“Do you think I’m hot?”
Bakugou was ready for the most unexpected events: the attack of villains, common criminals, natural catastrophes, Deku saying something not stupid…but definitely he wasn’t ready for that question. Not from her.
His first impulse was to yell how stupid was that question, for many reasons. But no. Second idea, give her a look. She was doing some stretching in front of the huge mirror of the agency gym in her pink sports bra and black shorts, hair pulled up in a messy small bun but the bangs around her round face, slightly more red than usual due to exercise…adorable. And she has the courage to ask if she is hot… My goodness, the nerve of this woman, in every fucking way.
“Hah!? What kind of question is that?” Good. The best answer, another question.
She looked at him with a concern expression, a rare one. She used to smile, not always the same smile. After 5 years of friendship, he knew almost all her expressions and smiles.
“I talked with Mt. Lady the other day, after the conference, about, you know, the other things that are important to get higher as prohero and she said that been sexy had been fundamental for her, as a female hero. Sort of attract all kind of fans and be popular…” as she was talking her voice fainted. The popularity pools, the bane of existence of every hero.
Even after almost 4 years as proheroes and after everything they had done they all felt a bit stuck in their positions. She was in the Top 10 of The Rescue Heroes, but she couldn't stand out in the Combat Heroes as she wanted. He was number 13 for over a year, his unstoppable rise at the beginning of his career, breaking records by entering the top 25 straight (Along with Half-frozen-half-on-fire-idiot and Dek… -deep breaths- Midoriya. Not important) stopped. So yeah…
“That’s so fucked up! The only thing that matters to become a great hero is how strong you can become, how many villains you can defeat and how many lives you can save. So what if you are not all smiles and cheerful and shit flowers!? Be grateful you are alive and leave me alone!” It was a sore point. He had already had his own share of “you should be more…” by the PR team of the agency. But kindness didn't save lives or kick bad guys' asses. But he knew that the world they lived in was not like that. Appearance was key, especially for the female heroes.
She started chuckling at his outburst and brought him back to the present.
“I been looking for things or activities that made me feel more sexy and, don’t know, boost my self-confidence and all, so maybe someday I can be someone like you…” she looked at him with those big expressive eyes like she just realized she was talking out loud.
“Nevermind!” She jumped straight finishing her stretching “After all you don’t have to worry about these things” She said as she wiped off the sweat and gathered her things. He put the dumbbell down and turned to her.
“Oi! Because I’m not a woman?! You know how the stupid assholes of PR can’t stop pestering me…”
She interrupted him with her giggles, his heart jump when she does that.
“No silly!” she said turning her back to him going towards the gym exit “because you are incredibly hot!” and his heart stopped.
