Chapter Text
Laurie eventually learnt to drain out the thumping music, her ears ringing the longer she hovered besides the speakers. Why she'd let Annie drag her into this mess of a house party, she had no idea. One second she'd been happily studying for her end-of-terms and the next she was being driven to Ben Tramer's house for a 'thrilling' Halloween experience.
Unfortunately, it had turned out quite the opposite of thrilling.
Annie had run off with Paul and his group of goons to liven up the dance floor, leaving shy and reserved Laurie to dawdle and shuffle awkwardly whilst she watched everybody else mingle and chatter.
Over a space of time, she shuffled towards the front door, feeling herself growing stuffy and uncomfortably sweaty in her leather witch costume Annie had bought for her. She fanned her face and turned to leave, squeaking when hands closed around her waist, pulling her tightly back against somebody's chest. "And where do you think you're going?" they asked, voice slurred and thick with the smell of alcohol, causing Laurie to cringe and try desperately to wiggle out of the person's embrace.
!!!!!!!
"Outside." she responded bluntly, growing more and more uncomfortable with each movement of the person's hands and arms, "I want some fresh air." The boy scoffed and simply raised his hand along Laurie's stomach, caressing her body through the tight pleather fabric.
"Don't be a tease, baby," he grinned, leaning in so his breath fanned out over her exposed neck, "I know you want it." Laurie recoiled in disgust, fighting harder against the boy's grip on her body as his hot tongue ran over her pale flesh.
"I already said I want to go outside!" she snapped, clawing desperately at the backs of his hands, "Let me go! Stop touching me!" To her mortification, his hands reached up and gripped her breasts through her costume, rubbing over the covered mounds. "Stop it! Stop it! Get off me!" She felt her throat closing up as her eyes grew heavy with tears. She continued to thrash against him, slamming her hands down on the boy's fists, trying to dig her fingertips between his hands and her skin, attempting to pry out of his hold.
!!!!!!!
"Excuse me, asshole." Both Laurie and the boy ceased all movement, turning to stare at the new voice. Laurie's tears stained her cheeks, leaving silvery trails that shone in the bright, neon lights, "What are you doing to my girlfriend." The girl's eyes widened, staring up at the new stranger. He shot her a look, nonverbally pleading with her to play along. She got the hint.
"Baby!" she cried, taking the opportunity to yank her attacker's hands off her chest and run into the stranger's arms, hugging his waist tightly as she buried her face into his shoulder, "Oh, baby, thank goodness! He was-" The stranger held the back of her head in his palm, his free hand moving to wrap possessively around her waist.
"Hey!" the boy screeched, his voice angry and indignant at being interrupted, "Strode didn't tell me she had a boyfriend! Your bitch practically threw herself at me! I mean, look at her, for god's sake!" The man holding her growled deep in his chest, pulling the shivering girl tighter against himself.
"I think you've had too much to drink." he stated calmly, running his hand through Laurie's champagne coloured locks comfortingly, "And she's not 'my bitch'. She's my girlfriend. Learn some manners before you piss off the wrong people." Laurie shivered and nuzzled her cheek against her saviours shoulder, comfort finally blooming in her chest.
The boy scoffed and turned to walk away, his footsteps loud and obnoxious, "Whatever, dude!" he called back, "She's your problem, not mine!" Finally, the stranger released Laurie from his embrace, holding her forearms in his strong hands.
"Are you alright." he asked, his voice gravelly and strangely devoid of tone, one might even say flat, "I saw what he did. I'm sorry." Laurie sniffled and nodded, looking up into the man's eyes. He sighed and pulled her against his chest, running his hand through her hair as he rubbed her back, allowing her to relax against him again.
She sniffled and nuzzled against the stranger's shoulder, "It was awful," she whispered, hoping he could hear her over the dulled thumping from a few rooms over, "I just wanted to go outside and he grabbed me." He nodded and wiped her tears with his thumb, rubbing her back.
"We can go outside now, if you want." he offered, gesturing toward the open door, "I'll be with you. So don't worry." Somehow, his promise made her feel somewhat safe, so she nodded hesitantly and allowed him to lead her onto the front porch, the cold autumn breeze hitting her so suddenly she was worried her eyes would tear up again just from the chill. "I didn't catch your name." he spoke up, removing his hand from her lower back to lean his crossed arms against the white porch railing.
"Laurie," she replied, listening to the comforting sounds of fluttering leaves and the singing of the late night breeze, "Laurie Strode." He hummed and shuffled closer to her, huffing quietly in contentment when she rested her head on his shoulder. "Thanks for not just standing by or ignoring me, it means a lot." He hummed again and leant his own head atop her's, causing a slight blush to bloom high on her cheeks.
--
Laurie gasped as she sat upright in bed, clutching the thin duvet to her bare chest. Her breaths came out in short, laboured huffs as she tried to calm herself down. Taking in the unfamiliar surroundings of an unknown bedroom, her heartbeat picked up, her eyes scanning the room for any hint of recognition, maybe a table, a lamp or even the door.
Nothing.
She jumped and hid under the duvet when she felt a weight shifting beside her, a deep groan permeating around the dimly lit bedroom. The other person rolled over, slinging their arm over Laurie's thin waist and pulling her back against their naked chest. Not particularly wanting to have an awkward conversation so early in the morning, Laurie pretended to still be asleep, trying desperately to stunt her heavy breaths.
"I know you're awake." She started when the other, now identified as a man, leant close to whisper into her ear, his hot breath caressing over the soft, freckled shell, "We don't have to talk. I prefer it that way." Laurie nodded cautiously and turned in the man's arms, finally facing him head on. She vaguely recognized him; strong jawline, ruffled brown curls, and piercing grey eyes. She'd seen him before, the briefest hint of recognition stirred in the back of her mind.
"I've seen you before," she mumbled, looking away from his gaze when she felt her cheeks growing significantly warmer, "I just don't know where." The man chuckled deep in his throat, pulling her body closer against his chest. Laurie yawned softly, too tired to really fight back at the advances he was currently making on her.
"I'd hope so." he said, "We did just sleep together."
Laurie sat bolt upright, subsequently yanking the man up with her, causing him to groan when his back clicked painfully, "We what?" she asked, her mind racing at a million miles-per-hour. He tilted his head at her, raising a hand to rest on her forearm.
"We slept together. You and I. Last night." Laurie felt herself growing sick to her stomach, her thoughts full of what-ifs and worst case scenarios. Of course the week she'd run out of pills, she'd managed to end up in bed with a guy she didn't even know. "Hey. You alright?" She turned to face him, observing the lines and creases of his face.
"Did you use a condom?" she asked, her voice shaky and uncomfortable asking about the topic. Once again, the brunet only tilted his head in confusion, knitting his thick eyebrows together before opening his mouth to answer, only to close it after no words escaped him, giving him something of a fish out of water look.
"No?" he responded at last, continuing to stare at her with a mixture of confusion and something similar to worry behind his eyes, "You said you were on the pill." Laurie whimpered and held her head in her hands. It was all coming back to her now.
The Halloween party Annie had dragged her to. Her leaving after she'd lost said girl in the crowd. Being harassed by the door. Meeting him. 𝘍𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘮.
"Mike." she said, shaking slightly from the growing pressure on her shoulders, "Your name is Mike. We met at the door." He nodded and pulled the duvet over her shoulders, rubbing them through the thick material to keep her warm. "We talked on the porch and eventually we ended up here." He hummed his agreement, pulling her to his chest.
"So I take it you're not on the pill?" he asked, his eyes flashing with temporary unease, "Is it possible you could get... you know?" Laurie wiped her eyes on the backs of her hands, shivering against the warmth of the duvet and Mike's chest, "I don't know. This was my first time." she admitted, her neck flushing with embarrassment, "I don't think so? At least, I hope not." Her partner nodded his agreement, shuddering at the thought of possibly accidentally ruining this girl's and his own life.
--
Eventually, she and Mike went their separate ways, redressing themselves before sharing an embarrassed, gentle kiss in the deserted corridor, before he exited the party house and her view of sight. Now, all she needed to do was find Annie and hope to god she was fully dressed.
"Annie!" she called, searching through room after room, "Annie Brack- Oh dear lord!" she quickly covered her eyes, flushing down to her chest, "Annie put some clothes on, I'm not driving you home looking like that!" The brunette girl was slouched next to the beaten up leather couch, her shirt and bra thrown off to only god knows where, her bellbottom jeans hanging barely on her hips.
"Mom?" the girl mumbled, reaching a shaky hand up to wipe the trail of drool from her chin, "Mom I swear it's not what it-" she was cut off when Laurie sighed and yanked her to her feet, draping a blanket around her friend's shoulders.
"Yeah, yeah," she grumbled, wrapping an arm around her friend's waist and leading her in the direction of the front door, "you can explain all you want when we're home. Right now, though, we've got to actually get you into the car." Annie giggled quietly and leant her head on the blonde's shoulder,
"You know, mom, you sound different." Annie hummed, poking at Laurie's freckled cheek, "You sound a lot different! Like Laurie!" the blonde gave a defeated sigh, hauling her barely conscious best friend into the passenger seat of her red Cadillac, fixing the blanket over her upper body to conserve her dignity before tightening the seatbelt over the material. Tugging slightly, she concluded it was stable before climbing into the driver's seat, resting her forehead on the steering wheel whilst Annie carelessly babbled on about Paul and Homecoming dances beside her.
"𝘐'𝘮 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘦," she thought, her eyes growing dewy and misty as she recounted the night's events, "𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴!"
