Summary:

You know that voice in your head that makes you doubt yourself and not like who you are? For this young man, his voice has a body attached to it.

This story sort of relates to More Than a Distraction, particularly one of the characters. That being Senso, Snow Miser's future boyfriend. This story takes place sometime before he and Snow Miser meet.
This is also a bit of a vent in case you couldn't tell already.

Work Text:

Look at yourself.

Look at the pathetic boy before you.

How sad.

"I know."

Senso sat hunched over and stared into his reflection. It was the only mirror he had in his house that he secretly kept to talk to Tensa. Even though it was his tulpa staring back at him, he still had Senso's exact appearance save for the reflective eyes. The face was swollen and blood green from tears he had recently shed. Senso's nose was congested from the emotional turmoil he had just gone through, what he was still going through. Tensa softly smiled in the mirror back at his host.

Look how ugly our face is because of all your crying.

"I see it."

This is all because of you.

"I know."

Can't you say anything else other than a handful of words? Or are you too stupid to do that?

"I can speak just fine."

Then why don't you tell me why you can't keep any friends?

Senso gazed down at his feet when Tensa raised his voice.

Look at me when I'm talking!

Senso's eyes darted back up at the mirror. Tensa glared back and waited for his answer. With a shaky breath, Senso made his statement.

"Because I'm a sad excuse of a sprite. Nobody loves me because I'm a bad person and everything I do is wrong."

That's not true.

Senso's heart lifted a little.

Only one person loves you. Do you know who does?

The light in Senso's eyes faded as he gave his monotone reply.

"You do."

Tensa nodded.

That's right. Who's always been there for you despite all of your mistakes?

Senso's eyes unfocused and drifted down.

"You have."

And who's your only friend in the whole world?

A lump formed in Senso's throat. He didn't want to admit it, but Tensa really made him feel safe despite all of the hurt he goes through. He thought everything Tensa did was for his own good. Senso lowered his head and buried his chin in his arms.

"You are."

Tensa smiled warmly and he placed his hand on the glass.

I always will be.
