin screeched out, pushing himself up from the floor and swinging a punch towards his bestfriend. (He missed)

He should really start rethinking his friend choices.

“What time is it even?” Jimin asked, his frown never leaving his face as he opens his phone to check the time.

“Holy shit, It's 7:30!”

“7:30” Jin says in unison with Jimin, raising an eyebrow at the latter who began to panic and run towards his wardrobe.

“Why didn't you wake me up earlier?!” Jimin exclaimed, rushing to grab his bath towel hanging over his study table's chair.

“See, So now you're mad I didn't wake you up.” Jin scolded, helping Jimin grab a few toiletries so he could rush in the bathroom. “Don't take too long or I'll abandon you so you'll get lost finding your first period!”

“Stop, Hyung!” Jimin screamed out from the bathroom, his voice muffled. Even in the confines of those four walls, he could hear Jin's cackling from behind the door.

“I'm gonna go ahead and run a few errands before I go to NYU.” Jin called out, grabbing his car keys and sending a salute to Jimin despite the obvious lack of vision from the blonde. “See you at campus, Min!”

Jimin basks in the silence for awhile, Rushing to finish his bath as quickly as he could so he would have time to dry his hair.

It's amazing what a time stamp can do to you, Adrenaline pulls up all your energy to be able to finish the task you're trying to fulfill.

In a record time of 15 minutes, Jimin was able to fully dress himself and finish drying his hair. Save for himself almost burning off his scalp from the highest setting of the blow dryer, but at this point all that really matters is Jimin looks like he slept for five years and woke up just as gorgeous.

As Jimin was stumbling over his own legs whilst trying to put his shoes on, His phone rings. Blood, Sweat and Tears bleeding through his phones speakers as he tripped over to grab his phone and answer. The blond lights up immediately once he hears the voice at the end of the line, His mouth curling upwards in a happy grin.

“Hobi-hyung!” Jimin exclaimed in glee, reaching down to tie his laces. Skillfully pressing his phone against his ear and his should blade to keep it in place.

« Hey Minie! » Hoseok voiced out from the other side of the line. « Just caling to check in on you, How's Seoul so far? »

“Haven't done much yet, hyung.” Jimin explained, stepping infront of his mirror to fix a cardigan over his shirt to look more well put. After all, NYU was a considerably high end school. Jimin was lucky enough to pass a scholarship as paying the tuition would cost more than his life. He's glad to have helped reduce his brother's financial distress even by a fraction. “I'm almost late for orientation, actually.” Jimin rushed out to say, unable to feel irritated when he hears Hoseok's tinkling laughter on the other line.

His fondness hasn't changed a bit for his older brother, He still admired him for all of the sacrifices he made just to sustain both of their lifestyle. Hoseok has always been in more ways, a parent to Jimin. Their conversation continues with a light banter, allowing Jimin to finish his light make up before the call even ended.

“Will you be coming back soon?” Jimin asked gently, a pout obvious in his tone to which his brother chuckled at.

« Give me a little more time. » Hoseok sighed out, trying to sound as optimistic as possible. « All I'm left signed for is at least another month of the contract, » His brother pauses for a while « Once I get out of it, I'll book the closest flight to Seoul. I promise. »

“Don't rush, hyung. I was just curious.” Jimin comforted, frowning slightly. “Is your company abusing you again?”

« No! » Hoseok defended, Not wanting his brother to worry about the mistreatment of the management. « I'm just waiting for the legal bind to pass, I've already passed my resume to NYU. They told me to fly over for a final interview and I could actually teach dance there with better pay. »

“Hyung, really?!” Jimin gasped out, his eyes watering almost immediately in happiness. They've been away from each other for so long that it's almost a dream for them to go back to their old banters while their parent's were still alive.

“That's such good news!” the blond rambled, “Do you need me to print some of your application forms after my class this week? next week? What do you think?”

« Minie, Calm down. » Hoseok laughed out from the other line « I'm okay. I can handle it, You should start heading over to campus if you don't want to be even more late than you already are. »

“I'm so proud of you hyung.” Jimin said with fondness, his smile returning to his face as his eyes curled up into crescents.

« I'm even more proud of you, Mochi. » Hoseok reiterated, « Have fun on your First day, Kill 'em! »

Jimin laughed at the last part of his brother's sentence that was an awkward attempt to speak English with an accent. “I will, hobi hyung. Take care alright? Love you.”

« Love you, minmin. »

Immediately after the line drops, Jimin strides towards his body length mirror to gives himself a once over. When he was satisfied by how he looked, He grabs his keys and slings his bag on his shoulders before walking out of his apartment with renewed energy.

He hoped NYU was fully ready for him, because he sure as hell was ready for NYU.

New Yield University is nothing like Jimin imagined.

In fact, He never thought he'd even have the privelege of stepping foot in such a luxurious school. He realizes Jin had not been over exaggerating how big and beautiful their campus was. He takes pride in knowing he passed for the Campus' scholars as he could never afford this in real time.

Before you reach the main gate of the campus, their long and massive fields we're  graced with small air-conditioned buildings of all sorts. Some conveniently placed, like those that sold stationaries, printing services and the like. What caught Jimin's attention was the coffee shop; Epiphany. It stood out from the rest of the buildings for Jimin, as it didnt seem as flashy as the other stalls. It looked rather calming, and Jimin found himself taking long strides forward to catch a whiff of the brewing coffee inside the shop.

He almost moans in delight once the smell of coffee wafts off in the air, the bell rings as he enters. Like what he expected, the shop was awfully peaceful and relaxing. He predicts he'll spend most of his time here, unless Jin was able to drag him away somewhere. They barely had classes together anyway, As  Jimin's bestfriend was two years higher than him. He acts like a dork most of the time but Jimin loved him.

The blond carefully chooses his drink while he was waiting in line, Service was fast too. He didn't even have to wait long for him to be able to place his order with ease. He ordered a simple Caramel Macchiato as he didn't know what othe options to try, The bartender looked foreign, and he spoke in a blurry accent so Jimin backed out from asking which drink was their best seller.

Jimin manages to pop the lid of his drink open so it would cool down faster, curiosly taking in his sorroundings and mentally marking his target: The bench. It seemed like today was Jimin's lucky day as he had expected to be late, but the campus Dean decided to move their orientation a little later. This was evidenced by the text Jimin had received earlier on while he was waiting for his order.

With a soft sigh, Jimin fumbles through his pocket to grab his phone. Texting Jin would have been the best option as he had so much time to kill, and hand no idea about the crevices and guidelines of the university at all. In his haste he forgets to look at where he was going, the sidewalks of th School was already busy so it falls on Jimin as to why he bumps into someone.

It doesn't register immediately, but it does once Jimin feels searing pain beginning from his hand up to his chest as the coffee slowly soaked into his clothes and onto his skin.

The impact causes Jimin to stumble back slightly and tilt the already opened freshly brewed coffee all over himself.

“Fuck.” the stranger infront of him swore, taking a step back to avoid getting hit by the hot coffee.

“you?!” Jimin screeched back, the stranger's voice was laced in a thick Busan accent. Jimin couldn't even register how handsome he looked with how much pain he was feeling - he had nothing to change his clothes with either.

“Didn't you see me?!” Jimin scowled, raising his head to look at the stranger with anger in his eyes. He was ready to punch-

“You weren't looking either.” The person argued, irritation present in his tone. Jimin's anger faltered ever so slightly when his gaze collides with a pair of piercing doe eyes, they flashed first with anger that briefly turned into shock after.

What was Jimin saying again? Right, He was ready to get railed-

Punch! He was ready to punch the stranger! Stop smiling like that!

“Move. I'm in a hurry.” The stranger clipped back, removing his leather jacket and throwing it to the direction of Jimin. His jaw clenched tightly like his fists, and Jimin was about to piss himself in fear. No kidding, the stranger was hot but he was also terrifying.

Jimin is reminded of his pain when he moves, hissing as the jacket collides with his burnt hand. “Ow!”

“Shit.” The man spat out, swerving against Jimin's frame in a run. The stranger doesn't even look back and Jimin was left there with his leather jacket, coffee soaked clothes, and a first degree burn.

Against his better judgement, Jimin was able to scream out a few angry profanities in the direction of the man. He may be handsome but he did accidentally burn Jimin, but that's not the point right now.

“Jerk!” Jimin called out, frowning at his now red skin. “That asshole didn't even say sorry.”

“Shit.” the curse repeats in Jimin's mind, bringing a small blush to his cheeks. Really wasn't the time to be simping over a literal douchebag that did not apologize for bumping into him and burning him.

“My God, Jimin! What the hell happened to you?!” Jin exclaimed in shock, rushing over to help his friend up from where he sat on the concrete. “Is that Jungko- You know what nevermind. Holy shit your hand!”

“I don't have clothes.” Jimin sighed outin frustration, allowing Jin to nurse his hand.

“I have some in my locker, Let's go. Explain later, We're gonna be late.” Jin reprimanded, grabbing Jimin's bag with his free hand and accompanying him towards the Campus.

It was too late for Jimin to dwell on what had just happened, Besides he had other more important things to worry about.

Being at the top of the list has always granted immunity to the whole gang, Jungkook liked to take pride and believe that he and his Ace's trained well enough in comparison to others.

Ace of Spades have been on top of all other groups of gang's since late December, the frequency between fights have raised drastically as groups from left and right kept trying to get into a gang fight with them in an attempt to kick them out of their spot at the top. None of them succeeded of course, but it doesn't mean that Jungkook doesn't get bored with it.

Jungkook was a rich heir, His power as a member of the Ace of Spades blurs in comparison to how much power he held from his parents money and his last name. He was feared for two reasons, something he wasn't fond of boasting about. When he arrives at their underground location Namjoon had texted him, He already turns into an even more sour mood by the sounds being emitted from inside.

Surely enough, He's greeted with the sight of his gang members struggling to get the upper hand as they were outnumbered. Jungkook rolls his eyes, Typical for the other gang to bring more members. After all, their dicks were smaller than the size of Jungkook's pinky. Cowards.

When Taehyung sees him entering the room with his hands casually shoved into his pocket, he makes no time to call Jungkook out. “Jungkook! Where the fuck have you been?!”

Jungkook shrugs, walking over to dodge a random punch thrown his way even before he could reach his gang from the middle of the room. Another one launches at him, Jungkook snapping in annoyance.

“Fucker.” He growled out grappling out to hold a firm choke on a guys neck before punching him square in the face.

The man stumbles backward as Jungkook punches the next guy who attacks him,  It was too easy that he already had five men toppled over on the floor with their bloody faces staining the concrete.

“There was an accident.” Jungkook explained, “I got held up.”

In his distraction from explaining, A punch lands on his face by suprise. Hitting him square in the jaw, the pain doesn't even register as Jungkook seethed in anger. “I was fucking talking, Asshole!” He spat towards his attacker, grabbing him roughly by his hair and pulling his head down harshly to collide with the Raven's knee. The male trips over the floor, stumbling backwards.

Jungkook scoffed, wiping the blood from his bottom lip with the back of his hands and spitting it out in distaste. He hears Taehyung's soft chortling in the background.

“You're in a foul mood.” Namjoon grunted, finishing off the last of the members included in the gang fight.

“S'cause I am.” Jungkook clipped shortly, pulling out a cigarette from his pocket.  “You didn't have to call me for this, You guys could have handled it.”

“Nah, We needed your pretty face to get punched.” Yoongi added, laughing at Jungkook's death glare.

A.O.S. have decided against having power play inside the gang, They believed that having privileges' like leaders will only hinder their relationship during disagreements. Authority would be something that would complicate things, yet they still treat Jungkook like one. They refuse to join or do anything against the latter's will, defending themselves by saying Jungkook was the first one to create the gang and therefore he should have privileges'.

“I bumped into someone.” Jungkook continued, snatching the lighter Jaebum was holding. “Spilled his coffee on him.”

“Please tell me you said sorry.” Yugyeom reprimands from behind him, raising a brow when Jungkook looks away.

“Oh my fucking God, You didn't?!” Bambam screeched out in distress, slapping a hand over his forehead.

“Was it atleast cold coffee?” Taehyung asked, Jungkook blows out the smoke he inhaled and shrugs again.

“He was hot.”

“Idiot! The coffee not the person you bumped into!” Taehyung cackled out, joining the others as they laugh in unison.

“Motherfucker made Jeon Jungkook a poet."

"Shut up Jackson!" Jungkook snaps, throwing jis cigarette on the floor and putting it out by stepping on it.

“The coffee was hot.” Jungkook scowled, as his members we're still in the fit of silent laughter.

“Well, You don't see this side of Jungkook everyday.” Namjoon says, Slightly tired as he was crouching down with his hands on his knees.

“Old man.” Yoongi teased, while trying to catch his breath as well. Namjoon passes him his middle finger with a chuckle.

“Didn't he get mad at you for spilling coffee on him?” Jungkook sighs and cracks his knuckles before standing up straight again.

“He did.” He tilts his head back to stretch a little, hearing the small satisfying crack. “Cursed out 'fuck' which he continued by 'you'.”

The others start laughing hysterically, He sure had the humor in him.

“He doesn't know you, then?”

“Nah. He looks new.” Jungkook replied shortly, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Is he pretty enough for you to bed him?”
Jungkook stills at Yoongi's comment.

“Nope.” he says, popping the 'p'. He was pretty enough for Jungkook to fall head over heals for. Guess that's something he'd have to constantly be looking out for, too.

“We should go back to campus, Orientation's already started.” Jackson called out, grabbing his backpack from the floor and dusting his shoulder off.

“Says who?” Yugyeom whined out.

“Says me. Let's go, monkey face.”

Taehyung laughed at their playful banter, jogging towards Jungkook. “Hey! Let me ride!”

Jungkook sticks his tongue out and kicks his foot over his motorcycle. He quickly turns the engine on and swerves out of the area. Taehyung runs after him with a frown on his face.

"Oy! Jungkook!" He hears Namjoon shout when he speeds off to the school. Taehyung didn't need the ride, He had his own motorbike back at their headquarters at school. He just chose not to bring it. They would fit though, Jungkook counted 6 bikes outside of the underground location.

They'll be fine.

He doesn't glance back nor wait for them knowing they would follow anyways. It was a short trip to Campus, Jungkook could hear the loud booming of the mic from the gymnasium. He yawns in boredom as he checked his wrist watch, They were 25  minutes late.

He hears loud revving behind him and immediately hops off of his bike and starts walking towards campus. He doesn't have to look behind him to know that the Ace's were following him in. Taehyung slides beside him with a lollipop shoved in his mouth. Jungkook continues inside, picking his nails in boredom.

The hallways we're empty, it was silent too save for the chattering of his gang behind him. Jungkook imagined they look intimidating since when they enter the Gym almost everyone looks back at them in curiosity, save for the professor discussing on top of the platform.

N.Y.U. was a campus known for their advanced curriculum, not much for the peace and orderliness of the students. Aside from their security being pathetic, Namjoon was the son of the owner of the university. Just that fact makes A.O.S even more untouchable than they already are.

Jungkook rolls his eyes when he hears squealing from all areas of the gym, The proctor in front desperately asking them to quiet down. He locks his gaze on the bleachers and signals his friend's to go there.

“They're so cool!”

“Omg, they must have came from a fight!”

“They're so hot!”

How noisy. Jungkook thought, striding towards the bleachers lazily and finding a seat after. He slouches and leans back with his arm propped up lazily by the upper seats.

“Boringgg.” He hears Yoongi call out under his breath.

Jungkook agrees, The orientation was boring since they've been in the university for almost 3 years already. The discussion was not anything they didn't know of anymore at this point.

“Isn't that your jacket?” Jackson asked, tapping Jungkook by the shoulder and pointing at the small lump of blond hair sticking out at the near back of the Gym.

Jungkook raises his eyebrows in shock as he singles out on the man he had hit awhile ago. Jungkook's jacket was carefully tucked under his left hand, He was wearing a white shirt in contrast to the dark blue cardigan he was wearing that morning. The shirt looked big on him, and Jungkook assumed it was his friend's clothes as the person beside the blond was whispering to him and laughing after.

“Yeah.” Jungkook replies to Jackson, glancing at Namjoon who had just bought two bottles of water from the canteen.  He snatches one of them and is satisfied when he feels it's almost ice cold.

“Hey!” Namjoon yelled out in shock, Jungkook smiles at him cheekily and hops off of the bleachers. He starts walking towards the blonde with his lips pressed together tightly.

The first person to notice his approach was the tall brunet beside him, tapping the blond's shoulder and pointing at Jungkook's form that was closing in on them.

His eyes widen when he sees the Raven haired come closer and stop a few inches away from him. Jungkook hears loud whispering behind him from the crowd but he ignores is, reaching over to give the blonde the ice cold water bottle.

“W-what?” he squeaked out in confusion,

“Take it.” Jungkook asserted, the blonde immediately reaching forward in fear to grab the water bottle.

“For your burn.” Jungkook explained, when Jimin looks at him in confusion.

“T-Thank you. Your jacket-” he raised the leather from his hands and Jungkook shakes his head, no.

“Keep it.” Jungkook coughed out, looking away. “Sorry for bumping into you.” he apologized, quickly turning his heel and walking away from the person's stunned figure.

“Jimin, how do you know Jeon Jungkook?!” he heard the brunet scream from behind him.

He suppresses a smile; JiminWhat a pretty name.

Jungkook looks at his members from where he stood near the exit, and tilts his head. They seem to get the message and immediately sprint towards Jungkook and the exit.

“What was that dude?” Taehyung laughed out, throwing an arm over Jungkook's shoulder.

“An apology.”
