pretty boys do(n't) fall in love

Summary:

Min Yoongi owns one of South Korea’s most elite and glitzy social clubs, The Pretty Boys Club, and while it’s his job to approve (and often disapprove) new members, it is not his job to put up with the shenanigans that is Park Jimin and Jeon Jeongguk’s blooming romance.

Or, Jimin and Jeongguk apply for the new opening at The Pretty Boys Club and go head to head hoping to catch even more fame and popularity—not feelings.

(formerly titled: the pretty boys club)

Notes:

Hello, you. I see you. All comfortable and cozy, ready to dive into this fic but before you do, I just have something to say. The prologue is from Yoongi’s pov because I really wanted to introduce his character and the club. But this IS a Jikook au, so those two will take over during the first chapter.

Okay, you. I hope you enjoy!

“Old money has been passed down through the generations.

New money has been recently earned.”

CONCEPT TRAILER

full tracklist

When Min Yoongi—sometimes referred to as Seoul’s sugar daddy—steps into the room, an introduction is not needed. His identity is written in the way he walks and how he carries himself. If you don’t know who he is, well you may as well go crawl back under the rock you came out of and fuck yourself. It’s easy really, a quick Naver search will tell you everything you need to know about Min Yoongi and the many buildings he owns.

Min Yoongi is old money. Old money means power, respect, and of course, wealth. Yoongi drowns in that shit like an untrained lifeguard on duty. It runs through him and drips from his veins. Yoongi does not bleed red, he bleeds green and he isn’t cocky about it. He doesn’t need to be. He just… is .

When he isn’t being Seoul’s sugar daddy, a nickname he’s mildly annoyed by, he spends his time taking care of Sugar. Sugar is the name of the white, Siberian cat he adopted about four years ago when he first started his endeavor as a businessman. She’s sassy yet reserved and Yoongi loves her to bits.

“Are you going to behave for the groomer or do I need to remind you why I started bringing you here in the first place?” Yoongi asks as he steps through the front doors of Baby Bear’s Grooming Services . “Hm?”

Sugar turns her head away from him, blinking slowly at the other cats in the waiting room. She always behaves like this, mirroring her dad’s confident nature and looking down at the other cats in the room. She doesn’t mean to be rude, she just is. Sometimes. Not all the time. Okay, maybe about 83% of the time Sugar will hiss at other cats or claw at humans she feels are wasting her time.

“If it isn’t my favorite angel!” A bright voice calls.

Yoongi immediately looks up, locking eyes with Sugar’s favorite groomer, Kim Taehyung.

If Yoongi is Seoul’s sugar daddy, Taehyung is Seoul’s model. Although Taehyung doesn’t believe it, Yoongi’s certain there is no one else on this earth more beautiful than he is. Taehyung is dark chocolate, jazz music, and french kisses. All things Yoongi would be more than happy to indulge in on a daily basis.

“Good morning, hyung-nim,” Taehyung politely greets, his brown curls bouncing as he bows his head.

“Morning.”

Yoongi often tries to play it cool, hoping his obvious as fuck crush on Taehyung doesn’t show, but it always seems to seep through. It’s his actions that give him away. He’s soft on Taehyung and according to the Vice President of The Pretty Boys Club, he’s like water, molding and flowing to Taehyung’s every whim.

“Go on Sugar, I’ll be back before you know it.” Yoongi coos as he hands Sugar to Taehyung.

Taehyung scoops her up, pocketing her in his arms like a very expensive Louis Vuitton wallet. Sure, Yoongi hates the phrase “Seoul’s sugar daddy,” but he’d be more than happy to spoil Taehyung. To cover him with jewels and dress him in bespoken suits. A man can dream.

“I’ll be back this afternoon.” Yoongi promises, rising to his feet.

Taehyung beams, “No worries! I’ll see you then.”

Yoongi wants to say more but he thanks Taehyung with a close-lipped smile. When he steps outside, his assistant/chauffeur/whatever the fuck Yoongi feels like calling him because labels are suffocating, appears on his side. He has a tendency to pop out like a well-trained bunny from a magician’s hat.

“Good morning, sir.”

“Morning Sungmin,” he gives Sungmin a once over, assuring his suit is crisp and his tie straight.

Everyone who associates with Yoongi must look presentable 100% of the time. Yoongi doesn’t tolerate his assistants looking anything less than expensive. He buys their entire work wardrobe, from dress shirts to luxury wristwatches. Sometimes he’ll even refer them to his favorite hairstylists so their hair is exactly how it’s supposed to be. Flawless.

“You have a meeting this morning with the board members,” Sungmin recites as he walks Yoongi to the black Escalade parked on the curb. “You’ll be reviewing a list of new candidates to join The PBC and discussing the Gold Spoon Party.”

Yoongi sighs.

“Lastly, you’re scheduled to attend the Blue Gala at 7 p.m.”

“Fuck,” That completely slipped his mind. “Cancel.” Yoongi waves a hand as he slides into the backseat.

Sungmin gawks at him before climbing into the driver’s seat. “Sir…I’m sorry but you can’t cancel.”

“And why is that?”

Sungmin knows better than to go into a spiel about the importance of the Blue Gala; how politicians, chaebols, celebrities, foreign ambassadors, and investors attend. It’s a ridiculously gaudy networking event but for years, Yoongi’s made it a point to attend. His presence is considered a necessity. He must be there.

Sungmin starts the car, buying himself some time to think.

Yoongi blinks slowly, waiting.

“J–just it would be so last minute, sir. A–and the investors who’re looking forward to your attendance would be u—”

Yoongi snorts. He has plenty of investors and connections. The only reason he attended the gala for so long was because of the publicity it brought during the early stages of the development of The PBC. Attending now is just….a nuisance.

Sungmin understands what Yoongi’s snort translates into: “shut up and drive.” So he drives off, keeping both hands steady on the steering wheel.

⋆ ⋆ ⋆

Unlike the highrises that line the streets of Seoul, Yoongi opted for a four-story building in Gangnam for The Pretty Boys Club. On the outside, PBC looks like any other glass building that shines like champagne glasses under the moonlight, but the moment members and guests step inside they’re welcomed into its glamorous embrace.

When Yoongi steps through the automatic glass doors, employees dressed in crisp slacks and pencil skirts greet him. He flashes them a closed-lip smile that pulls his lips down as he walks across the marbled floor.

The first floor, known as Yin & Yang because of its black and white decor, houses the lobby for members to check in, a resting area, and a dining room for members to enjoy a meal by a five-star chef. To reach the second floor, members must have a specially made ID with their PBC member ID number and ranking. You see…members aren’t just members at PBC. The higher your ranking, the more benefits you receive such as early invitations to exclusive events, luxury gift bags and so much more.

Yoongi thinks he should be doing more. He wants to assure that each member feels special as well as give them incentives to invest more in his social club. Members who are ranked number one become part of what‘s referred to as the Isabella’s Islay status and are not only financially invested in PBC but also attend and volunteer to host events. They’re the best of the best. The richest of the richest. To become part of this status, members must pay a fee of ₩200 million.

Yoongi flashes his ID before pressing the golden elevator button. A moment later, the doors open and he steps inside. Even the elevator boasts the PBC logo and branding—gold and white lettering. White tile and gold accents with just the right amount of purple and silver to make everything… pop .

Sungmin who had followed him inside clears his throat.

Yoongi peeks at him from his peripheral.

“Will you inform the board members of your decision to not attend the Blue Gala?"

Poor thing , Yoongi thinks to himself, his voice is shaking .

"Sungmin…."

"Y–yes?!"

He turns toward him, keeping his voice cool as the elevator goes up to the fourth floor known as Lavendar, "Do I make you nervous?"

"Sir?"

Yoongi shrugs haphazardly, "If so…I do apologize." He never intends to be vile unless the person on the receiving end of his anger is deserving of it. Sungmin is awkward and clumsy, but he gets the job done and after two years as Yoongi’s assistant, he knows Yoongi like the back of his hand. He’s a good kid.

Sungmin gawks at him, his freckled face twisting with shock, but he manages to recover and bows deeply, "Frankly speaking, you do make me a little nervous but I'm not afraid of you or what you could do to me if I overstep, ahaha."

Yoongi grins, deciding to not entertain the possible mafia-related fantasies running through Sungmin's mind. "One more thing…"

"Yes?"

The elevator doors open with a ding.

"I thought I told you to call me, Yoongi."

The Lavender floor, unlike the other floors, is specifically reserved for PBC board members and their assistants. Security guards stand outside the elevator doors, ready to tackle anyone that doesn't look like Yoongi and his crew. Still somewhat dazed, Sungmin stumbles out of the elevator, following Yoongi down the long hallway.

Yoongi adores this floor because of the priceless artwork that hangs from the walls and the sophistication it exudes. The social media manager Yoongi hired does an excellent job of teasing this floor to the public by posting close-up shots of the decor with enticing captions.

“Take a look at the exquisite kitchen and dining area and the leather couches that await you at The PBC. By becoming a member, you can get a taste of such luxury.”

Yeah, she’s totally getting a raise.

Yoongi twists the crystal doorknob to the board room, pushing it open and stepping inside. Three heads swivel his way, one of them belonging to Kim Heesun who greets him with a salute, “The king has graced us with his presence.” She jokes.

Sungmin bows before rushing to take his seat at the long table and Yoongi scoffs softly as he settles in the leather chair at the head of the table. The other two in the room, Kim Seokjin, and Kim Namjoon focus their attention on the short agenda prepared by Heesun’s assistant.

Once Yoongi has an agenda in his hand, he skims over it before looking up at the PowerPoint displayed on the large TV screen.

“Good morning everyone,” Heesun starts. “Shall we get this meeting started at….” She glances at the clock. “9:30 a.m.?”

They all nod, following her lead as The PBC secretary. Yoongi carefully selected his board members from his group of college friends during the early development of PBC. They all met in the Fall of 2017 during an 8 a.m. Business Law class and Yoongi knew they were the ones. Heesun with her attention to detail and business smart confidence. Namjoon with his genius financial brain and Jin who seems to understand every little detail and secret about the business world.

The first item on the agenda is the selection of a new PBC member.

“We had a lot of applications after invitations were sent out,” Heesun proclaims. “35 to be exact.”

Namjoon whistles.

Jin sits up a little straighter in his seat, his sharp brows furrowed in thought.

“I’ve narrowed down that list to 10 and after today we should only be left with two,” Heesun explains. “Since we’re only looking to fill one spot, right?”

Yoongi nods, “We’ll interview those two and begin the review process and then we’ll decide.”

The review process is a two-month-long, very public, time-consuming and competitive endeavor. When Yoongi first founded PBC he wanted each member to have a certain level of desperation and dedication. To test such emotions, he and the others developed this review process. Interviewees become “reviewees” who help put together The Gold Spoon party which takes place on March 31st this year. During the party, Yoongi will announce the new member and a welcome ceremony will follow. Luckily, those who don’t make it into The PBC receive a cash prize for their time and publicity and the fame that always follows.

“Should we get started?” Heesun suggests, using the pointer to click to the next slide.

She clicks through candidate after candidate and they spend an hour discussing which two should move on to the next stage. There are applications from celebrities, influencers, and business people ranging in age, ethnicity, and sex. There are a few that catch Yoongi’s eye but not enough for him to move them onto the interview process. He’s looking for two specific kinds of people, people with a certain fire and desire.

When Heesun clicks for the 9th time, Yoongi nods, and Sungmin scribbles something in his notepad. Heesun clicks to the last candidate and Yoongi nods again.

They narrow down their choices to Park Jimin and Jeon Jeongguk.

“Why these two?” Jin asks as he studies their resumes.

“Jeongguk is the son of the Jeon family. They’ve attended plenty of our events,” Heesun elaborates. “Not to mention they’re the founders of Busan Foundation of The Arts.”

Namjoon nods thoughtfully as he twirls a black pen between his fingers.

“And Park Jimin,” Heesun chuckles. “He’s a force to be reckoned with.”

“I like them,” Yoongi declares, turning to Sungmin. “Schedule a meeting for Thursday morning with them.”

“Yes, si—Yoongi.”

Yoongi gazes at their headshots on the TV, studying that familiar fire in their eyes. It’s not only about what PBC can give them but what they can give to PBC whether it be money, a new audience, or connections. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship.

“Alright, now that we’ve got that settled, let’s move on to the fun part,” Heesun smoothly transitions. “This year we’ll be hosting The Gold Spoon Party at the Han River venue near the Hangang Banpo area. Our members voted and decided on a ‘Glamor Undefined’ theme.”

“What does that mean?” Namjoon questions.

“Let loose!” Heesun exclaims. “Go all out and be free as long as your attire includes something with gold and white.”

Heesun continues explaining the details of the party, from the guest list to the promotion schedule and menu items. The Gold Spoon Party is a huge fucking deal. PBC members are invited and are encouraged to bring a plus one. Reporters, paparazzi, and media gather outside to provide the public with a glimpse of the glamor. Each year the party makes headlines with unexpected appearances and mild drama surrounding the hype built into the event.

After deciding on a schedule for the next meeting, they wrap up around 11:15 a.m. Heesun powers off the TV and stands with her hands on her hips, “Job well done.”

Yoongi smiles softly at her, endeared by her bubbly nature. When he catches Sungmin staring at him, he remembers and says, “I won’t be at the Blue Gala tonight.”

Everyone stills. Heesun twirls a pink strand of hair between her fingers and Namjoon pinches the bridge of his nose.

"You're not going to the gala?" Jin asks, tone calm. Even. Too calm. A second later, he adds, "Well shit, Yoongi thanks for giving us the heads up. We really appreciate it."

"I don't appreciate your sarcasm, hyung." Yoongi replies as he rises from his seat.

"I don't appreciate you dipping out of the gala last minute, so I guess that makes two unappreciative assholes."

"Jin’s cursing," Namjoon grumbles, more to himself than to anyone else. "Baby, you only curse when you’re upset."

"I'm not fucking upset."

"And water isn't wet," Namjoon snaps back before softly apologizing with a touch to Jin’s arm. He refocuses the conversation. "You’re not going to the gala. Okay, fine. As representatives of The PBC should we stop going as well?”

“If you want to. I no longer see a reason to attend since membership enrollment and retainment are up,” Yoongi explains. He turns to Jin with a small smile. “I’m sorry for not discussing this with you all first.”

Jin waves a hand, accepting Yoongi’s apology with a lopsided grin.

“Thank God ,” Heesun cheers, her crop top rising as she thrusts a fist towards the ceiling. “I left my fake smile at home and don’t feel like driving back to get it.”

Yoongi laughs and Namjoon cracks a smile. They all exit the board room on a positive note, drafting up a statement for anyone who asks why they’re not present at the gala tonight. There are more pressing matters to deal with like Sugar’s grooming appointment and Yoongi’s crush on Taehyung.

Namjoon joins him in the elevator, pressing the button for the first floor. When the doors shut, he turns to Yoongi with a knowing grin. Sungmin looks confusedly between them but remains quiet.

“Don’t.” Yoongi says.

“I didn’t say anything.”

“But you’re breathing in my direction.”

Namjoon laughs silently, showing his teeth as he reaches over to squeeze Yoongi’s shoulder, “You almost made my boyfriend pop a blood vessel back there.”

“I know and I’m sorry. I decided this morning it would be pointless to attend.”

Namjoon nudges him in the arm, “You have better things to do, right? Like, failing to hit on your cat’s groomer?”

Yoongi cuts his eyes at him just as the doors open. When he steps outside, he runs into Dara, a PBC member who has a Macallan ranking. Second. Almost there but not quite. Macallan members pay a yearly membership fee of ₩100 million.

She smiles widely at him, showing off the sparkling gems on her canines.

Yoongi smiles back, slightly bowing his head.

"Yoongi!" She exclaims, "Fancy seeing you here."

He continues smiling, the corner of his mouth twitching as the time ticks on. Sugar's waiting for me.

"Are you hosting your exquisite Gold Spoon Party this year?"

"Dara…" Yoongi replies through clenched teeth. "You know how this works. You must wait and check your email for information regarding the party like everyone else."

Dara makes a sound that's a combination of a snicker and a cackle. Yoongi doesn't know what to call it, but in his book it's annoying.

Before Yoongi has a chance to say what’s really on his mind, Namjoon swoops in, sliding a gentle arm around Dara's shoulders. He towers over her like a tree many men and women wish to climb, "Dara-ssi, how lovely it is to see you."

Dara, still somewhat dazed from Namjoon’s appearance, stares up at him in awe.

Namjoon flashes a dimpled smile, the kind of smile that makes the knees of many weak, “I need to talk to you about the bar you own in downtown Gangnam.”

“I hope it’s about how delicious our cocktails are.” She giggles.

“Of course!” Namjoon beams, guiding her towards the lounge area.

Yoongi will have to thank him later as he hurries off to ride back to Baby Bear’s Grooming Services . When he reaches the salon, Taehyung greets him with a sleeping Sugar in his arms.

Yoongi coos at her, oblivious to Taehyung’s soft gaze as Yoongi scoops Sugar out of his arms.

“Was she on her best behavior?” Yoongi asks.

Taehyung blinks, slipping on a small smile, “She was just the sweetest.”

“That’s good to hear.”

They drift into silence as Yoongi holds Sugar and as Taehyung rocks back and forth on his heels, looking as if he has something to say.

“Uhm…”

“Yes?” Yoongi quickly replies. He catches himself, clearing his throat as his cheeks burn. He hopes Taehyung didn’t notice the eagerness in his tone.

Taehyung’s smile broadens, “Would you like to get lunch sometime?” A second later he tacks on, “To talk about Sugar. I noticed the brand of her collar and I have a friend who works at one of the shops.”

Shit . Yoongi’s heart backflips and somersaults in his chest. He just hopes it doesn’t show on his face, “Sure, when were you thinking?”

“I’m usually available around noon or during the weekend, but I’m sure your schedule can get quite hectic.” Taehyung replies.

Sugar awakens with a purr, blinking her big green eyes at Yoongi as he shifts through the calendar in his mind, “How does Saturday afternoon sound?”

“That sounds perfect, Yoongi.”

Yoongi…he called me Yoongi.

Yoongi spends the evening replaying Taehyung’s voice and the sweet, sweet look on his face.

⋆ ⋆ ⋆

Thursday morning and Yoongi rolls out of bed with a groan. His alarm rings, signaling that it’s 6:00 a.m. and time to wake the fuck up. It doesn’t say that but Heesun joked that he should program his Samsung to do so. He has plenty of time to get ready and prepare for the interview with Jimin and Jeongguk. He showers and then drops Sugar off at the Cat DayCare a block from his penthouse. Sungmin arrives at exactly 8:15 a.m., driving Yoongi to The PBC.

“Jeongguk and Jimin will arrive at 9 a.m.,” Sungmin says as he flicks the left turn signal. “I’ve prepared everything in the board room.”

“Thank you, Sungmin.”

When Yoongi steps through the automatic doors, PBC members and staff lingering in the lobby, warmly greet him. There are Dalmore ranked members who mingle with Macallan members. They laugh about something Yoongi isn’t privy to. He doesn’t care what they talk about as long as they remain respectful.

One of the Dalmore members Yoongi can’t remember the name of, stops him, “I need your early morning routine,” Dalmore member gushes. “You have my respect for always waking up so early.”

Yoongi peeks at Sungmin. Who is this? He asks with his eyes.

Yang Jun , Sungmin’s eyebrows rise in response.

Yoong smiles with a slight tilt of his head, “Morning, Jun.”

After engaging in a meaningless conversation with Jun about Western stocks, Yoongi takes the stairs this time, figuring it wouldn’t hurt to get in some extra steps. It’s the little things, right?

“Would you like for me to wait outside?” Sungmin asks once they reach the board room.

Yoongi shakes his head, “Feel free to grab a coffee or something.”

“Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it.”

Just as Sungmin promised, only four chairs remain in the board room; two placed on one side and the other two on the opposite. Yoongi seriously contemplated whether to do a virtual interview or an in-person one, but after discussing it with Jin, he opted for the latter. He gets more out of an in-person interview; body language, mannerisms and knee-jerk reactions that he can study.

The door clicks shut behind Sungmin and Yoongi settles in one of the two chairs on the side of the table to the window. He glances at the clock above the door. 8:45 a.m. He sighs as he slides out his phone. He can easily kill 15 minutes by checking his emails. There are countless emails from interested investors, luxury clothing brands and many more. Yoongi only responds to a few before shutting off his phone and tucking it away.

The clock now reads 8:55 a.m. and the door opens as Sungmin peeps his head inside, “Jimin’s here.”

He’s early.

Yoongi nods, “He can come in.”

Sungmin disappears again.

When the door opens again, the first interviewee steps into the room and Yoongi does a mental double-take. Park Jimin is a stunning blonde—a color many rightfully assume he was born with—who glitters like Chanel and shines like Gucci. He exudes class, sophistication, and mischievousness. It takes Yoongi about .5 seconds to ping him as new money.

“Park Jimin-ssi?”

Jimin smiles, his glossy lips catching Yoongi’s eye, “Yes, It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Yoongi gestures to one of the two seats and Jimin settles in the one on the left. He has perfect posture which accentuates his long legs that seem to go on and on and o—Yoongi abruptly ends this train of thought by flipping to the second page of Jimin’s resume. 25 million followers jump out at him and Yoongi raises an intrigued brow. He’s what people call an influencer, huh?

“We’ll get started in a few minutes,” Yoongi says.

Jimin continues smiling, “Alright.”

Yoongi turns his attention to Jimin’s portfolio, skimming through photos of him in suits and casual fits that complement his figure. He has a very nice figure and a very nice style to match. He knows what works well with his body type. Anyone can start a clothing brand but to have one as successful as Jimin’s, you’d have to be as stylish and as trend-conscious as he is. Yoongi hums thoughtfully as he flips to the second page. He pauses.

Sure enough, his parents are those Parks.

Yoongi faintly remembers meeting The ParksTM at a party a few years back. Jimin’s father is a well-known doctor, and his mother is an A-list celebrity that’s starred in countless award-winning films. He must take after his father with those pillowy lips and long legs. Yoongi ponders. His confidence and striking eyes must be from his mother

When the door creaks open for a second time, Yoongi looks up and Jimin turns in his seat to get a better look at the intruder.

The second interviewee, Jeon Jeongguk is big and pretty—very pretty with his bright purple hair and carefully painted pastel pink nails. He has a boyish face and big eyes that seem to hold stars within them. He walks toward them, thick thighs catching Yoongi and Jimin’s attention. When Jeongguk walks in front of Jimin, Jimin’s gaze drifts to his ass. Yoongi doesn’t miss the way Jimin sucks in his bottom lip, gaze darkening a bit. Yoongi uses the end of a pen to scratch the side of his neck. O h, boy.

Once he’s settled in the seat beside Jimin, Jeongguk turns to him, smiling brightly and Yoongi has half a mind to shield his eyes because wow, what a smile

The awed look on Jimin’s face disappears in an instant and he tilts his head, smiling thinly at Jeongguk, “Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise,” Jeongguk replies.

Yoongi looks between them making a mental note to himself: Both are prone to telling white lies. After writing a few more notes, Yoongi starts by explaining the purpose of the interview and sharing a bit about his background. He closes his padfolio, folding his hands atop it as he asks, “Can you tell me what you know about The Pretty Boys Club?”

Jimin doesn’t hesitate, swooping in with a clean and concise explanation, “Unlike other social clubs, The Pretty Boys Club also known as The PBC or PBC was founded only a few years ago, but has made quite a name for itself throughout South Korea. There are currently 75 members.”

Yoongi nods, his expression remaining neutral.

Jeongguk clears his throat, speaking once Jimin finishes, “As Jimin said, The Pretty Boys Club is an elite social club. To join members must pay a fee but they must also express their dedication to the club by attending and hosting events. The PBC is more than just a social club.”

Yoongi hums, appreciative. Glamor that does more . Yoongi rephrased the slogan numerous times, scribbling out other contenders before finalizing it. Before The PBC, the reputation of social clubs in Seoul was not the greatest and most were lumped with other clubs that scammed their members out of millions of won, but The PBC was different— is different. It had to be different to succeed and grow into Yoongi’s vision.

“Later we’ll be joined by Kim Seokjin, Vice President of The Pretty Boys Club,” Yoongi says. “He’ll talk with you two about the Gold Spoon Party. Any questions?”

They both shake their heads and the interview proceeds.

“Why do you want to join The PBC?”

This time, Jeongguk’s the first to answer, “I have a YouTube channel that’s doing quite well which has earned me several brand deals but I’m looking for something that’s more personally rewarding.”

Jimin shifts in his seat, expression blank but Yoongi can tell that something Jeongguk said bugged him.

“I want to join The Pretty Boys Club because of who I’m becoming. I’m growing into a person that will emulate PBC’s slogan: glamor that does more than just shine and twinkle; the kind of glamor that’s earned its place at the table.”

Yoongi nods, writing the word EARN in big, bold letters. He looks up, directing his attention to Jimin.

Without missing a beat, Jimin says, “I’ll keep it short.”

An amused smirk flickers onto Yoongi’s face but he quickly masks it by clearing his throat.

“I want to join The Pretty Boys Club because my very existence challenges our current society. The club you and your board members founded challenges the idea that social clubs are scams. PBC made headlines because of its generous donations to charities and children’s hospitals. I like the idea of being part of something that exists to challenge others to think broader and more inclusive.” Jimin explains.

Yoongi sees the fire in his eyes and he smiles. He thanks them and as if on cue, Jin steps inside, his dark hair swept back to reveal his wide forehead. He always goes all out on interview days because he likes to set the tone for potential PBC members. See me? This is how you’re expected to look when you walk through our doors.

“Good morning!” Jin greets.

Jimin and Jeongguk immediately stand up, bowing the full 90 degrees.

Jin makes a face, his nose scrunching as he waves a hand. “Sit, sit. Please.”

They do as they’re told, sitting in unison.

“I’m sure you’ve heard of the Gold Spoon Party The PBC hosts every year?” Jin starts.

Jimin and Jeongguk nod.

“Great! You two will work together to put together the annual Gold Spoon Party that will take place on March 31st. ” Jin explains. “You’ll have till March 25th to assure everything is up and running smoothly. The remaining days will be used for final touches. Yoongi and I, as well as the other board members, will be more than happy to help you along the way. We’ll announce which one of you made it into the club the night of the party. You’ll be judged on your problem-solving skills, how you individually promote the party and current PBC members will vote,” Jin explains. “Sounds good?”

Jimin and Jeongguk smile at each other and a sudden chill goes through the room. They then face Yoongi and Jin with a much warmer smile.

 “Sounds great.” Jimin says.

Jeongguk chimes in with, “I’m looking forward to it.”

Judging by the icy smiles they gave each other, they are not looking forward to working together. Yoongi won’t waste his time trying to figure out why.

Notes:

Guess who’s back? Back again? This is a Jikook fic despite the prologue, so the next couple of chapters will be from Jimin and Jeongguk’s pov. I just wanted to introduce Yoongi and The Pretty Boys Club. You can thank Inventing Anna on Netflix for the inspiration behind this au. No one’s getting locked up but I’m hoping to capture some of the social club glamor as depicted in the show. I built a lot of this world based on the research I did around social clubs and created my own rules pertaining to PBC, so I hope you enjoy!

Would you join The Pretty Boys Club?
– with love, won
