Notes:

Day 4 Christmas Movies

Work Text:

Peter’s spidey sense, as you call it, is usually pretty spot on. Now that he’s used to it, he’s able to take it in stride and determine any threats it warns him of. He’s not usually caught off guard. But spidey sense doesn’t work with girlfriends apparently. Which is how he is faced with you and May standing in the kitchen, waiting for him. He’d entered the apartment in plain clothes after a patrol with the suit stashed in his backpack. “Hey, Y/N. What are you doing here?” he asks after he’s recovered from the initial shock of seeing you unexpectedly. He walks over and gives you and May each a kiss on the cheek as you respond, “I figured since you decided to ditch me tonight I’d spend some time with May, you know girls night in.”

He freezes and the hairs on his arms stand on end. Too late spidey sense. He’s already in trouble. He quickly throws his backpack on the couch before returning to the kitchen, remorse written all over his face. “Y/N, I’m so sorry. I completely forgot. With the decathlon practice running late and all that homework from spanish, I was distracted then I got sidetracked by a mugging, and it just slipped my mind. Please forgive me? It won’t happen again!” You let him ramble out an apology and pretend to consider whether you should forgive him before just laughing and pulling him to you. He glances over your shoulder to see that May had vacated the room and relaxes, as he wraps his arms around your waist, burying his face in your neck.

“Oh, spiderman. I can’t stay mad at you, Peter. Just make me a promise?” He nods eagerly and responds, “Anything.” With a kiss to his clothed shoulder, you quietly say, “Just text me next time. I was worried.” Once again, he nods and tightens his grip on you until you pull back, smile on your face once again. “Go clean up, May and I almost have dinner done.” He presses his lips to yours quickly and does as you say, passing May in the doorway before disappearing into his bedroom.

Only moments later, the three of you are seated on the couch, you and Peter a little closer than May prefers, eating spaghetti and watching ‘Frosty the Snowman’. Peter thinks it’s stupid. But when he looks at you and sees that goofy smile lighting up your face as the cartoon snowman sings, he can’t help but enjoy the movie a little more. By the time Frosty is over, you’d all eaten your fill. As the final scene ends, Peter stands and collects all the dirty dishes while May switches the movie to 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’ He stops as he’s depositing the dishes in the sink to be washed in a little bit to look out into the living room. You and May are singing along to the song and laughing at how awful you sound. He flinches a little when May hits a sour note and smiles at the peal of your laughter that fills the room.

You look over your shoulder at him when you realize how long he’s taking and find him watching you with a dopey grin on his face. Waving him back into the room, you pat the seat he’d eaten in, inviting him to rejoin you, and he does. Together the three of you watch the Grinch steal christmas, learn to love, and give it back, laughing and singing to all the songs. As the movie progresses, you and Peter seem drawn to each other. You start next to each other and end up practically on top of each other.

When the movie ends, May decides to go to bed, giving a warning not to stay up all night before disappearing with a “goodnight.” Once her door is closed, you turn to Peter, smiling sweetly. “One more? Pretty please?” you ask, batting your eyes at him. He rolls his eyes playfully and sighs before placing a kiss on the tip of your nose and starting 'Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.’ Happily, you squeal and hug Peter tighter then settle in to watch the movie. Almost half way through the movie, Peter glances down at you. He finds you dead asleep, arms wrapped loosely around his midsection and head on his chest. He smiles at the small smile still resting on your lips as you sleep.

Without jostling you, Peter reaches for his phone, taking a picture. He also texts your mom, letting her know you’re staying over. He sets the picture as his wallpaper and smiles at it for a moment before locking his phone and settling into the couch. He isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Before he closes his eyes, he looks down at you one last time and thinks to himself. This might be what love feels like.
