I can’t go back. I can’t go back. I have to go back. I have nowhere else to go. He knows. He knows I was there. He probably knows where I am now. He always knows. Not going back will just prolong the inevitable. Going back will speed up the inevitable.
All of these thoughts were buzzing through Hunter’s head nonstop as he ran through the forest, half of him searching for somewhere to go, the other trying to process everything that just happened.
It was all too much for him to take in. He closed his eyes for a few seconds too long and fell face-first into the dirt. After he recovered, he turned around and realized that he tripped over the Owl Lady’s small-overgrown dog-rat-demon thing.
“Watch where the fuck you’re going! I don't have time to be…” He trailed off after looking at him and realizing how scared he looked. And was he.. shaking?
“Come on, it went this way! We can’t let the titan get away!”
Upon hearing this, he ran behind Hunter with a scared yelp.
“Are they looking for you? Are you-,“ He hesitated for a moment “Are you the last titan?”
King appeared to be on the verge of tears. All he could think to say was,
“You're not going to turn me in, are you?”
“Usually I would, but I'm not sure what my uncle will do to me if I go back there. Especially to tell him that the titan who he’s supposedly in contact with has been right in front of him this whole time. I'm not even surprised that he was lying about this as well.”
Hunter looked at King and decided that titan or not, he's still just a kid. A scared kid that's currently being hunted by the emperor for his blood.
“I’m also looking for somewhere to hide from the emperor, so, I guess you could come with me. If you want” His eyes lit up at that, and he replied,
“Fine. If you want me to travel with you that badly, I can tolerate having you as my servant forever.” and promptly ran in the opposite direction than the voices.
“Wha- wait that's not what I offered,” Hunter replied, and ran after him.
Maybe, just maybe they can actually do this.
