Chapter Text
【 Star Stream 】, the biggest immersive fantasy-themed multiplayer game of the century. The game that has a 99% sensory reception with visual quality, and immersion program that had caused derealization countless times, the game that started it all.
Once upon a time, Yoo Joonghyuk was the legendary Supreme King of the eSports world. He dominated and took his team to the highest peak of the field, becoming the most sought out professional gamer in the world. However, at the age of twenty five, after leading his team into winning their third Esports World Championship , the uncrowned king of the game world, Yoo Joonghyuk, retired and retreated behind the scenes.
That was until the game 【 Star Stream 】emerged. Developed by the biggest and most popular game company, it became a hit the moment it was put to public.
In fact, there was nothing special or unique about the game. It was the same scenario driven, leveling up theme that has been used again and again. What made people love it was that it was virtual and the immersion level was 90%. It also had the touch of RP-ing, as well as an immaculate syncing perception system. If you fly, you would feel like you are flying. If you die, heh, it would really feel like you are dying.
It was so good that the company was sued multiple times after players experienced derealization one after another.
And as the game world's Supreme King, how could they let Yoo Joonghyuk pass?
The man's fans begged the other to play the game, itching to see their king dominate the game world again. They wanted to see Yoo Joonghyuk occupy the ranking board, like how the man used to in every game he encountered.
Having no other choice, Yoo Joonghyuk, after two years away from the limelight, once again turned on his cameras
Those cameras then became the witness of Yoo Joonghyuk's journey to falling in love in game.
[ Love Scenarios - tls12 ]
Kim Dokja stared at the game capsule in front of him, at the cluster of stars for a logo that resembled Milky Way and recalled the introduction from his friend's novel and his eyes twitched a bit. The smile on the corner of his lips felt particularly fake, and the look on his face looked as if he wanted to smash everything in sight. It was very clear under the bright light.
Good. Very good. Thought Kim Dokja sarcastically through gritted teeth.
He, as an avid reader with a best friend for an author, was not so unfamiliar with the 'transmigration' trope. It was very popular and in fact, although it is a bit of a nonsense and sort of brainless, he had read a lot of them before. It was quite fun, the idea of waking up in another world and then embarking on a journey to truly realize and appreciate the new world that you were in.
Kim Dokja quite liked that trope. However, he liked them only when they were happening inside a novel, not to himself!
Waking up to an entirely new and unfamiliar environment was not as fun and magical as it is in books and novels. He felt nervous, scared and became extremely agitated the moment he realized what was going on . His mood was fluctuating so bad that he almost had a nervous breakdown. He was not like those protagonists who could stay calm despite such experience and it took him almost half an hour to calm down, and another half an hour to accept his situation.
Fortunately for him, it was not completely an unfamiliar world. After probing about, he realized that he seemed to have transmigrated inside one of his friends' earlier novels.
This novel was about Yoo Joonghyuk, a retired professional gamer, who found love inside a game called 'Star Stream' while becoming the top player who occupied the entire ranking board. The novel was entirely about romance and was only for his friend to practice her literature skills on.
It wasn't even completed and was dropped around thirty chapters later.
Sighing in resignation, Kim Dokja pulled open the game capsule and went inside. Soon enough, the capsule lit up and a starry field appeared before him. Suddenly, Kim Dokja felt like he was in another world.
[ Player ‘Dokja’, are you ready? ]
