Work Text:
It starts out as a joke during one of their dinners, when they’ve all had a little bit too much to drink, and Loquatius tells them that Patia might be the only person they know that works more than Laerryn.
“You need to leave some room for joy,” He points out with a laugh, debating on whether or not to have another glass of champagne. He wouldn’t have to worry about bags under his eyes, naturally, but he wasn’t looking forward to a raging headache.
“And by joy you mean having sex with everyone who isn’t inside their house by the time you count to three?” Patia replies, one eyebrow raised.
“Please, I have left those times behind me.” He grins, reaching out to rest a hand on top of Laerryn’s. “But I will not deny that I was enjoying myself then, yes.”
“Look, I know he sounds like a douchebag right now,” There’s affection in Laerryn’s voice as she speaks, her thumb rubbing circles into Loquatius’ hand, “But he’s not wrong. It does help to...release the tension every now and then.”
“Absolutely. Preferred locations include either of our desks, the studio...” He pipes up and Laerryn uses her free hand to flick his temple.
“Not the time. What I’m saying is, you can allow yourself some reprieve every now and then. No need to go on dates or get married on the spot.”
“Oh, I’m sure there’s a lot of people who would like to ‘get it on’ with the Keeper of Scrolls just to brag about it.” Patia shakes her head, putting down the empty flute. Her head is buzzing just a little, and it’s becoming harder and harder to find excuses as to why her friends are most definitely wrong. She’s dedicated her whole life to this city, and to preserving its magic, and there’s never been room for much else, but it’s not the first time Patia wonders what would have happened if she had made different choices.
“So come home with us instead.” For a moment she’s not entirely sure she’s heard him right, but Loquatius is looking at her almost expectedly, and when she turns her attention to Laerryn, the other woman is glancing between her and her husband.
“Is that...something you’ve talked about?” She finally asks the two of them, and Loquatius waves his hand through the air.
“Technically not, no, but...we’re all friends, aren’t we? And I’ve always been happy to help people and make their days a little brighter,”
“Oh stop it.” Laerryn tries to swat him, but he catches her hand and places a kiss to the back of it, and it makes her pause. “He’s...right though. We’re all friends, you are my best friend, and if there’s anyone I’d ask to join us in bed, it’s you.”
Maybe it’s the alcohol coursing through her system, but Patia feels a warmth spreading from her chest through her entire body as she looks at the both of them for a moment.
“I’ll...think about it, how does that sound?” She finally manages as she reaches for the bottle of champagne to top off their glasses.
-
And think about it she does.
At first Patia tries to attribute the whole conversation to the champagne, and while it’s certainly had its part in them talking so openly about things, it’s not responsible for putting the thoughts into either of their heads. She’s always been able to appreciate the beauty of her friends, even if it’s been done quietly, but to find herself in bed with them? It’s a thought that’s never occurred to her before.
Truth be told: Nydas and her have come close, always a little flirty and always dancing around each other, but in the end they’ve both been too busy for it, and maybe it’ll be the same here, they’ll all just be too busy to even bring this up again.
To her own surprise, however, Patia finds that she couldn’t have been more wrong.
Loquatius sends her a flashy card with a very inappropriate drawing on it, and she would have been able to ignore it, if it hadn’t been for the message that came through in the form of Laerryn’s voice in her head soon after.
“Sorry about that, he thinks he’s funny, but...the offer does still stand.”
So, Patia goes home and undresses, and then dresses again, and almost leaves the house to be on her way. It’s quite a bit of a walk to her friends’ house, and there’s plenty of time to change her mind, she tells herself, but maybe that’s the problem. Maybe she ought to stop thinking for just a little while, but it’s hard when that’s all she does. She’s always relied on her mind, but right now she’s not entirely sure if it’s very helpful.
“Oh stop it.” She mutters, and then snaps her fingers, feeling the familiar push and pull of the teleport spell take effect before the ground beneath her feet becomes solid once more. She knocks on the door before she can change her mind again, and after a little while, Loquatius appears, dressed in a golden robe.
“Well, that’s a pleasant surprise. We thought you’d changed your mind.” His smile is bright, but honest nevertheless, as he steps aside to let her in, and it takes Patia a moment to realize that it’s nearly midnight.
“My apologies, if the timing isn’t right...” She begins, but he waves his hand at her.
“Don’t worry about it, we’re up at all sorts of hours. Technically my lovely wife does not sleep at all, which makes for interesting...”
“Don’t finish that sentence, Quay.” Laerryn steps in, leaning against the doorframe in her purple nightgown. Patia doesn’t think she’s ever seen her in clothes different from her work ones, aside from the occasional dress for festivities, but this? “You look quite beautiful.”
Laerryn’s lips curve into a smile as she reaches for the other woman’s hand to pull her towards the bedroom.
“Oh and the gown will look even better on the floor,” Loquatius comments with a chuckle as he follows them, but both Patia and Laerryn let this one slide as they settle onto the bed.
It’s been a while since she’s indulged in anything like this, always focused on her work and maintaining a public reputation, but there’s something about the way the weight slowly eases off her shoulders now that she’s with her friends, the only people she does not have to pretend with.
“Just relax and let us take care of you, will you?” Laerryn’s voice is soft, her hands gently pulling down the zipper of Patia’s dress before sliding it off her shoulders. She feels the other woman’s lips press against the back of her neck then and shivers at the contact that should have been expected and yet has taken her by surprise. “But you can change your mind at any given time, okay?”
Loquatius kneels beside them, hands coming to help her out of her shoes and Patia audible sighs when he begins rubbing them, applying pressure in just the right places. It’s been a long day of wearing heels and while she’s able to tune out the pain for most of the day, it easily catches up with her now.
“You know,” she finally says, leaning into the other woman, another shiver running down her spine when Laerryn traces her fingers up Patia’s arms. “I didn’t think I’d ever see him on his knees,”
“Oh, he’s very good at that.” Laerryn smiles and she half expects Loquatius to make a witty comment, but instead he simply leans in, pressing a kiss just above her ankle and Patia sighs again.
She can feel thoughts beginning to form in her head, reasons why she shouldn’t be here, but she catches herself before they can become too overwhelming, and instead follows Laerryn’s instructions to lift her hips until her dress is gone, discarded on the floor.
She feels exposed all of a sudden, but it’s not a bad feeling at all. These are her friends, her best friends, and she doesn’t have to worry about anything with them, she can just let go.
And so Patia does.
It’s easy to settle against Laerryn, feeling the other woman’s warmth against her, her back pressing against the other’s chest, while Loquatius crawls up the bed to meet them.
He presses kisses to the inside of her thighs, and it’s distracting enough that she barely notices the way his fingers hook into the waistband of her panties and pull them down before they join her dress on the floor.
“He’s very good at that, too.” Laerryn’s voice carries the smile Patia knows she’s wearing on her lips, breath warm against the other’s skin. She wants to reply, but a moan escapes her instead when she feels Loquatius against her core, putting his mouth to use for something other than talking for once.
“Oh!” She feels Laerryn’s hand grab hers, lips pressed against Patia’s neck, before she guides the hand into his hair.
“He’ll do whatever you want, and sometimes you don’t even have to ask.” Patia’s other hand scrambles to find purchase in the sheets beneath them as her legs fall apart just a little wider.
Loquatius takes that as an invitation and pushes his tongue into her and Patia groans, the hold on his hair tightening.
“That. Do that again...” She mutters, briefly marveling at how easy it is to get him to do things like this. There’s no resistance, no clever comebacks, and Patia thinks she could get used to that.
“Told you so.” Laerryn smiles, hands trailing down the other woman’s chest before she catches a nipple between her fingers and Patia arches into the touch with another moan. She’s never been one to beg, not verbally at least, so she does it silently instead, hips rolling against Loquatius’ mouth for a little more friction while she drops her head back onto her best friend’s shoulder, exposing her neck.
Laerryn takes the hint and trails her lips over the other woman’s skin, feeling the way Patia’s pulse quickens just a little.
“Mhm...” words don’t seem all that important anymore as Loquatius’ tongue is replaced with fingers and Patia moans, pushing herself a little closer to feel his tongue presses against her clit.
It’s easy to give herself a bit of relief every now and then, but it’s an entirely different matter to have no control over the way she shivers as the heat at the base of her spine begins to flare up, turning embers into flames.
“You can let go, we’re here.” Laerryn’s voice is almost soft, and maybe that’s the reason Patia goes so easily, a loud moan drawn from her lips as she rolls her hips against Loquatius’ eagerly while Laerryn’s arm wraps around her to hold her in place.
Everything becomes a little hazy after that, and when Patia comes back to herself, she’s breathing a little harder, her hand still tangled in Loquatius’ hair, with the other woman pressing a kiss to her temple.
Can I... Patia thinks, not even aware that the telepathic bond is up as she tugs on his hair and hears Laerryn’s voice in her head.
Of course. Anything you want. She can’t quite help the smile that forms on her lips as she presses them against Loquatius’. It’s not something she thought she’d ever do, but right here in this moment it feels right, and she can’t help but moan just a little at the taste of herself on his lips.
Her hands slip down and beneath his robe to touch the warm skin there, and she almost loses herself in the kiss, but Laerryn’s hands come to cover hers as they loosen the belt and push the robe off his shoulders.
“I think he should be rewarded for the good work he did, don’t you?” Laerryn asks as she shifts them into the opposite direction until they’re both leaning over him. She steals a quick kiss then, and Patia thinks that, Yes, he absolutely should, as she begins to pull his pants down, discarding them on the floor with the rest of their clothes.
She allows herself a moment to take him in, the way he’s fully hard already, and how she’s the one who’s responsible for it, at least partly.
“If I have died and this is the afterlife, I am not complaining...” Loquatius mutters and Patia smiles, pressing a few kisses to the inside of his thighs before letting her tongue dart out to lick a stripe from the bottom of his cock to the top.
Laerryn seems to have the same idea, meeting her there and for a moment their lips brush against each other.
Patia feels a hand in her hair then, almost tentatively at first, as if to gauge her reaction, but she easily leans into it, closing her lips around the tip of his cock while Laerryn pushes a stand of hair from her face.
He likes it when you go deep. Patia hears the voice in her head and complies, taking in as much as she can for now, eyes fluttering shut. She feels Laerryn’s other hand close around the base of Loquatius’ cock, matching her rhythm, and for a while she’s content just doing this, hearing the small moans and noises that escape him.
Just when she considers whether or not she could take him down her throat, however, she feels a tap on her shoulder and pulls off, eyes opening to look up to where he’s watching them both, pupils blown wide.
“As much as this is my literal dream...I feel compelled to tell the both of you that I won’t be able to hold back much longer if you keep doing that.”
What a shame, Patia thinks, but pulls away to sit on her heels for a moment, watching as Laerryn leans in, pushing another strand of hair from her face. The gesture is gentle, and it causes a spark of warmth settle in her chest. She must look a mess right now, hair all wild and lips red from recent...activities, but strangely, she doesn’t mind at all.
“That’s his way of saying he’d like to fuck either of us.” Laerryn clarifies with a chuckle, and Patia laughs, leaning in to steal a kiss, simply because she can.
“Well...we don’t want to make him wait, do we? I can watch.” She offers as they shift again and Laerryn settles down above him, shaking her head.
“Oh, no need. You can be up there.” She nods to where Loquatius’ is watching them both still and Patia doesn’t need anymore words. She feels the warmth in her chest expand as she mirrors the other woman’s position easily, leaning in for another kiss as they both sink down.
She doesn’t even attempt to hold back this time, instead rolling her hips to meet his tongue, her moans swallowed by the way Laerryn pulls her in for another kiss. She even has time to marvel at how well they fit together, as if they’ve done this a million times, and the thought of this being home in a way is nearly enough to send her over the edge.
Touch me.
“Shit...” Patia’s hand slips between them easily to rub at the other woman’s clit, her other hand blindly reaching for the headboard behind herself so she can hold onto something, anything, as she falls over the edge, thighs shaking.
The kissing doesn’t stop, but it becomes messy as they both groan, feeling Loquatius’ still beneath them. It takes Patia a moment to come back to herself, sliding off him to lean against the pillows.
“Well, without bragging, I’d like to say that this was better than what I’ve imagined.” He chuckles and Patia focuses on him again. He looks positively wrecked, his hair a mess and his lips and chin glistening with her own arousal.
“You know what? I’ll let you have this one,” She chuckles and pulls him in for a kiss, simply because she can, while Laerryn settles in on her other side.
Surely, in a bit she’s going to focus back on her work, but for now Patia’s mind is blissfully empty except for the feeling of her two best friends pressed up against her, and maybe she deserves this little piece of paradise.
“We should probably get cleaned up.” The words are out before she can stop them, and then she can’t help but laugh when Laerryn waves her hand in the air and the magic takes care of her request.
“Don’t think this means we’re done though.” She then says, one hand brushing against Patia’s cheek as she leans in for another kiss.
Oh yes, we’re only just getting started. Loquatius’ voice echoes in her head, and Patia smiles. The warmth in her chest travels through her entire body and she closes her eyes for just a moment, feeling tears stinging in them.
She’s not a very emotional person, or pretends not to be anyway, but there’s something about this that draws all the feelings she’s been hiding so deep within from her very core, and she’s not entirely sure how to deal with that.
“You’re safe here.” Loquatius’ voice is almost too quiet to hear as he speaks, leaning in to catch one of the tears with his lips as it rolls down the side of her cheek.
No masks here. Laerryn thinks and Patia nods as she turns her head, leaning it against the other woman’s.
Just amazing, fantastic, mind-blowing sex. Loquatius then adds and she can’t help but laugh again, hand swatting whatever part of him she can reach.
Still, his arm reaches out and wraps around the both of them, and Patia allows her eyes to drift shut once more.
“Just amazing, fantastic, mind blowing sex,” she then nods, and...love.
Neither of them says the words out loud, but they don’t really have to either, because this right here, a moment of reprieve from the world outside, between her best friends, is enough, at least for now.
Patia’s always been concerned with the future of Avalir, and preserving its past, but maybe it’s not too terrible of her to take a little time for herself in all the chaos that is life, after all neither of them know just how much time they have left.
“Thank you.” She mutters eventually, her voice quiet and her lips curved into a smile still as they both lean in a little closer, pressing their lips against her cheek.
