Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

"Batman and Robin are off on another mission, this time near home, but I have a mission for you." Red Tornado said, for the 3rd time this week.

"Man, when are they not this week? They're so busy." Kid Flash replied in a snarky tone. The Young Justice league listened as Red Tornado explained the mission, some expressing their opinions on it with kind hand gestures.

"Hey B, what are we doing here, at the coffee shop?" Robin asked. He looked around the room slightly then turned back towards his father, who proudly sat tall.

"Dick remember, we use real names outside of costume. And we're here because I need you to hack the cameras of that building next door. I believe that the human and drug traffickers are using that building as a base." Batman replied, an annoyance lacing his words

"Got it." Dick said, pulling out his computer from a bag he had placed beside him. He supposed he needed to stop zoning out during missions.

"And anyways, B can mean more than one thing dad, like your name starts with a B." Dick replied with a sarcastic tone. Batman laughed at Dick, knowing where Dick got his sarcasm and humor from.

"Got it, there seems to be eighteen floors below ground level and twenty above, making the building have thirty eight floors. Also it seems like the cameras are motion sensors, so they don't turn on unless someone without authorization walks by." Robin said, low enough that only Bruce and him could hear, though footsteps made the conversation stop suddenly.

"Ah, hello Bruce, Dick." A man walked up behind Bruce. Bruce’s new business partner, Jace Marbleton. Dick sensed something off with him, something unnerving, like a certain masked asshole who tried to kill him.

“Mr. Marbleton, nice to see you again.” Bruce replied, he scooted over for Dick to sit next to him while Jace went to the other side of the booth. Dick quickly changed the page on his computer to show a game he was currently trying to beat Wally in and took his seat next to Bruce.

Bruce and Jace talked for a while, about one hour and thirty minutes in, Robin got bored. He excused himself from the table and walked to the bathroom, leaving his computer in Bruce’s care.

Once Dick finished in the restroom that smelled quite honestly shitty for a restroom, he went to wash his hands, his eyes followed the room's shadows carefully, he had a lingering feeling of someone watching him. He looked up to get some soap and saw a shadowy figure, he instantly flipped himself around, to see behind him, but no one was there.

“Weird.” Dick said out loud to himself as he finished washing his hands. He walked out quickly, not wanting to be alone any longer. Robin looked around, but to no avail. Bruce and Jace had left. Robin’s computer was sitting open on the table. He walked over to the table and looked at his computer. His game was still up, but saw his messages with Kid Flash were open.
