Sparks Of Trouble

Summary:

Just a fluffy little blurb I had planned, pre-relationship for these two, but where they both aren't too pleased about those darn Sparker Cards. Also featuring a brief appearance of Maya, trying to be a good wing (wo)man for those two.

Work Text:

Raheem was going to die, Raegan decided, glaring at the garish bright pink paper tacked onto the board outside the Trinity Bakery. She flexed her hands and ground her teeth, reading the words on the card.

I'm active and atheltic, looking for a woman who can keepbup with me... and sometimes take the lead. Big parkour fanatic, so ISO someone who enjoys getting vertical as much as horizontal, if you know what I mean.

She grimaced as she reread the words, thinking back to the last two rather.... eventful encounters with potential Sparker love interests. The first, Juliet, hadn't even been interested in dating, merely looking for a babysitter for her teenaged son. The second had both shocked and not really shocked her, since Vinnie tended to go after any guy who was even remotely attractive and seemed the dominant type. Not that she thought Aiden was attractive, that was just absurd. They were childhood best friends. Besides, there's no way he thought of her that way, was there? She was so lost in her thoughts she nearly jumped out of her skin at the tug to her sleeve, glancing around before down a bit and smiling softly.

"Hey, Maya. What're you doing here?" She asked, kneeling down and giving a quick squeeze to the younger girl's shoulder in greeting. She raised an eyebrow as the usually rather rambunctious girl glanced down at her feet as she scuffed one through the dirt.

"I have something I need to ask Aiden. Have you seen him?" Maya questioned, peering shyly up at her before glancing back down. Raegan's eyebrow shot up as she grabbed her radio, pushing the button down before speaking.

"Hey, Ai? Can you meet me in front of the Trinity Bakery?" She shifted a bit as she waited for a response, not having to wait too long before her radio crackled. "Yeah. Be there in about five minutes." Came the reply. She smiled at Maya and gently nudged her arm, moving her over to the nearby bench so they could sit out of the way and wait. Not five minutes later Aiden came into view, panting and wiping some sweat from his forehead after running the entire way there. He paused as he glanced at the notice board, jaw tensing and eyes flashing. He quickly snatched a pink slip of paper from the board, nearly strangling the paper, as he let out a faint growl at the words.

I'm very active and athletic, looking for someone who is down for a good time... and doesn't mind if I take the lead occasionally. Very flexible and ISO someone who can keep up with me.

Raegan frowned at the reaction, before her eyes widened as she recognized who the person in the picture was supposed to be. That still begged the question of why Aiden was so furious, seeing as he had his own card. Unless he... no, there was no way. Was there, though? He was awfully upset. Raegan frowned and worried her lip between her teeth.

"If you both aren't happy about each other's cards, why don't you guys do something about it?" Maya piped up, ignoring the mortified look Raegan shot her and the inquisitive one Aiden sported.

"I... come again?" Raegan sputtered, voice rising a bit as she felt her face rapidly heating up. She stole a glance at Aiden, her heart hammering wildly at the look on his face. Is he actually... he almost looked as if he was seriously contemplating it! She felt her heart leap up in her throat at that, licking her lips as she nervously chuckled. The chuckle died off as blue grey eyes cut up to meet hers, while Aiden's free hand yanked his own Sparker card off the board. He promptly crumpled both up and tossed them into the small fire going nearby. Raegan felt her heart skip a beat as Aiden took a few confident strides in her direction, looking for all intents like a man on a mission. She let out a shaky breath as she flexed her fingers, fighting the urge to run. Why would she run, anyways? It was Aiden, she wasn't afraid of him, just... very nervous and, oh, God, he was even closer. She sucked in a breath as his hand gently cupped her cheek, closing her eyes as the smell of honey and chamomile that tended to linger around him hit her senses. Seconds later she felt the press of lips against her forehead. She shivered involuntarily at the sensation, eyes fluttering open and she was sure her entire face must be on fire at this point. She glanced up, catching the barely there grin on Aiden's face, unable to help her own small smile in return. He nodded once before going back to the notice board, scribbling something down on a piece of paper before fixing it where their cards had been.

To whom it may concern: Raegan and Aiden are no longer available on Sparker. To Raheem: Don't bother making anymore cards for us. -Aiden and Raegan.

She chewed at her lip as she walked over and read the words, a small smile forming on her face.

"Hmm... maybe I won't murder Raheem over that card, after all." She mused softly, grinning at the amused chuckle Aiden let out next to her.
