Work Text:
Theo internally cursed Liam and his boyfriend Donnie, when he saw the guy approaching the Beta’s front door. He watched him ring the bell, a smug smirk already forming on his stupid face. God, Theo wanted him to disappear and never come back.
He hated the weekends. Donnie would always come over exactly at 8 o’clock in the evening, and around 11 PM, Theo could already hear wet claps echoing from Liam’s room that was directly above the driveway. Theo had to drive away somewhere else, instead of getting some nice sleep. He would drive around town, wondering if he should just leave for good. He was tired of residing in his truck, in Liam’s driveway, and being a burden to him and his parents. He hated having to drive aimlessly every Friday or Saturday night and waste gas just because Liam and Donnie wanted to have a good fuck. Fucking sick fucks.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when Donnie glanced his way. The guy flashed him a smug grin and raised a hand. “What’s up, man?”
Theo nodded his head, not even trying to hide his annoyance at this point. “’Sup.” He deadpanned. Thankfully, the awkward greeting was cut short by the door opening, and there stood Liam in his sweats and a towel around his neck.
“Hey,” he gave his boyfriend a dopey smile before kissing him.
“Hey baby.” Donnie made his voice sound deeper and Theo barely kept himself together at the ridiculousness of it.
Before they went inside the house, Liam shot Theo a glance. “Hi.” He awkwardly mouthed and smiled, and then closed the door behind them.
Theo sighed and bumped his head on the steering wheel. He checked the time to see when’s he gonna have to leave the house to spare himself from the lewd noises. You’d wonder why he waited and didn’t leave right away. Well, the first and main reason was saving gas, obviously. But the second reason was the instances when they never ended up having sex and argued instead. Theo would hear them shout, and he really couldn’t help but worry that they would get physical and not in the good way.
Just like today. Soon enough, Theo started hearing Donnie’s voice getting louder, to the point where he could clearly make up everything he was saying.
“Where the fuck is it, huh?!” Then there were thuds and crashes as if they were breaking stuff. “Tell me where it is!”
“No!” He could hear Liam’s thinner voice. “Stop, please! It’s nothing! I told you it was nothing! I wasn’t trying anything!” He hiccupped. Theo tensed when he realized he was crying.
“Yeah?! Well how about we make sure it never happens again, just in case, yeah?!” Donnie snarled, and the next thing Theo knew, Liam’s lacrosse stick was flying out of the window, snapped in half. He hated that Liam was home alone with that nutjob. He wished he could do something, anything. But he couldn’t. Not unless he heard Donnie lay a hand on Liam. And God forbid he ever did. It wouldn’t end well for any of them.
A few shouts later, there was stomping on the stairs and the front door flew open. Donnie was slipping his shoes on angrily, all the while Liam watched him with puffy red eyes and a defeated look on his face. “Donnie – “
“Shut the fuck up, bitch.” He snapped before dashing out of the house.
Liam stood there, watching him walk away with tears running down his cheeks. Theo swallowed thickly and diverted his eyes away from the crying boy. Instead, they landed on the broken lacrosse stick that was on the ground right next to his car. Theo opened the door and picked it up. “Want me to fix it for you?” he locked eyes with Liam.
The Beta approached him and slowly plucked the lacrosse stick out of his hands. “Gimme that.” He rasped.
“Are you o– Do you need anything?” Theo quickly corrected himself before asking the stupid question he already knew the answer to.
Liam’s lips got wobbly at the question. He gripped at the broken stick. “Yeah. I need someone to talk to.” He choked. “Someone that’s not gonna tell me to just ‘leave him’ like Mason does.”
Theo looked over his shoulder and sighed. Mason was right, though. That was exactly what he needed to do. But Theo understood, in a way. You can’t just give up on someone you love. You wanna be there for them, to see them smile and be happy. Theo never had anyone, but somehow, he just knew these things. Not that he was in love with someone, or anything…
“Wanna go drive around town?” He suggested. Liam looked up at him with those teary blue eyes, and Theo’s breath hitched in his throat. He had such beautiful eyes. They were even more beautiful when he cried.
“Yeah. I do.”
So, they got inside the car and went for a late-night cruise. Theo was driving around aimlessly, of course staying away from where Donnie lived. He glanced at Liam every now and then, but didn’t dare asking him anything. Until he eventually started talking.
“Did you hear everything?” He mumbled in embarrassment.
And Theo wasn’t going to lie to him. “I heard most of it. I’m sorry that happened to you.”
Liam shook his head with a deep exhale. “Yeah, well. It is what it is. I just… I didn’t do anything wrong.” His voice cracked, and Theo turned to check if he was about to cry. He hated having people cry around him, he didn’t know what to do. “Donnie was at my lacrosse game earlier today. And some girl, I don’t even know her – she winks at me. And like, I found it funny ‘cause she was like probably fourteen or fifteen – and I just chuckled, y’know? ‘Cause it’s fucking funny.” Liam got louder; he was frustrated. “And Donnie apparently saw that little moment. And he came over tonight… as you know. And-”
Theo’s brows bunched up. “… Go on.”
“It’s embarrassing.”
“It’s fine.” He reassured.
“So, uh… We’re making out, and, like… He slaps me. And I’m thinking: okay, maybe he’s just getting kinky today. But then he slaps me again, and he tells me that ‘I need to learn how to keep my whore face straight’ … And when I asked him what that meant, he got even angrier. Then he called me a sick fuck that flirts with kids. He was cussing me out and he was threatening me. Then he told me to ‘know my place’ and to ‘keep whoring and see what happens’. The next thing I knew, he was getting up and full-on shouting, suddenly set on getting rid of my lacrosse equipment. So that stupid lacrosse stick was the least damaged thing… Donnie stole my lacrosse apparel. The only thing I have left is my helmet.” Liam’s voice was trembling.
Theo gripped at his steering wheel. Liam didn’t deserve this. He got called all sorts of profanities and he did nothing wrong. Theo didn’t know what to do or what to say. Fuck. “Who the fuck names their kid Donnie?” He scoffed, and that made Liam laugh.
Fuck, okay. He made him smile, at least.
The Beta wiped the tears from previously crying as he laughed. “His name is Donald, actually.”
“Donald?” Theo deadpanned and Liam nodded, a grin stretching on his mouth again. Theo let out a confused laugh. “I can’t believe you’re weeping over a fucking Donald.” They both laughed.
“Yeah? Would you rather if I cried over a Theodore?” Liam playfully teased, but Theo felt his heart skip a beat at the thought of Liam crying over him. Where was this even coming from, anyways? Theo wondered if Liam thought of him as more than just a friend. Wondered if it could be him instead of Donnie.
“You’d never cry over a Theodore.” He uttered; voice shaky from embarrassment but at the same time firm with reassurance. Liam’s smile fell, but not completely, and then he was staring at Theo, who didn’t dare to look back at him.
A few days passed after that incident, and everything was back to normal. Donnie apologized and gave Liam his lacrosse equipment back. He even bought him a new lacrosse stick. Theo would’ve thought of it as a cute gesture if he didn’t know how big of a piece of shit Donnie was. Well, Liam was happy, and it was his relationship after all.
It was a Wednesday night when Liam invited Theo over to play some video games.
“Oh, give me a fucking break!” Theo groaned, turning to glare at Liam, who was fist pumping. “You’re a cheat.” He pointed a finger at the Beta accusingly.
“Nuh-uh! You just suck ass.” Liam sassed. They continued bickering about who was right and who was wrong, until they were cut off by Liam’s phone ringing.
By the stunned expression on Liam’s face, Theo could already tell who it was. “Go on, I’ll be quiet and act like I’m not here.” He scoffed. He couldn’t help the uneasy feeling in his chest.
Liam nodded hesitantly before getting up and answering the call. “Hey, babe.” He murmured. He was quiet for a minute or so, and then the voice on the phone became louder. Theo let out a deep sigh. “I’m not.” Liam stuttered. “Donnie, stop. No, I am not! We’re just – we’re gaming! It’s nothing!”
Oh.
It was about Theo being there. His head snapped back to look at Liam. The Beta had his jaw clenched, legs shifting as he kept glancing Theo’s way uncomfortably. It was times such as this when Theo wanted to go back to his villain era. Ripping someone’s throat sounded too good at the moment.
“Shut the fuck up, Donnie! Don’t call me that!” Liam held back tears. He stayed on the call for a few more seconds, before he hung up on his boyfriend. The boy was visibly shaking while staring at the phone he threw on the bed. “Motherfucker.” He sobbed.
“What did he say?” Theo asked warily.
“Fuck you, Theo!” Liam whimpered. He angrily wiped the wetness off his eyes, before sitting down next to the Chimera. “I’m sorry… He-“
“He’s mad that I’m here. He thinks you’re cheating.” Theo asserted knowingly.
Liam kept quiet as he sat down next to him, giving him a sultry look through his lashes.
Fuck. Was he trying to cheat? Theo tensed up, unable to break eye contact. How could he? How could he say no to those bedroom eyes? How could he resist?
A few moments passed in silence, the two never breaking eye contact. Theo could’ve sworn Liam was trying to seduce him. And it was working. I was like he put a spell on Theo. God, he didn’t even know he was into guys up until then. But Theo quickly remembered that it was no time to get in the mood because Liam was upset and tearing up just a few minutes ago.
“You said ‘don’t call me that’. Wha-“
“He called me a whore.” Liam cut him off with a low seductive voice. “Am I a whore, Theo?” Theo’s mouth gaped, having him almost drool. Liam’s eyes landed on Theo’s knee, and then his hand followed suit. He gave it a firm squeeze. “You seem uncomfortable… Do I make you nervous, Theo?”
The combination of Liam’s submissive look and his flirty voice, and God, that hand on Theo’s knee. It was all too much for him. And the words the Beta was saying, they went straight to Theo’s dick.
“You do.” He breathed. “You do, but you need to stop.” Theo swallowed thickly. Liam looked slightly taken aback, but more so embarrassed. His hand swiftly moved away from Theo’s knee, and he looked down at his feet.
Liam muttered a quiet “sorry”, and Theo shook his head.
“So, you know then.” Theo’s voice was strained as he slowly nodded his head. “You knew I liked you.”
Liam looked further away from him in attempt to mask the redness on his face. “And you knew the feeling is mutual.”
Theo bit his lip. It took him everything trying not to grab Liam’s pretty face and kiss him endlessly. “I did.” He muttered. “I do. But you’re with him. You’re his.”
“I am.” Liam finally looked at him. “I wish it was you instead of him.”
They looked at each other knowingly. These confessions would stay locked up in that room and probably never get mentioned by neither of them ever again. And the two of them knew they wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. They were going to go back to their everyday lives, and act like that night never happened. Liam would go back to Donnie, and Theo would go back to his car in that damned driveway.
God, Theo didn’t want things to be like they were. He wanted to treat Liam right, to treat him like he deserved. “Leave him.” He pleaded. “For fucks sake, Liam. Fucking leave him.” He reached for Liam’s hand and brought it to his lips. The boy watched him kiss the back of his hand repeatedly. “He doesn’t deserve you.” Theo murmured against the soft flesh.
“I can’t… You know I can’t…”
And Theo was right. That night was soon forgotten like it never happened. They both went back to normal, acting like they didn’t insanely crave each other.
But Theo wasn’t about to let go of the fact that Donnie was abusive towards Liam. One day, he drove down to the school and parked in front of the entrance. He sat there in his car, watching students pass by, getting in and out of the building. He saw Liam and Mason get out and head to the lacrosse field, engaged in an intense conversation, probably about history or something of that sort. But it wasn’t Liam that Theo was waiting for. It was the dark-haired cocky prick in a basketball jersey that exited the school shortly after. Theo’s jaw tightened at the sight of Donnie. He was with a few dudes, most likely members of the team, and they were all in a jolly mood. Theo started his car and drove up to the sidewalk where Donnie was walking. All eyes were on him, and Donnie’s lips stretched in a smug smirk.
“You need a ride home?” Theo flashed him a grin, and they both knew how fake it really was.
Donnie looked down at his feet and chuckled before looking back at Theo. “You want my number too?” He winked. Theo put on his signature heartthrob smirk as he opened the door to the passenger seat for Donnie. The boy eyed Theo up and down bitterly. “I’ll see y’all tomorrow.” He nodded at his friends before hopping in.
Theo immediately drove off and didn’t say a word as he aimlessly took random turns.
“You got a fucking problem, pal?” Donnie sneered as he lit up a cigarette. Theo smirked. “The fuck you want?”
“Oh, you know what I want.”
Donnie scoffed and spread his legs comfortably before turning to look at Theo. “Yeah. You want a piece of my boy’s ass, huh?” He chuckled. “I would too if I was you. And thank God I’m not you. You know why?” he got closer to Theo’s ear. “’Cause I’d be missing out on his delicious little bitchy moans and breathless pleads. And his tightness… Oh boy. I bet you think about him a lot, huh? You jerk off to the thought of him?” Donnie nodded his head, glaring wide eyed. “Yeah, you do. I bet you just got horny only by hearing me talk about how is in bed.” He let out a snigger.
Theo’s smirk got wider. That fucker was insane, but he was nothing compared to Theo. Nothing compared to him or what he’s been through. “You know, if you weren’t such a worthless piece of garbage, I’d say we’re pretty similar. But I’ll never be you, you know why? Because I’ll never be selfish like you are. And I’ll certainly never be that fucking dumb.” Theo turned to glance in Donnie’s direction. “Now how about I tell you why I came here. Yeah?” He nodded his head. “You either get your act together and start treating Liam like he deserves, or you fucking run. You fucking run as far away as you can before I hunt your ass down and eat you alive.”
Donnie let out a roar of laugher. “Oh man! Oh man. So that’s what it is. You wanna fight.” He took a long drag of his cigarette. “Fuck, you wanna fight for my boy?”
“Not really. ‘Cause that wouldn’t be a fair fight.” Theo’s eyes turned a glowing gold, and Donnie’s grin fell. Theo huffed a chuckle. “Oh, man… Liam never told you, did he?” He let his fangs grow to further scare the shit out of Donnie. The guy swallowed thickly, cigarette shaking in his hand. “Well, now that you know I’m also a werewolf… you listen carefully, yeah?” Donnie nodded furiously. “Yeah, that’s right. This is how things are gonna go from now on. You’re gonna be a good boy, you’re gonna be well behaved. I hear you yelling up in Liam’s room one more time and you’re gonna feel my wrath. I don’t wanna see another fucking tear on Liam’s face or you’re dead meat.” Theo stopped the car abruptly in front of Donnie’s house, and got in his face with a growl. “You’re gonna keep quiet about this too. Am I understood?” He patted Donnie’s cheek, as he nodded, sweat dripping from his forehead. “Good. Now scram.” He growled again, and Donnie dashed out of the vehicle.
Several days went by with no incidents. Donnie was calmer than ever and Liam seemed… not unhappy? Theo wouldn’t exactly call it happy either. There were times when Liam would get inside his car and ramble about Donnie changing overnight, but Theo knew better than telling him the truth. He just listened and nodded. Liam would occasionally take his hand and hold it with a warm little smile on his face, and Theo was happy. The only thing he wanted is to see Liam smile, and that was enough for him. He couldn’t ask for more. Having a happy Liam around him was everything to him.
Then Donnie stopped coming over as often. They also started hanging out less than before. But Liam seemed… like he didn’t mind it at all. Theo would hear his phone ring from his room above, and he couldn’t help but use his werewolf hearing to eavesdrop. Donnie would ask Liam to come over and he’d openly decline the invitation. He’d make up poor obvious excuses and Donnie would question him, but Liam would just shrug it off.
One night, Theo was laying in the backseat of his car with a blanket draped over him, ready to sleep. Liam wasn’t home, he was out to see Donnie somewhere. Theo scrolled through his Facebook, when he got a new message from Liam.
It was his current location, and it was somewhere in the middle of a street in Beacon Hills. Theo shot up and immediately climbed into the driver’s seat. As he was starting the car, he prayed that everything was okay, but he was so wrong. When he got there, he saw Liam sat down on the pavement and he looked terrible. Theo scrambled out of his car and ran up to the boy.
“Liam?” He breathed, and as he approached, he noticed that Liam was covered in blood and bruises. “Liam!” Theo got on his knees next to the bleary-eyed Beta. “What- What happened?!” He held his beat up face carefully, analysing all the injuries.
“I broke up with him.” Liam rasped tiredly. “And he beat me up for it.”
Theo saw red. His blood was boiling, and the first instinct was to get up and find the fucker that had the audacity to do this. He started getting up, trying to catch a sniff of Donnie’s foul scent, but Liam’s hand pulled him back down. “Don’t.” He pleaded. “He’s gone. I let him leave before I sent you the message.”
“Why?! Why’d you let him?! I’ll fucking kill him.” Theo spat. “Oh, Liam.” He held Liam’s face again. “Look at what that fucker did to you. Look at what the fuck he did to you.” His voice was strained.
Liam looked into his eyes and smiled weakly. “I’ll heal.” He placed his hands over Theo’s. “Theo, listen, okay? The reason why Donnie beat the shit out of me is because I confessed.” Liam’s watery eyes twinkled as he looked at Theo. “I told him that I can’t be with him when I love someone else.”
Theo froze and his hands turned shaky. “What?” he asked stupidly.
“I didn’t fight back, because I’m guilty, Theo. I’m guilty for loving you.” Liam chuckled nervously, bloody teeth showing. “I love you. And you don’t have to say it back. Not yet or not ever. Just… please take me back home and hold me tonight. It’s all I’ve wanted for the longest time.” The blue-eyed boy confessed, having Theo completely stunned.
Theo thought he died all over again. It felt so unreal picking the bloodied-up boy up from the ground and taking him to the car. It felt unreal driving him back to the house. It felt unreal holding his hand as they walked through the front door. It felt unreal entering Liam’s room at this time of the night. It felt unreal sitting where Liam slept as Theo waited for him to shower. It felt unreal seeing him walk in half naked and completely healed from before. It felt unreal having Liam straddled on Theo’s crotch with nothing but a flimsy towel hanging low on his hips, and fucking finally kissing him.
“Touch me. Please.” Liam whimpered breathlessly while raking his hands through Theo’s hair. “Come on, kiss me like you mean it. I’m yours.” He grinded his hips onto Theo’s crotch, and the Chimera grunted.
“Mine.” He repeated after Liam, voice distant like he was in a trance. Liam smirked and nodded before crashing his lips with Theo’s once again.
Liam’s hand slid down Theo’s firm chest and reached down to the buckle of his belt. Theo’s hands slid smoothly over Liam’s bare thighs, giving them a firm squeeze. He pulled away to speak, their foreheads resting against each other. “Liam… We can’t go any further. Not tonight. Not when your feelings are all mixed up.” He pleaded. Liam shook his head as he pulled Theo’s lower lip with his thumb.
“I’ve wanted this all along. Gosh, Theo. You have no fucking idea.” He whined. “You have no fucking idea how many times I had to bite my tongue to keep myself from moaning your name while I was with Donnie.” Theo let out a shaky breath at the confession. “I've told you before, Theo. I wished it was you instead of him.” Liam started grinding his hips again at a slow pace.
“So, please don’t take this night away from me, baby. You know we’re meant to be.” And that was all it took for Theo to relent. After that, they spent the night making up for all the times they wished they could hold each other. For all the times Theo wished for Liam to be his.
